I signed up for a membership at Hand & Stone in New City but canceled (TRYING TO) because I wasn't using it regularly. Occasionally, I gifted my sister (the max you can give away) three sessions when I couldn't use them myself. In mid-October, I tried to cancel. The receptionist told me she had no authority to process cancellations and that I needed to speak with a manager. I called back twice. During the second call, they informed me that my November payment had already been processed. They suggested I use one more session and cancel after that! So, I went in for another session and asked again to cancel. Eventually, I received a voicemail from the manager saying he wanted to "discuss" my cancellation. When I called back, the manager wasn't available, so I asked the receptionist to relay my request to cancel! Later, the manager called back, stating he needed to email me a PDF cancellation form to sign electronically. Here's the frustrating part: the manager said I'd still be responsible for another payment because I was canceling less than 30 days before the next billing cycle. When I expressed my frustration, he revealed that if I hadn't raised my voice, he might have waived the final payment due to my repeated cancellation attempts! Then he assured me that he would indeed wave this final payment :() He emailed the cancellation form, which stated that I'd still be charged a final payment even though he had said he would waive it. I trusted that he would do what he said and wave it! And to top it all off, another payment was deducted from my account today! December! I STILL WANT TO CANCEL! If you're considering signing up for a membership, be warned--the cancellation process is far from straightforward!

Each space is separate and there are curtains to enter each space. I had a large male that did my massage I'm not sure what his name was. He did a good job with the massage, I was nervous because he would step on my back and he had to have been over 280lb but it was fine. He must have had hairy arms because I think I felt it during the massage. The space was relaxing no complaints, just observations. Would recommend as it was $55 for one hour for a full body massage.

After I was all ready and waiting for a few minutes, the messous came in and whispered in my ear that she's going to someone else who's giving her a lot of money. I was confused and upset, and she only told me this after I had undressed etc. A different messous came in who did not do a good job. She was very rough. I had to ask her to stop hurting me. I was so shocked by all this. When I came out, the messous I had originally booked was standing by the counter and took my money. I told her that I was very unhappy and disappointed. She said that someone else kept calling and offering money and that I should come in the morning or evening when it is less busy. This is reprehensible. When I booked the appointment, they said the time would work. It was confirmed and all set. This experience was terrible. I was not treated as a customer should be treated. It was so disrespectful. I will not be returning to this spa and would not recommend it to others.

Heather's response is "What were you thinking of course it's more.." They also got the time of my massage wrong and blamed me for it, canceled 15 minutes before the massage, even though I had in writing the actual time. It had calm and soothing music and she put hot stones under my palms which was a nice touch.
