I go here at least once a week and used to go 3 times a week and have never been unsatisfied. Perfect place to sit and hang out, free wifi, chess bored game, the coffee is amazing as well as the food, the tomato soup on Monday is my favorite.it is always sanitary including the bathrooms. I love the Italian cream soda as well. It is always cosy and perfect temperature inside it is warm never too cold or hot. The music is perfect and love how well the employees are dressed, very boho style, if this place ever shut down I would probably cry lol read more

Great lunch spot.Kinda small but very cozy setting. I ordered a turkey panini with salad and a Chai tea latte. Pretty basic but still really good. Ingredients were fresh. My total was around $12. I went back to work happy. read more

From Out of town and needed coffee something fierce! Googled and found this gem of a place. While I'll do Starbucks if there are no alternatives, am so glad this place was nearby. Great staff, great coffee, cool little coffee shop hang out. Years ago when I was a wee undergrad & Rivertown had just opened, I spent so many hours at the bar facing the window studying & doing homework. I'm glad to see that it's still that way today! I love the large windows facing the downtown sidewalk so you can sit & watch cars drive by, people walk by, bicycles cycling along....great view. Their lunch menu is delicious, but I have to give the biggest shout out to their BRAN MUFFINS. Yes, their bran muffins are the most delicious muffins that have ever been in my mouth! I work out of town during the week so I only get to go to Rivertown on Saturdays, and I'm always wishing and praying they have fresh bran muffins available! Usually they don't, but if I'm ever off during the week, I'll go in to get a coffee and check. I have better luck during the week to get their bran muffins. If you have the pleasure of eating their delicious bran muffins - get two! One to eat right away and one to snack on when you crave it again later! BRAN MUFFINS ARE THE BEST!! Oh, and the local latte is amazing! Try it hot or iced! *but make sure you don't get the girl who puts in too much honey. read more

This place is really neat on the inside, and the sandwiches we had were really good. The sourdough bread it's served on is amazing, and the service was pretty quick. However, the side of fruit had been frozen and then thawed. It was all mushy and gross, so one star off for that. I'd rather have a smaller portion of fruit that was actually fresh. read more

I grew up in Florence and my son is now in school there. When we were in high school I would have never imagined the eclectic new Florence that exists now. My son met us for coffee at Rivertown Cafe on a Saturday morning and I was a little nervous upon arrival. This is clearly a small shop where you grab a (mismatched) seat and order at the counter when you are ready. I ordered a latte and tomato breakfast sandwich. We took a number and our order was shortly delivered to the table. OMG that was the MOST incredible coffee strong, but not bitter. The latte had a velvety texture and just the right amount of froth with a pretty design to top it off. The tomato egg sandwich was a double decker and they managed to find ripe beautiful tomatoes and fresh basil with a delightful pesto spread. The rest are of my family and I gobbled up our order and all remarked on how delicious and fresh the meal was. The restaurant is right next to the Shoals Theater. Next time you are downtown in the morning you should drop in. I don't think you will be disappointed with this little place. read more

One of my favorite places for breakfast over past six months on the road. Spent two weeks in area and ate there most mornings (breakfast wrap, sandwich). Great staff all around. Good coffee. Only issue for me was seating, they were usually busy and often hard to find a seat. I may relocate to Florence for short while, and this place will be a regular stop for coffee. read more
