I was taken to the back of the salon to change into a robe and slippers for my relaxing 55 minute escape. It all started out well. Problem is, the massage area is right next to the salon's shampoo area and the walls between the two areas are not sound proof. So for the entire duration of my "relaxing" massage, I heard clients and their stylists talking and laughing while rinsing dye out of their hair. On top of that, the employee fridge must also be in the back "spa" area because the door kept opening and closing and people were back there shuffling and crinkling wrappers and papers on and off throughout the massage. And I personally thought the lights in the spa area were turned up too high. A massage should take you away but it's hard to have that happen when lights are glaring down on you like you are being interrogated. The masseuse was a little too light in her touch even after I told her she could work deeper and she kept stubbornly trying to get out this one knot in my shoulder even after I told her she was hurting me and it was fine for her to move on. The entire time I was trying to figure out how much longer I had to lay there not being relaxed. When it was finally over, I asked the girl at the front desk if I could put my tip on a credit card. She told me only if I made a purchase so I started to look at some of their hair products and she told me that was a "separate" business so I could only purchase from the spa. Ok, so I'll purchase yet another uncomfortable massage so I can leave a tip for this unpleasant experience?? No, thanks. Overall, I can see why they felt the need to offer massage services through Groupon. People in town probably already know what the deal is there so they had to draw in outsiders for an unrelaxing but affordable "spa" experience.

I then went to other places near my house, some that were found on Groupon and other spas that cost nearly $120 for a hour long facial, and not one place compared to Spa J. There is something to be said about owners who do the work themselves. Julie is truly passionate about her work, never pushes to sell products, and really cares more about her client being satisfied than making money. I would recommend her to anyone; it will be worth your visit.

I was given a locker to store my clothes and was given a white rob to change into and sandals. The dressing room had lockers a separate toilet area, shower and area to dress. When I finished changing into my robe I went into the relaxation room and waited for my masseuse to pick me up. I scheduled the ultimate massage. Chris my masseuse was wonderful. He worked on the many knots on my neck and back. I had a full body massage for 80 minutes and it was so worth it.

Robes can be rented from the front desk for customer convenience, if you don't want to bring your own. I prefer to rent theirs, the robes are very nice. Admission grants access to the facility's aroma, wet, and dry saunas, steam room, ice cold plunge, lap pool, jacuzzi, relaxation room, and the mud/scrub room. WiFi is free and available throughout the entire spa. The spa features a lovely cafe that prepares healthy meals, fruit bowls, that has a bar wherein alcoholic beverages can be ordered. The spa has other amazing add on's that are extra which include cryotherapy, salt room, float pod, massage therapy, and a VIP room. Highly recommend cryotherapy if you have any inflammation in your body. Cryotherapy is a game changer. Excited to try the float pod, cryotherapy, infrared sauna,on my next visit. As well as the salt room eventually. My overall favorite feature of the spa was the ice cold plunge. It was truly an amazing experience, that gave me immediate benefits. Never thought I could ever do an ice cold plunge especially when the weather outside is already very frigid. Thanks to other members sharing their experience. I built up the courage to the plunge. It was an awesome, euphoric, pain relieving experience. I will be taking the ice cold plunge or ice baths on a daily or weekly basis for the amazing health benefits.
