The staff there is always so friendly and efficient. The food and drinks are well priced and delicious. Management has everyone smiling and keeping things " tight. It is so cold in the theater I wanted to walk out. They charge $15 for a ticket, $9 for a small bag of popcorn, but can't turn on the heat? Even in ski clothes it's too cold to watch a movie. read more

The theater was filthy when we came in, with popcorn, candy and spilled soda on the floor. We had to ask the staff to come clean up and when they did, they did a mediocre job, not even sweeping fully under the seats so there were still used napkins and popcorn tucked under the folded seats when they left. They didn't mop either, so the floor remained sticky from spilled soda. This is unfortunate b/c the mess was mostly under the best seats in the theater. In reading reviews from earlier years, this seems to be a common experience. I can't help wondering if the management doesn't have to care b/c they're the only game in town. read more

Older charming little theater. Nice choices at the concession stand - including bar drinks. Seats were okay.

This is a cool little theater. The rooms are smaller than a normal theater, which was nice. You weren't left with mass empty seats. One down side was that because the space is so small, when people got up to exit, there was a lot of noise and distraction, especially when the door to the theater opened. The lobby is right next to all the theater doors and a lot of outside noise filled the theater room when people enter and exit during the film. There was no lighting on the floor either. So when the previews start, the rooms become extremely dark and it was very hard to walk around and find our seats. read more

I went to the Riverwalk Theater today, to go and watch the new spiderman the worker Zach was very nice and respectable. He was also very efficient and productive working getting me my popcorn quickly. The new spiderman wasn't as good as the old one's Tom Holland isn't nearly as attractive as Toby McGuire though this review only covers the movie theater, not the movie itself. After the movie, I went to get a drink and was served by Mason. The drink he served me was great though the conversation was even better. We had a great conversation about monkeys. I then talked about my time at the Akumal Monkey Sancuartary with him and reminiscence about my time with the monkeys. He actually reminded me of my coworker John who works with the gorillas (He is sadly moved on the afterlife after being killed may the lord rest his soul). I will definitely come back to the theater again! read more

I really love this theater. The people that work there are amazing. Great selection of refreshments at a very reasonable price for a movie theater. We've been coming to the valley for 9 years now. We always try to take the time to take the kids to go see a movie and have always enjoyed it. Reading what some of these clowns say makes me shake my head and laugh. You have to take everything with a grain of salt. This is a quaint little slice of Americana plus the staff is always nice. Rarely do people have the time to sit down and say something nice about a good experience. But miserable people love to take their own time to pick at any and every experience that they might not consider to be 5 star. I had to take a few seconds to offset the miserable people's comments on this thread. I have no relationship with this theatre and my family comes every year from Florida. As of this writing, $11 will get you an adult ticket. Riverwalk Theatre is CASH ONLY: there is a Wells Fargo ATM behind the building if you need, and a liquor store across from the front. This place is really quite the little gem. Locally-operated and on the cozy side; a little dated but still quite serviceable. Management generally selects their fare well and they try to keep a kid-friendly film running when available. After Oscar nominations are made public, they will often try to get a nominated film in that they did not run when it was first released (a nice touch considering we are sometimes limited up here in the mountains when it comes to movie selection). The seats are a little careworn but not uncomfortable, the screens are a bit dim but not distractingly so, and the sound gets the job done. Don't expect a THX certified experience and you will have a jolly time. I have seen about 50 movies here over the years, and only once or twice were there glitches which required me going out to the counter to mention it (last time was during Skyfall--they neglected to pull the side curtains out when the feature started and this was rectified easily enough). They have full concessions and the restrooms are on the small side but reasonably kept-up. BONUS (and exceedingly rare in this business): the concession counter has a water cooler and cups, compliments of the house. I have been to many theaters that would charge you the soda price for that same cup, AND make you fill it at the drinking fountain. Riverwalk Theatre deserves to be complimented for offering this to its patrons free of charge. The awesome stuff about this little theater truly comes to light with regular patronage. For example, bringing in a bit of booze from the store across the way is perfectly acceptable providing you don't flaunt it or act the fool. Depending on the film and the company, this is a huge benefit. Just don't be that guy whose bottle clangs to the floor and rolls down the aisle. Another wonderful personal touch I cannot resist mentioning is that a few visits ago, the wife and I got in for $7 a head based on the fact that I was wearing my Never Summer hoodie and the dude selling tickets that evening rides a Never Summer board as well. An excellent local business that treats its customers well; not bad for our little movie theater. read more

Great old school theater. Really glad we made the visit. Will be going back. It is nice to sit back a drink a beer watching a movie in a nostalgic setting. They take debit/credit cards. Good screen. Good audio. Friendly staff. I wish more places like this existed. read more

This place is a dump. It is poorly maintained ...and my guess is that has been the case,for a veeeeeeeeeeery long time. Even the digital projectors don't work correctly. They have too many stutters. Seats are very uncomfortable. Way too small and don't recline. It appears that the owners couldn't care less. read more

I'm a big fan of supporting the little guy, but this one needs to try more. They only take cash (1800's anyone?), their popcorn smells good but doesn't taste good, and the staff wasn't particularly friendly. After dropping $120 on tickets and snacks for my family, I asked for an extra popcorn bag or tray to split it up. I was told no, but not given a reason. They've just lost the forest through the trees here and seem to be phoning it in on account of being the only game in the immediate area. read more

Need better management. The staff was all young and it was cash only. The movie started 15 minutes late because the projectionist was busy playing on his phone. I had to remind them of the start time and the movie was slightly out of focus the entire time. We spend too much money for a 3D movie to have poor service. read more

This might be the worst theater I've ever been to. I went to see Rocketman and there were red, blue and green vertical lines all over the screen. I got up and went out to have them fix it. They did a hard resetting of the system, which made the movie completely stop for over 10 minutes. When the movie started back up it had skipped ahead and I didn't see that part of the movie. I ended up seeing it at a REAL movie theater over his past weekend. The management at Riverwalk Theater didn't seem to care they were charging full price for a lousy projection. Don't waste your money going to see a movie here, you are better off waiting for it to come out on a streaming service. read more

This is a neat place. They serve ice cream and many other wonderful foods. They also serve wine and beer. The theater itself has a very cozy feel to it that is very lovable! If you have a free night I would recommend giving the Riverwalk Theater a visit! read more

This Place is absolutely horrible since they changed ownership last year. Won't honor the movie coupons they sold just before the ownership change. The Place is dirty, seating is uncomfortable and the staff is rude. Save your money. Stay at home and rent a movie or go anywhere else in the valley to see the latest movies. The Riverwalk theater's new "management" really has no regard for locals who have been going to this local community movie place for years. We have other options and are boycotting. read more
