It's pretty much a personal collection, sorted out and displayed for the public. I was there to see a few planes, and they have three or four. But they also have many cars, and tractors, and antiques, and old toys, etc. Every couple of minutes I would walk past one display and smile or laugh or gape in surprise at the amazing vehicle or artifact in front of me. There is one whole section of the building, essentially one big barn, full of John Deere tractors. And there are many, many other brands represented, of all ages. There are antique cars, and race cars, and just flat weird vehicles. There's an ultralight plane in the building, and several Vintage planes outside. Spend an hour or two, wander around. You can bring the kids, although it's not really set up for little kids and they can't climb on much. But it is super cool for them to look at all the old toys and interesting vehicles. Plus you can show them what a telephone booth was, and a switchboard, and a jukebox.

We were looking for something to check out while we visited Bowling Green, and trains are always a good idea. The Good: *Admission is $16 ($14 seniors and vets) for the museum and tour or $8 for just the museum. *Some nice displays in the museum of historic rail antiquities. *Friendly staff *Touring the rail cars is always fascinating, and they've done a great job refurbishing and keeping them in good shape. The Meh: *Smallish souvenir shop to pick up a few gifts and/or souvenirs for train lovers. The Ugly: *Touring the rail car in the summer is just a downright awful experience. I mean, they try their best to cool off the trains with AC, but it's like spitting into the wind. I was schvitzing more than a turkey in November. TLDR: Not the best train museum I've ever visited--and I've visited a LOT--but it was a good way to kill a few hours and didn't break the bank.

The preservation of this site is an absolute labor of love. Unfortunately, only 9 of the buildings survived out of 225 buildings. The rest of the buildings were devastated by a previous owner. However, this organization was very classy in maintaining a balance of history while not degrading the poor choices made by this individual. ( You will see what I mean.) Just a note: this is not a tour that is handicapped accessible. There are a lot of stairs and quite a distance to cover to the cemetery.

A great and unique cave experience in Bowling Green. We…read morerecently took the underground boat tour at Lost River Cave in Bowling Green, Kentucky, and it was a very cool and unique adventure! This is Kentucky's only underground boat tour, and we were lucky to visit right after the river had lowered enough to reopen following flooding. (When the water is high, the cave becomes submerged, so timing is everything.) Our tour guide, Bri, was fantastic. She was funny, engaging, and an incredibly skilled boat driver. She kept the group entertained with corny but hilarious jokes while sharing the rich history of the cave, from its days as a Native American hunting ground and Civil War campground to its time as a hideout. It was even a 1930s nightclub which was being used as a wedding venue when we visited. She navigated us as far back into the cave as possible, pointing out beautiful and interesting rock formations along the way. The tour was about 45-minutes and included a guided walk to the cave entrance with 3 stops before you board the boat. Be aware that it involves a steep walk down (and back up) and requires bending over low in the boat with your torso flat toward the seat when the water is high as you first aneter and leave the cave. This makes the ride difficult or impossible for those with mobility impairments. Despite the physical aspects, I thought the experience was truly unique and peaceful as you glide through the cool, dark cave. I highly recommend this for anyone who is interested in unique cave experiences or anyone who enjoys a blend of nature, history, and corny jokes.

The story and history behind this place is amazing and I love to see how well kept everything is, here. Highly recommend giving yourself a couple of hours to explore because there is so much to see! They close at 5pm and we arrived around 4:30pm, so not enough time to explore the museum, maybe next time. We were able to take several photos of the arboretum and let me tell you, you cannot take a bad picture here - everything is stellar!

Located in Bowling Green, my partner, his family and I visited at the Hobson House which was a…read morehidden gem. The Hobson's were a divided household with some supporting the Union and others supporting the Confederacy. The household and family survived the times and divisions of the Civil War. Emma was an amazing guide, so knowledgeable and friendly. The tour lasted about an hour and 15 minutes and we journeyed through the downstairs rooms, second floor sleeping area's, the "Cupola" / Roof area, as well as heading all the way down to the basement to see the area where the kitchen was. The house is beautiful, full of all the original furniture and inspired from the Victorian era. The grounds are well kept and beautiful. If you are in the area, well worth a visit!

