We made reservations for 6 and were greeted as soon as we walked in by a friendly smile. They let us choose our table on their beautiful patio with a lovely view of the river. My husband and I ordered the berry mimosas and they kept them topped off all through breakfast. My Mom and I had the blueberry cream cheese French toast with sausage. My husband had the seafood Benedict, my stepdad and son had the biscuits & gravy and sons girlfriend had the steak salad. Everything was delicious and we all agreed the best breakfasts we've had in a very long time. Service was great and you cannot beat the atmosphere. I went for Mother's Day and had a great brunch, the stuffed berry french toast was so good- melted in my mouth. The other menu items looked awesome too, I want to try the Thai Tacos next time. Our table sat right on the River and we were surrounded by trees and vines and of course the sacramento river. The whole eating area is totally outdoors with an awesome view. I can see how this would make a great wedding location, it was a perfect place for a special occasion - we did Mom's day brunch. All the food was cold by the time it made it to the table. the reason they charge 20% tip in advance is because they wouldn't receive a tip if it was base on service. save your marriage find another event center for your wedding read more

*Bride* May 14th On my special day I wanted to have the best day of my life and that is exactly what the river view event center delivered. Not only did the florist blow my mind with all the beautiful orange roses through out the venue (plenty down the isle) but she did a fantastic job putting the bouquets together for the wedding party. For the photographer- Just wow! The pictures came out fantastic and we had so much fun with her. She over delivered on the pictures, we received 350 more then the original agreement-thank you! The food- we went with something a little different ( Cajun style) which was already a gamble and all our guests really enjoyed it. The plates were portioned fairly, came out at a good time, and the food was not cold.Dj- played a decent variety of music, made sure to call all the announcements but...every wedding must have a little hick up and our names were pronounced wrong, it happens :) . The bar- the prices were extremely fair and the shots were huge! My guests had no complaints on that at all haha. The venue was very beautiful and accommodating, It's family owned and you can tell they put love into it. Honestly everything was perfect and I get to remember this special day thanks to you guys! My daughter got married here 10 years ago absolutely fantastic venue a wonderful experience.

I had my wedding at the Riverview in June.The location was very beautiful, the people were nice, and the price was right. Unfortunately, you get what you pay for. I opted for the package which included the site, photographer, flowers, and "coordination." The flowers were very different from what I had discussed with the florist. They refused to produce a sample prior to the day of the wedding. Even though I had to provide sample pictures of what I wanted, the arrangements were very different than what I had requested. They encouraged me to go with fake flowers for certain flowers and insisted that no one would be able to tell. They looked awful. They also forgot an arrangement (the one over the archway). I also had a problem with the pictures. I did save alot of money, however I am very dissatisfied. My husband's head was cut off in many of our portraits and there were many other pictures with framing issues. The dimensions of the pictures are non-standard which makes it difficult to order prints and many required cropping/re-sizing. Also, we were told that by booking their recommended photographer, we would be able to take waterfront pictures, which never happened. Finally, there are cars in the background of many of my pictures including the ones where the bridal party enters. I wish that the "coordination" would have included a warning that cars would be allowed to park behind the arch. So I'd like to give a warning to any bride who is considering this site, that if you don't want cars in the pictures of your father escorting you down the aisle, consider adding an apparatus/ decoration that would hide them. I'm not sure how much coordination was actually done for me as it seemed that my sister-in-law and bridesmaids tackled most of the problems that came up (and chose not to tell me about some). Overall, we had a fantastic wedding and everyone had tons of fun. The important parts of the day went well. These are just the little things that happened that made it a little more stressful than it already was. Caution to the detail oriented bride. read more

