We were looking for something to check out while we visited Bowling Green, and trains are always a good idea. The Good: *Admission is $16 ($14 seniors and vets) for the museum and tour or $8 for just the museum. *Some nice displays in the museum of historic rail antiquities. *Friendly staff *Touring the rail cars is always fascinating, and they've done a great job refurbishing and keeping them in good shape. The Meh: *Smallish souvenir shop to pick up a few gifts and/or souvenirs for train lovers. The Ugly: *Touring the rail car in the summer is just a downright awful experience. I mean, they try their best to cool off the trains with AC, but it's like spitting into the wind. I was schvitzing more than a turkey in November. TLDR: Not the best train museum I've ever visited--and I've visited a LOT--but it was a good way to kill a few hours and didn't break the bank.

Whether…read moreyou're a gear head, friend of classic cars, or just an admirer of Chevrolet's flagship automobile, there's something for everyone here. There is handicap parking up front and when you walk into the entrance, there are already several Corvette's on display. Some of them are actually being raffled off and tickets for the raffles can be purchased at the museum. The entrance area also has two race car simulators where you can safely experience the thrill of driving a race car Corvette. There are senior discounts and military discounts (veterans and active duty) available so make sure you inform them prior to purchasing your tickets. Inside the museum is a journey through the past to the evolution of the Corvette! There are many classic Corvettes, Corvettes that were race cars, prototype Corvettes, and even celebrity owned Corvettes! There's a lot of history in this museum and they even talk about a sinkhole event that happened at the museum in 2014 and steps taken to recover the beloved cars! Some cars amazingly came out in great condition, but others suffered irreparable damage! This museum is just a real celebration of one of America's most beloved sports cars! Take a look, take photos, but go visit if you have a chance! There are guided tours we were told, but many people choose to just self tour the museum on their own! You even get a wristband, so if you don't complete the museum tour in the morning, you can come back in the afternoon and complete your tour. Overall, it's a very fun, interactive, and enjoyable experience and I would highly recommend!!

I tried the $18 simulator, one star for that terrible experience. The car handled like it was on ice. Nothing and I mean nothing like a good simulator should look or feel. Don't waste your money. Trash the simulators. Their embarrassing. They love selling raffle tickets. The odds are fairly reasonable. The gift shop is almost exclusively for older models. Again, not much for the C8 enthusiasts. I really was hoping for something unique pieces available in the gift shop. Very boring merchandise. I'd probably scrap 90% of the inventory and get a lot of updated merchandise. Higher quality and more unique. Add areas where you could get custom things made of you and your car. Get creative. I'm glad I went but not something I'd want to go back to. And I'm pretty sure now that I'll continue to pass on museum delivery.

The story and history behind this place is amazing and I love to see how well kept everything is, here. Highly recommend giving yourself a couple of hours to explore because there is so much to see! They close at 5pm and we arrived around 4:30pm, so not enough time to explore the museum, maybe next time. We were able to take several photos of the arboretum and let me tell you, you cannot take a bad picture here - everything is stellar!

She was an incredible wealth of knowledge and personally stepped outside to show us the direction of our self guided tour. The cost was $15.00 per adult. The preservation of this site is an absolute labor of love. Unfortunately, only 9 of the buildings survived out of 225 buildings. The rest of the buildings were devastated by a previous owner. However, this organization was very classy in maintaining a balance of history while not degrading the poor choices made by this individual. ( You will see what I mean.) Just a note: this is not a tour that is handicapped accessible. There are a lot of stairs and quite a distance to cover to the cemetery.

There was a historical marker and it is open 10am..We were a little early so I walked around and took some wonderful photos. Built in the 1800's..Gorgeous home!!! History: In 1847, Andrew Jackson Caldwell laid out the foundation for his new family home. With a desire for distinction, his home would not be a simple structure with four walls like so many others, but an eight sided edifice unique to the region. Completed in 1859, it would soon become a landmark in the south-central Kentucky area. Built for his growing family and as a headquarters for the plantation, it was occupied by the Caldwell family even after Andrew's death in 1866. His widow, Harriet, lived in the Octagon Hall until selling the house in 1918 to Doctor Miles Williams, an osteopath from Nashville, Tennessee. Dr. Williams moved from Nashville and made the Octagon Hall his residence until his death in 1954. At that time, the Octagon Hall was made rental property by his heirs. The Octagon Hall remained rental property until The Octagon Hall Foundation was formed and obtained the building in 2001. Dedicated to the restoration and preservation of the only eight-sided house in Kentucky, The Octagon Hall Foundation is furthering the efforts to save the past for the future

Visited the Octagon Hall Museum in Franklin, KY. Built in 1849, it has seen its share of tragedy…read moreduring the Civil War. Beth, the caretaker, was a highlight of the visit. There seems to be an enormous amount of paranormal activity. Her stories were very interesting. While I didn't experience anything, I was quite uneasy on the second floor and didn't stay there very long. I desnded the stairs to the basement, took a quick look and retreated. There's a kitchen on the grounds and two cemeteries, one of which was for the slaves. I highly recommend a tour of the Octagon ($10.00) and taking the time to chat with Brth. Glad we stopped to see it. 95
