Truly riverside, food and beer was excellent. New GM was awesome, super friendly, went out if his way to make sure we were enjoying our experience. Live music by the river. Great beer choices. A must visit

Jennifer and Hunter have been wonderful. This place is a nice escape when I'm rehearsing just down the road. Nice ambience, great people, and the brews are a wonderfully guilty pleasure.

Tipton Street Pub was a fun stop during our night out in downtown Johnson City. By day it feels…read morelike a pretty typical neighborhood pub, with booth seating on one side and the bar on the other. As the evening goes on, though, the music gets much louder and the atmosphere shifts into more of a nightlife vibe. It felt like a mix between a local pub and a late-night hangout, with people enjoying drinks and making the most of the evening. Definitely added a bit of character to Johnson City's downtown scene.

When did it become a crime to be a foreigner & why would anyone want to walk around with their passport just to visit a college bar ? It was an extremely tacky and disappointing experience especially since I loved tiptons when I was a college student at ETSU. I will not fight to spend my hard earned money anywhere therefore I will not be visiting a bar that discriminates against my nationality and identification. Very unwelcoming and disheartening... so much for supporting local businesses. I am a world traveler and have NEVER being denied entry anywhere else in the world. Pathetic.

This sandwich has ham, sliced pork, pickles, cheese, Mayo, and mustard. It was good. The pub hamburger with cheese was large and filling but the bun was stale. I had to peel most of the bread off. I'm sure they would have replaced it if I had asked. I like my cheeseburgers extra cheesy. This was not. So next time I will ask for double cheese. The fries were cooked perfectly. I would like to see them offer a little spice of Cajun type seasoning on the fries but otherwise they were great. Atmosphere-meh looks like something Jon Taffer could renovate. Upon walking into the side door closest to the parking lot, you feel as if you're walking in a back door and as if it's the wrong door but we were greeted with a smiling waitress who was sweet. The women's bathroom sink tile is broken off and in need of repair. It is a large space. I wasn't super impressed with the interior but it has the basics: bar tables, a pool table, televisions, liquor, dart boards and bar decor. This place has A LOT of options for bottled hot sauce, looked like over 30 different bottles. There are 7 televisions to watch from different angles. This is a place where the locals go to eat and drink. It looked as if they are undergoing some remodeling or repairs to the outdoor area. (06/16/2021) Overall, decent. I will try it again. I would have given 4 1/2 stars because the hamburger meat was a little pink even though I asked for well done, they need a larger slice of cheese on the burger, and they really need to update the bathrooms but I don't know the history of the place. Perhaps they just bought it and haven't had a chance to update it. And the cheese thing is a personal choice. Some people probably like just one slice. Classic country music played in the background like Hank Williams, Jr. The menu is extensive!

The Scotsman is a great Scottish pub that happens to serve pub food, and I think that's the right…read moreway to walk in. The space itself is genuinely grand, well-decorated, comfortable seating, a nice billiards room, and (maybe the highest compliment you can pay a pub) no old-bar smell or locals that make you feel out of place. The bathrooms were clean. The whole place was clean. For a neighborhood spot built around long conversations, it delivers. The drinks are the reason to come. The Riesling on the menu was good, and the winter bourbon (infused with apple), actually tasted spirited. What I appreciated most: no snootiness. Some Scottish and Irish pubs get precious about sticking to the house whisky program and gently disapprove if you order a cocktail or wine. Not here. They let you drink what you want to drink. Service was friendly and checked in at a good cadence. One note: the food came out way too fast. Appetizers hit the table, and the mains arrived about a minute later; we barely got into the fried cheese curds or tandoori fries before everything else was competing for space. The tandoor twist on the fries was a fun surprise, but generally the food read as average pub food. The salmon was dry (lesson learned: order it medium rare next time). The mashed potatoes on the shepherd's pie were the real highlight. 3.5 Stars. Credit where it's due: the menu is wide and actually vegan- and vegetarian-friendly, which is rarer than it should be in a pub, and there is a general playfulness in the atmosphere. What would push it higher: food that matches the level of the space, the excellent service, and the drinks. Pace out the courses, the salmon needs help, and strengthen the dishes a notch. We'll go back, just not for the salmon. The room, the drinks, and the staff all brought their A-game. The kitchen brought a B-game.