Criminal The business practices of Scott Way after my sister's wedding in May 2016 have ruined the memory of her special day. As brides do, she had distinct expectations of her floral decor, which the designer completely failed to deliver. The bouquets were small, dead, and unprofessional. Dead, as in left on a counter to dry out in the Redding summer heat. Instead of arriving at the alter on a soft bed of flower pedals, the wedding party had walk down the isle on bare concrete, due to staff failing to set out the chosen runner. Once everyone made it to their places, the bride and groom read their vows to each other. What is normally a very sweet time wasn't heard by their family and friends because Scott's sound system didn't work properly. Same thing during toasting at the reception. Those special moments unfortunately can never be replaced. Beyond the great failure to deliver on what was contracted, Scott refused to apologize or refund for any of the losses. He collected thousands of dollars for the wedding and could care less about the brides disappointment or his inability to fulfill the contract he had made. If you want to enjoy your special day, don't use Riverview Event Center. You'd be better off to just throw money into the nearby river than to give it to Scott Way with a hope that he provides what he offers. read more

The venue is beautiful and the staff did a good job with the exception of the DJ, who claims to be the owner, but is reportedly the owner's brother. Either way, he should think twice about cutting off songs specifically requested by the bride. Not to mention that he was very talented at clearing the dance floor. My advice is to hire an outside DJ if you plan to use these facilities. read more

The place is gorgeous and the people are accommodating and so nice but the food was awful and they didn't plan very well for the 98 degree weather and 200 people. More sun than shade. As stated in all of the reviews, we have the same opinions. Food was cold, the "steak kabobs" were nothing more than a piece of tri-tip with a stick through it. It was over cooked and VERY tough. I'm sure that the brides parents paid PLENTY to have better service, warm food and something other than shoe leather for steak! The lack of respect paid to the bride and groom and their family was astounding! If it weren't for the family all pulling together to make this a special day and event there is no way Scott and his staff would have done it. We were at our niece's wedding this afternoon. There were a lot of things that weren't great in the way it was ran. The bridal party apparently had to set it up. We also saw them clean up the chairs from the ceremony, while we were seated for a very long time waiting for the reception to start. They had one person delivering plates to everyone, which took forever. She waited for another person to bring out a tray of plates, then she'd pass each one out to guests and wait for him to return with another tray of plates. I'm not sure why there wasn't more staff to help keep things moving more smoothly. It was announced that the toasts would be starting soon, and about 30 more minutes went by. We ended up having to leave right as the toasts began, which was a huge bummer to miss out on that (& the cake cutting and dancing) at her wedding. However, we had a 3 hour drive ahead of us and work this morning. Also, they weren't checking ID when selling alcohol. They sold beer and a Fireball shot to our other niece, who is 18!!! The bride and groom were not happy with how things were being run there. I feel so bad for them. Then, I guess the reason they finally got the toasts going was to create a diversion while the groom was having some words with the owner. Several other guests had to take off before the toasts, as well. Many people were not happy with the whole experience. What a poorly run place! I do not recommend. read more

Let me start off with saying that the staff was very friendly and seemed very nice during my cousin's wedding. HOWEVER the business as whole could use some work. They go over briefly fees and payments during the first meeting and then slapped last minute gratuity fees on during the final visit a week before the wedding after telling my cousin that the payments were accounted for. The alcoholic beverages are outragously over priced and you must buy from them because they do not allow outside alcohol. They allow wine but charge a ten dollar uncorking fee per bottle....my cousin got photos back from the photographer and she was absolutely heartbroken that her hair was messed up in so many of the photos due to wind and the photographer didn't say anything or find a place going with the wind to fix the hair problem as she was taking the photos. The bride was also upset that she received almost every photo in color, clouded edge, black and white, and sepia. The ones provided in color would have only reached about half of the amount that they were expecting to receive. There's also a portion of time during the reception missing where the photographer took a wine break(seen by multiple wedding guests). The bride says she isn't even going to try to ask for a refund after reading the other negative reviews. My cousin and family deffinitely over paid for what they recieved. The whole ordeal seemed unprofessional and I really think that the owner and his staff/family members included in the packages offered could benefit from business classes or maybe even try to fix the issues mentioned in the negative reviews beings that they all have many of the same complaints. The Riverview Wedding and Event Center is the perfect venue. We held my daughter and son-in-laws wedding there this weekend. The setting is right on the river and is beautiful. Scott and staff did an amazing job, and took care of our every need. Most of the time when I asked about something they had already taken care of it. We chose the package and it was absolutely perfect, it was so nice not to have to contact and coordinate all the different vendors, from photography to the DJ. The most brilliant idea was the suggestion in the wedding book that Scott supplied was the idea of hiring someone to entertain the children. Scott set up an area for the children and It worked out perfectly, the kids had a wonderful time and better yet so did the parents. Maryanne not only took great photos she was fabulous at coordinating each step of the way. She even made sure the favors were made available to the guests. If I could I would certainly give this a 10 star rating. This was almost a stress free wedding thanks to Scott and staff. I highly recommend this venue and will certainly use them again in the future for parties! read more

