I played out here on Friday, May 19 with two friends. The reason for the two stars is not due to the shape of the course...in fact, it's in great shape for the city amateur. The reason it fell below average is because the professional staff could not get a small tournament off on time and it affected the tee times of every other person that day. We teed off 45 minutes late. Completely unacceptable. When I talked to one of the gentleman inside the pro shop he said they were delayed because the tournament had gotten off to a slow start. Well... then it's incumbent upon the staff to make sure it starts on time so it doesn't affect the start times of over 100 golfers the rest of the day. This just happens to be the second incident in the last three times that I've played at Riverside where tee times have been significantly delayed because the staff didn't have time management read more

I should have left before even hitting a ball. We literally just loaded our bags when a worker arranging carts told us to "Move". Then on holes 3 & 4 they were mowing the fairways so each hole we waited and waited. So on hole 6 the Marshall rudely informed the pair playing with us that we were too slow. The Marshall never came to talk to us or even acknowledge us. He obviously knew the other pair. Rude old mans club sums it up. read more

Decided to play Riverside golf course for the first time in 20 years. Worst experience playing golf ever. My wife and I are not great golfers and play a little slow. We quit after 7 holes. Regulars at the course were rude. Cart guy was rude. Just a bad experience. Will never go back. read more

We had two back-to-back tee times for a group of six at 10:45am and 10:50am We were planning on playing in two groups and everyone arrived and paid by 10:30am. Our name was called to the tee box (as a single group) at 11:15am... 30 min late. All 6 of us teed off together and nobody from the clubhouse told us to split into 2 groups. We assumed since they were already 30 minutes behind that they wanted us to play together to make the play faster. No biggie. By the 4th hole, the Marshall came up to us and chewed us out for playing with 6. We explained how we made 2 tee times, how we were called up 30 min late, how the clubhouse only called us up as one group and we pointed out the fact that we were consistently waiting for the group in front of us to hit, while the group behind us had never waited for us once. The Marshall stated that he didn't care what the clubhouse had to say and that he didn't work for the clubhouse and that we must split up into two groups due to course rules. He was unprofessional and very confrontational with us. Fine. No biggie, we split up. Now our first group was still waiting for the group in front of them, our newly developed second group was waiting for our first group to hit and the group behind us caught up to us and were consistently waiting for us to hit. We had to explain to the group behind us why we were suddenly playing so much slower. Our two groups caught up to each other at the next two tee boxes, but we followed the Marshall's instructions and kept playing in 2 groups. On the 6th fairway, the grumpy Marshall came up to us again and asked what we were doing. I told him we were waiting for our first group to get off the 6th green so we could hit. He began to yell at us and say that if we play together again that "we won't like what's going to happen". I explained to him that we were indeed split up... We had 4 guys putting on the green and 2 guys waiting in the fairway to hit. I pointed out that the group behind us had now caught up to us and that we were now playing slower than we previously were because we were following his rules. He drove away and told us he would be keeping an eye on us the rest of the day. He creepily watched us on the 7th, 10th, and 11th hole. We were still abiding by the course rules. After the 11th hole, it was now 3pm. It had taken us almost 4 hours to play 11 holes and the pace was getting slower. The group behind us must have only played 9 because they were nowhere to be seen. We ended up calling it quits after the 11th hole (3 guys were from out of town). Course was in decent shape, pro shop and restaurant employees were nice, but the course was over-booked in the morning and the Marshall is an asshole who loves to harass patrons. Give yourself 7 hours to play 18 on a Saturday. read more

Nice course, been playing for 27 years, right now July 2017, the greens are fair to terrible. They will recover, they always do. Challenging course, especially the narrower fairways, number 10 elevated tee, hate that hole. read more

I bring my son here for the First Tee program. The greens are very nice. The people are nice and friendly. It's a nice relaxing place to be. I would recommend this place to anyone. read more

Went here and watched a bunch of guys try their luck at the driving range. The staff was pretty friendly and helpful, even when one of the clubs broke on us. It definitely didn't look high class or luxurious, but it was affordable and served it's purpose. read more

Course is fun to play, and I love 10, 11, 12. My favorite holes. They have done a lot of work to improve irrigation issues and added some cart paths. A couple of the employees think you are doing them a favor by playing their. The little restaurant is always good. read more

I play at Riverside about once every two months. I'd say that the staff and regulars have a bit of an overinflated sense of worth of the course. It's no where nearly as nice as a many of the courses in the area. They have worked hard as of late installing new irrigation and cart paths but it's still a muni. It attracts the same quality of person as other muni's attract. read more

I really like this course. Longest of the public courses in Fresno. Trees aren't too much of a problem. Pretty wide open fairways. Greens are really quite good right now in the spring. There is water near two holes, but unless you shoot way too far from where you are supposed to be going, it is not really in play. Although, I wish they would have made it in play. 10th hole is the best. Elevated tee box that you can just grip it and rip it. Super cheap. Currently $22 to ride after 12 pm. Rates change all of the time thought. read more

Last week I went to this course and played, it had been years since I have played on this side of town but we decided to go back. I was glad we did, it was beautiful. The greens were in great shape, fairways had a great cut between them and the rough. The sand traps were cut real nice, I was amazed at how well the course has been kept up. I definitely plan on going back soon, and the price is great, right around $20 to walk 18 holes, can't beat it. The course seemed like a country club, I was that amazed. read more

Unless the conditions improve immensely along with the rising prices, players would be fools to not look in to playing other courses in the area. $41 for a weekday time here is crazy. read more

Haven't played at a public course on a Saturday in a couple of years, now I know why the USGA is concerned with "Pace of Play" (5:45 round). What really made the experience at Riverside Golf Course was the ONE hour delayed tee time. Booked for 10:22 am, didn't tee off until 11:20. On top of that, learned the group ahead of us was ALSO given a 10:22 tee time. Double booking tee times causes major delays. I guess it's about making as much money possible. No apologies/incentives provided by the STAFF. Not good business!! read more

Riverside Golf Course staff is amazing. Me and my husband had our 10 year Vow Renewal there this past October, on their back patio looking over the bluff and the river. It was beautiful. Keith, Chris, and the guys were very very very nice, they even helped us set up our decorations, which was awesome! Our event was Class A+ red carpet! and they even helped us clean up! we were DIYers. I was able to book my event with no deposit, and the charge was only $700 for both patios, which are huge!!! I highly recommend them if you plan on hosting Anniversaries, parties, Weddings or any type of event, they are Allll Amazing!!!! read more

Okay so first let's start off with the positives the course is excellent. Well-maintained greens, interesting layout, it's very nice. The staff is solid and we would like give a shout out to the restaurant staff! they do a really good job. My problem lies in some of the customers and the pace of play. Seriously people if you are playing a group of four or more be aware of the people behind you. You don't need to spend it two minutes each lining up every putt. If you are that serious you need to be playing in tournaments not on a Sunday afternoon With all of the regular duffers. If we are playing with two ladies and we have to tee off two tee boxes and we still catch your group on every hole, YOU ARE TOO SLOW! I see this as the course marshals responsibility. I see him out all the time but have yet to see him make any moves that would speed up a bottle neck. You need to be aware that all people have paid a green fee and they and deserve to enjoy the course and waiting is never enjoying! But 5 1/2 hours for 18 holes is ridiculous. This is not just a one time thing we've played here multiple times with the same result, waiting on every Teebox for the group in front of us to finish their mini tournament. Get over yourself, pick up the pace and save your 360 degree walk around of every putt for the PGA Tour! read more
