Good as ever I was surprised to see lousy reviews on here about the food. We went on a Sunday bc they're in the United dining program and it was great burgers like the old days. Clean. Nice waitress. Not too crowded. Free parking on weekends. River burg $13.50 was huge, well made. Great burger like the old days. Cheddar, bacon, onion ring. Reminiscent of those old big burgers at burgers n beer. Fries were good too. My brother loved his cheesesteak wrap. Saw a nice girl cooking back there. It was all inexpensive too. 3 beers & the burg was $30 out the door. No complaints. I'll prob even be back. Haven't walked in here in 15 years and in spite of the lousy reviews it was same as ever. New owners no worries. I would like to start off by saying, that may have been a top 5 meal in my entire life. You might ask, "really? At Riverwood Cafe in Lakewood Ohio?," and to that I say,"I downloaded the Yelp app and made an account just to write this review," and allow me to explain. Last night, depending on who you ask, I may have had too many domestic light beers, so when I had risen from my slumber this morning there were few things that I desired more than some wings. Due to my poor planning, and the evil DoorDash driver I was unable to satisfy my starvation the previous night. So, at this point I'm hungover, and I haven't had food for more than 24 hours, the perfect storm for greatness. When the waitress brought the wings to our table I promise I could hear the sweet, heavenly ambience of a Fortnite chest serenading me. It was like listening to the Beatles for the first time. It was glorious. The way the thick, syrupy sauce engulfed each wing was statuesque. The way the light from our warm, dimly lit booth glistened off of them like a beautiful sunset off of still waters left nothing to be desired. These wings were so good I didn't even mind that the guy in the booth behind me was laughing at the volume of a Penn State whiteout game at Beaver the entire time I was there. Darts machine is extremely deceiving according the bartenders that were working on 11:42 pm on November 22nd 1 credit in the machine is equal to 4 dollars. Dart machine states it's 16 credits to play a doubles game of cricket. Upon discovering the newfound information, i attempted to get refund for my 2 dollars worth of quarters that i had already put into the machine (without the machine registering any monetary value that was input into the machine). The two bartenders immediately called security on me when i stated that i won't be paying 64 dollars for a game of cricket with my friend and that i would like a refund! I am saddened to say that my favorite go-to spot has changed ownership. The menu has not only changed/minimized, but the new ownership has greatly reduced the quality of food. The burgers here have been amazing for decades, but now are that of grade school cafeterias. I have eaten the food from the cooks here for many years and they are amazing. They truly care about each meal they send out the kitchen door, but you can only do so much with the minimal investment the new owners have put in place. A friend and I are always looking for new places for dinner and drinks. Around 5pm there were about 6-7 other patrons at the bar. The female bartender has no personality and ot very welcoming. No greeting at all. My friend enjoyed her wings but said they were too salty. I ordered a chicen sandwich which was gilled and overcooked. We both agreed the fries were great. Found my new favorite spot for wings!! The menu has so many flavor options, and so far I've tried the garlic Parmesan, and lemon pepper. Both varieties were fantastically flavorful, and the wings are huge and crispy, and not breaded (which I like). The blue cheese dressing was awesome and had huge chunks of cheese in it! Great local bar with a variety of beer on tap as well as in bottles, great happy hour $2 drafts from 4-9 pm Monday through Friday and daily food specials during the week. Cheap coors light beer flows incessantly during the browns, buckeyes, cavs and Indians games. You'll find this place grows on you after a few visits. There's a pool table located in the back corner that's always got some decent competition around it. Some of the best chicken wings you can get in the area(shoutout to champ and Kelly). Follows COVID regulations when it's convenient for them. Obnoxious rude bouncers allowing 20+ people to leave while still saying they're "full" to those waiting outside. How did they let their capacity get to this point if they're truly still "full"... unless they just don't want to work and have an easy night. Bartenders were nice, but their inconsistency and rude 'security' ruined my experience entirely. Highly suggest getting new, more professional security that either follow protocols