We came back and was all ready for bed in our pjs in the late evening when we got a loud knock on our door. We opened the door to the host saying there was a double booking for the "cabin" (a ugly small box next to a high way for 112$) since we had apparently booked for the night before and not that night we got kicked out of our cabin with the resolutions offered to us of us buying a campsite and renting a tent from him. Or he also said we could sleep in the thrift store parking lot! We did not get any sort rembursrment and had to pay for that heavily overpriced box.

The place was accommodating, and we had a really nice trip. However, on the morning we checked out, around 8 AM, three of the owners showed up at our door demanding that we pay for our stay. I asked if I could pay after we checked out, and they started cursing at me and threatening me in front of my son. I promptly paid, and the three of them calmed down very quickly. I later found out that a different campsite, not ours, had not paid. While that is unfortunate, taking that anger out on my family was completely unacceptable. I do want to say that our stay was pretty amazing up until this point. They were very accommodating, including helping us with fresh towels. Sadly, this incident at the end was absurd and really ruined the experience.

The sites are located in a beautiful forest with large trees, moss and mushrooms, and a river adjacent. They all have a picnic table and a fire pit, although we were there during a fire ban. There are nice clean bathrooms with shower stalls. I really loved that this campground had some small trails through and near it, and I loved walking down to the river at the end of the day. It was really beautiful! The whole campground is gorgeous and we had a great time.

This inexpensive no-frills campground has all the basics, and nothing more: tent and RV sites with…read morepicnic tables and fire pits, three porta potties that appeared to be well maintained, one dumpster, a really basic playground, and a station set-up with two tanks of potable water for the campers to use. A few things you should know: 1) Google Maps is not able to route you to the campground entrance. Use the coordinates provided in your email receipt. The driveway is easy to miss. 2) Keep the campground number handy. I got to what I thought was the camp and was unable to figure out how to check in. So I ended up calling the owner via the phone numbers listed on the small Forks Sol Duc Campground sign by where I had entered. Mitch then directed me to my spot over the phone, and I was able to set up camp. 3) There were no instructions on how to operate the two tanks full of potable water available to the residents. It would be more helpful if there was a sign on how to operate the water pumps. And by the time I had figured it out, the white tank was already out of water. I had lost patience with trying to figure out how to operate the blue tank. I texted the owner via the number he provided, and at least he was very responsive. Or they can at least include the water access instructions in the email receipt. 4) I don't think they have people cleaning up between campers. So you may end up dealing with the leave-behinds from the previous occupants. The previous campers left me alcohol and a small amount of lighter fluid that I never ended up using. 5) The camp sites are all very diverse, with some being more secluded than others. But most are pretty open. FYI you get a discount if you let them pick your site for you. I think that's it. If you are looking for an affordable, no-frills camping spot that will allow you to explore the rainforests and mountains of the western Olympic Peninsula, then this might be the place for you.

The family next to us was also the owners family ( or friends) and after we left we think most of the people staying here were also. They were decked out in American flags and decor in celebration of the 4th and I mean full on decked out. One guy had an American flag overalls and we just thought good for them ...But you read into that as you will. We got odd looks that we didn't read too much into but when you get that gut feeling sometimes you gotta listen to it. Around 8:30 pm more cars started trickling in which was odd. Then more , and more. They clearly came in for the show everyone but us seemed to know about. These fireworks were insane. Made me pretty sad for the strait of Juan de fuca a place that should be kept pristine. Should be illegal in my opinion. But people suck and they don't care. I'll leave it at this, go support another Airbnb, or rental property that has the same views instead of this one.

You can walk along local trails right from the campground, and you can walk over to the Visitor Center, museum, and lodge. The sites are spacious, with picnic tables and fire rings. The bathrooms were large and clean and included showers. The location of your site is important here. Some are along the lake shore, while others are right along the roads in camp. We had a "walk in" campsite, which was a decent walk away from the main part of camp. It also intersected with another trail, so sometimes random people were walking around lost. Stay here if you can get a waterfront site and choose carefully!

I had booked a lodge room with a view. It's rustic and bare bones but was quiet, clean and comfortable. Plus, you can't beat the lake views right outside your window. Nearby, you can walk to many of the Quinault Rain Forest trails. The location is a bit remote, so do stock up on necessities. One minor consideration is that the lodge rooms don't have a mini fridge. I believe some of their cabins do. I'd definitely stay here again if I were visiting the area. It was a nice property with wonderful staff and a reasonable price.

No working GPS or signal, and I had only booked this place on Expedia prior to my trip, since everything in Forks was fully booked. But let me just say... I ended up LOVING it! The cabin was spotless, cozy, and had everything I could possibly need... Fireplace, WiFi, kitchenette, fridge, TV... you name it! I especially loved all the windows that let in tons of natural light, and the porch out front was such a nice touch. The staff at the office were incredibly friendly and welcoming. They even offered me an upgrade for just $15, which I really appreciated. The location itself was absolutely stunning... Surrounded by mountains and overlooking a beautiful lake, it felt like the perfect escape. If you're looking for a peaceful getaway, this cabin is it. I was not disappointed in the slightest and honestly can't wait to come back. Thank you for such a wonderful experience! Washington is truly a beautiful state and staying here just solidified my opinion.