Saturday, April 12, 2014 Tony and I visited Hobson House aka Riverview at Hobson Grove. It sits in…read morethe middle of a golf course and disc course in this large park. There was a wedding there when we visited so we could not go inside so we strolled around outside and took some lovely photos of the old home. I found some history about the home. If you are in the area, I highly recommend you visit the grounds and the home if you can get in. Riverview at Hobson Grove was built as the home of Atwood Gaines Hobson and his wife Juliet "Julia" van Meter Hobson on a small promontory and was named because of its proximity to the Barren River. Construction on the house started in the 1850s, but was halted due to the outbreak of the Civil War. Because Atwood Hobson was a staunch Union supporter and his eldest son, William, had been made a Colonel in the Union Army, the family was concerned about this property. The commanding officer of the Confederate troops, Simon Bolivar Buckner, who had fought with Atwood's brother, Edward, in the Mexican-American War, agreed to spare the partially built house. His troops built a temporary roof over the basement to use as a munitions magazine during the winter of 1861-1862, when Bowling Green was the Confederate capital of Kentucky. Riverview was finally completed in 1872. Riverview is a classic example of Italianate architecture with arched windows, deep eaves with ornamental brackets, and a cupola. The two parlors have painted ceilings. Atwood and Juliet Hobson incorporated some unusually unique ideas for their era into this home. A copper-lined wooden collection tank in the attic, which was connected to the outside guttering, provided running water for the water closet on the second floor. Another innovation beneath the cupola is a hole in the ceiling, sometimes called an oculus, and is part of the ventilation system of the house. When the eight windows in the observatory are open and the windows and doors are open on the floors below, a vacuum is created, pulling the hot air up and out of the house, keeping the air continuously circulating. It works much as an attic fan would work in a home today. The Hobson family and their descendants lived in the house until 1952. After a string of various successive tenants and being damaged by fire, the structure was abandoned and condemned in 1965. The city of Bowling Green purchased the property with the intent of demolishing the house and building a golf course. The house was saved when a non-profit organization, the Hobson House Association, was formed the next year, restoring the dwelling in Victorian style.[2] The proposed golf course was built nearby and can be viewed from the hill upon which Riverview sits.

The National Corvette Museum is an awesome automobile museum with something for everyone! Whether…read moreyou're a gear head, friend of classic cars, or just an admirer of Chevrolet's flagship automobile, there's something for everyone here. There is handicap parking up front and when you walk into the entrance, there are already several Corvette's on display. Some of them are actually being raffled off and tickets for the raffles can be purchased at the museum. The entrance area also has two race car simulators where you can safely experience the thrill of driving a race car Corvette. There are senior discounts and military discounts (veterans and active duty) available so make sure you inform them prior to purchasing your tickets. Inside the museum is a journey through the past to the evolution of the Corvette! There are many classic Corvettes, Corvettes that were race cars, prototype Corvettes, and even celebrity owned Corvettes! There's a lot of history in this museum and they even talk about a sinkhole event that happened at the museum in 2014 and steps taken to recover the beloved cars! Some cars amazingly came out in great condition, but others suffered irreparable damage! This museum is just a real celebration of one of America's most beloved sports cars! Take a look, take photos, but go visit if you have a chance! There are guided tours we were told, but many people choose to just self tour the museum on their own! You even get a wristband, so if you don't complete the museum tour in the morning, you can come back in the afternoon and complete your tour. Overall, it's a very fun, interactive, and enjoyable experience and I would highly recommend!!

We came here in June 2026 before our flight home from TN to CA. It was a fun experience for both…read moreadults and kids. Kiddos got to sit in the corvette demo car (it's a simulated ride at the far end of the lobby before you enter the museum exhibits). There were new corvettes on display in the lobby, as those were the cars that new owners were going to pick up directly from the museum. Once admission is paid, you enter the exhibit area to learn about the history of the corvette and there's even an interactive area for kids to design their car and see it live on the jumbo screen. We walked into their iconic Skydome, which was awesome to visit. There is also an archives library that you can go into, there are some pens available to take home as a souvenir if you'd like. A large gift shop was on site, so we picked up a magnet!