or not. I used to live within walking distance of this place and I am completely kicking myself for never going there before for their taco Wednesdays. For $1 for a beef taco, I was expecting some wimpy little hard shell taco---nope. I got them with the hot sauce on it, and I'm glad I did--it definitely wasn't too hot, and it gave it a nice little kick with some extra flavor. I got 3 tacos and 2 draft beers, and my bill was only $7.24. Please tell me how you can beat that!??! I got there around 5:15 and there wasn't really a crowd, but when I left around 6:30 it was a lot busier. So, I would recommend getting there just a tad bit earlier in the night, but if you don't then it you should still be fine. The only reason I didn't give this 5 stars was because of the bartender. There was one in particular that ignored us a lot, but luckily a blonde one would recognize when we needed something and come over and help us out. I get really annoyed when a bartender looks you right in the eye and then just refuses to come over and see what you need. This little dive bar has the best happy hour I've found in Lakewood. $2 drafts from 4-9pm on weekdays and this includes the craft stuff. Pretty remarkable deal. For the look of a dive, they can pull in a pretty large crowd. The staff is super friendly, albeit understaffed most of the times I've been here. Typically you've got two bartenders running the bar and managing all of the booths and tables. On a busy night, you could be waiting a while for service. It's not the most spacious place, so expect to get a little friendly with the people around you on the weekends or if an Ohio sports game is going on. During the games they do $1.25 Coors Light bottles, so it's a hot spot for a cheap deal. Taco...Wednesday? While most places stick with the alliteration of Tuesday, I like that Riverwood dares to be different. If my first-born child makes the mistake of popping out on a Wednesday, I'll still find a way to make it to Riverwood for their taco night. All their drafts are $2 until 9pm on weekdays with terrific offerings that include Blue Moon, Stella Artois, New Belgium Fat Tire, Great Lakes, etc. They also have $1 Coors Light bottles during all Tribe games. Great little dive bar to frequent if you live in Lakewood! I come here quite often for the insane $2 draft special - you can get any of the beers on tap until 9 pm M-F. They also have a great taco night on Wednesdays with $1.25 beef tacos. These things are ridiculously addictive and the fact that they come with a spicy option makes me want to propose to the owner. The shells on these bad boys are similar to the shell that you get when you order a taco salad at a Mexican restaurant which is unique and why they are so tasty. They also have a fried fish, shrimp, and chicken option but they are usually $2.00-3.50 depending on the week. I'm not sure how late they serve them but it's at least 10 pm and they often run Corona and Cuervo specials on taco night if you're not into/past the draft deal. After a while the servers/bartenders start to recognize you, which is a nice perk. Honestly, I'm even starting to recognize the taco night crowd (looking at you pool sharks). For the 15 or so times I've been here I don't think I've had anything other than the tacos which is kind of pitiful, but give this place a shot if you're looking for cheap alcohol and tasty specials. They usually run game time deals as well. Probably not somewhere to take your out of town friends, but still a great stop- grab a drink, grab a snack, play some pool, watch a game. read more

My scattered thoughts on Riverwood aggregated from a bevy of over-drunken nights: I am not a local at this local bar in the same sense as the other true locals. I hail from the other side of Lakewood but that doesn't mean I don't know exactly what Riverwood is and has to offer. Cheap drinks - stopped in frequently with a small group of friends with the goal in mind of many beers. Many beers were had and rounds of shots were being bought without hesitation. The bar is simple and that's where its allure rises from. Pool table in the back which always has someone lurking it. Bathrooms are small and crappy but get the job done. Tall-backed, wooden booths make for a good fort to close yourself off from the rest of the bar crowd. I've heard the food is tasty. Nothing shy of simply executed bar food. Nothing at all wrong with that. I've also heard that during CLE sports games Riverwood likes to offer $1 PBRs. Although I'm not entirely sure now that I think about it. I just know that its a ridiculously cheap beer special. Its the cheap, local brewstop. Fridays and Saturdays can get quite packed after 10pm. I like stopping in on the weekdays so I can sit at the bar and relax, chat, watch TV. read more