I attended a wedding in November of this year. The Bride and Groom were fantastic, but it was a shame that the event center had such total disregard for their special day. In particular the wait staff working the wedding were wearing jeans, sweatshirts and sneakers. The food came out in courses about 10 to 15 minutes apart and all was very cold. The rice in particular was undercooked and so salty as to be inedible. The Mother of the Bride supplied 8 bottles of Sparkling apple cider for the kids to enjoy for the wedding toast and the event center owner charged her $8.00 per bottle (corkage fee?) Last I check they were pop tops. And finally the Parents of the Bride provided the wine for the event and every time I set my glass down to dance it was taken and dumped. Very rude. I was hoping to have our high school reunion here because of the beautiful views but after attending a friend's wedding here, I have changed my mind. The food, service, and cleanliness of the event were appalling. It's too bad that someone's most special day can be made into something with bad memories! BEWARE!!! Was there tonight, fair dinner. Had to ask for check, $20 for dinner & beer. Gave $40., Karen, the server, said thanks. I said 'excuse me, are you expecting a 100% tip? She said, well, you didn't ask for change... Well, she didn't OFFER to to give me change for me to give her a tip - just a thank you.... Well, she finally dropped 10 down, then started out with ones.. my friends & I started chatting about it & she scooped up the ones & gave me 2 more $5's... I gave her a $5 & said, 25% is adequate. When spoke to Scott, the manager, he backed her up & she said 'Plenty of people drop large tips at brunch. Well, your brunch may be delightful & worth 100% tips, but the service on this particular Saturday night was not! You never checked on how our dinner was. Someone else finally cleared our plates. The tri tip I had was inedible, as I showed Scott (my dog could swallow it, since I couldn't chew it), said they would have replaced it....... yeah, right... Karen never checked on us. This past weekend, my daughter got married at The Riverview. Overall, the experience was awesome. Her day was everything she wanted and more. We did the a package deal that included the photographer and DJ, but opted to do our own flowers, decorations, and caterer. The staff was friendly and helpful. Amy is a priceless gem.....she was worth every penny. She did everything I asked of her and more. She stayed in close communication with me and always checked to see what she could do for me and made sure everything was done. It was very hot and the ice and beverages were always topped off. Everything was set up how we asked and everything was packed up and ready to go at the end of the evening. It was a pretty seamless experience. With anything, there is always room for improvement, which is why I didn't give the full 5 stars. There are only a few things I would have changed. With the buffet line, I had suggested an alternate approach. They chose to do it how they normally do and, as I suspected, there was a bottleneck which made it hard to get back through to the dining area. We asked about Karoke when we booked, which they didn't have. This was fine, but that night, the normal DJ wasn't there and the one they brought in did have Karoke. I wasn't informed of the change and therefore we brought our own equipment. No big deal, just would have saved me the trouble. And, as with a couple of other reviews, I believe the river side photos never took place. I am a little afraid hearing about the entry arch photos having undesirable things in the background, but I guess I'll find out about that when the photos are done. Otherwise, Maryann did a great job covering everything. She was a trooper as, like I said, it was extremely hot and she wasn't feeling well at one point. I would highly recommend having an event here. The venue is beautiful. read more
