Parade was fun but several hours long. String bands were closer to early afternoon. Fancy Brigade Finale is outstanding but pacing between performance was too long due to TV broadcast.

They also have daylong events at the park along with downhill races and a raft race on the river towards the evening. Fun for all ages.

In the past, they have held the event at Suburban Square, but this year it was at The Wynnewood Shopping Center. While the event is geared towards younger kids, I always come to check it out and see the great community. I came in and was greeted by the sight of a giant slide, carnival games and a large revolving swing. After that, I walked around a little more and saw a couple of more things including a fire truck, an ambulance, a police car, a moon bounce and a concession stand. The kids were really into it, which was nice to see. The concession stand was alright, but they served limited items. I only got a funnel cake and a lemonade. They were both solid, but the lemonade was a bit watery. Towards the end, the Phillie Phanatic and a cow mascot, advertising for a Kosher barbecue came out. For the entire time, a band was blasting music. While I did have a nice time, I had a couple of problems. First, parking was difficult to get as the parking lot was jammed, luckily I was able to find a spot. However, many people had to park on the street. Also, they said a K-9 was expected to come, but she was a bit scared so she wasn't let out. Altogether, I did have a nice time and I plan to return next year!

Paradise Island Entertainment provided the entertainment for my Father-In-Law's 100th birthday…read moreparty. They came to our picnic that had about 90 people in attendance at Estell Manor Park in Mays Landing, NJ. Paradise Island was very professional and the dancing and costumes were extremely well done and professional. The emcee was really great and explained the dances and different islands very well. Of course there was a hula contest and Paradise Island kept everyone involved. We all had a great time and it was well worth it! Highly recommended!

I really liked that there were tons of heaters around so even though it was cold and windy with was not too bad even sitting outside. The one thing that did stress me out was the number of unattended children running around super close to the open fire pits. I was shocked they let kids so close without supervision, we watched a group of young kids setting marshmallows on fire and running g around and their parents were in one of the cabins quite far away unable to even see them. It seemed dangerous to allow. Other than that I had a great time! Please just watch your kids if you are bringing them.

We have been to this festival a few times over the years, and in my opinion it is one of the better…read morefestivals in South Jersey, and not just because it is in January when few towns are doing any celebrations at all. They really pack a lot into the day's events. They close down the entire Main Street and set up food and craft vendors everywhere. Ice sculptures are everywhere, including live ice carving. They also have a lot of special events like dog sledding demonstrations, colonial cooking demonstrations, a wandering band of gentlemen and gentle ladies singing old timey colonial songs, and rides in Mt. Holly's fire trucks for the kids. Parking can be tricky, especially if you're not familiar with the area. We always get there early right when the festival opens and there is plenty of street parking outside of the old prison on High Street. This is a really fun event as a great way to embrace the cold of January and enjoy time outside supporting local establishments.

Not to mention the ice sculptures that are created there. The sculptures were a lil 1D, a few were more in the 2D but it was a bit warmer that carving the ice looked really wet. Good to see the local bizs having lots of traffic in their stores. I got to go to a few stores that I normally don't frequent but have wanted to check out (Olive Oil bar, Sweet Spot, Crystal place). For a cool $3, you could sample & help judge the winners in the Chili cook off. There were sledding dogs, a petting zoo, aerial acrobatics, historical figure reenactments, & various different food trucks on hand. Weather was nice (...as it could be in Jan) & cooperated, not super cold but temps did drop as it got later in the afternoon. We had a chance to sit outside and enjoy our funnel cake (thank you, Boy Scouts!). Lots of foot traffic up & down High Street/Mill Street. Good vibe overall. Overall, we had a great time @ the festival. They extended it a lil further down past the MIll Race shops and on the side streets as well. Good amount of people who came out this year. Parking stinks & you have to circle round a few times if you wait later to go, like what we did. Luckily, parking is free in Mount Holly. Great event for families & even just your friends. But local is the way to go. I look forward to going again next year & enjoying even more vendors!

I am only reviewing Ballroom Joe's parties, which happen every month on the first Friday of the…read moremonth. Please note he also teaches a class every Wednesday at the Tango 411 studio in Media. Also, the address above is the address where this dance is held, which is the Rose Tree Fire House. In the interest of full disclosure, I have become good friends with Joe through attending his parties and lessons, and I occasionally help out here on a volunteer basis. This dance is my recommendation for all beginner dancers. The people are all very friendly, and are very beginner friendly. This dance boasts a one of a kind "coaching corner." If one is not familiar with the steps of a dance, you can go to the coaching corner where an experienced dancer will teach you the basic step of that dance. The free lesson at the beginning of the dances is also very beginner friendly. The food generally is pretty extensive and is enough for a simple meal, although I usually eat dinner again with all the calories I burn off (hahaha). There are usually two songs played back to back of the same dance throughout the evening so one can really practice that dance - another beginner friendly feature. A friendly tip: The firehouse can be tough to find. It is not right off of Providence road, but you have to make a quick turn across from the Wawa. Look for the Wawa, because it is really off of that small side street across from it.
