Outstanding choice for dining in Cleveland. If you are looking for a quintessential Cleveland…read moreexperience, this is it. The Rowley Inn is located in a nice neighborhood (Tremont) across the street from the Christmas Story house. I had three meals there. The first, loaded pierogis, was the ultimate comfort dish. Pierogis with potato centers were covered in diced kielbasa, bacon (yes, bacon), and covered in cheddar cheese. Ahhhhh. The others at my table raved about the kielbasa and pierogi dish. They also liked the beer selection. How do you know you have a great find? You think about the meal long after it is consumed. Next meal- breakfast. I had the kielbasa and pierogi omelet. Need I say more? Finally, we came back a third time and I ordered the burger. No burger place (save Chuckbox in Tempe, AZ) can match the Rowley burger. The burger is actually seasoned and cooked to order. I had it medium rare. Sheer perfection. Typing this review makes me sad because I live far away from Cleveland. If you are in The Land, you must drop everything you are doing to get to the Rowley Inn. It is a 8 minute drive from downtown.

A waitress came to take her order, but she was not very friendly and then it took forever to get our food. We only got two entrées to share between the three of us because we wanted to try to see what the fuss was about at this place. What we ate was decent, but honestly nothing that stuck with us enough to say- COME HERE! We definitely didn't understand all the good reviews when our food finally came out. They didn't even come out together and our second plate was wrong when it finally arrived so it had to get redone. So the service really got to us especially since there were only 2 other tables being waited on and a couple stragglers sitting at the bar. Parking is street parking in a neighborhood! So it can be hard during the day but we lucked out that evening.

Good cut and plenty large enough. Must have been 12 ounces of steak with little to no fat. Came with a salad and potato. I also had a bowl of chili which was really good. The door and drink here along with the service and ambiance make this a five star dive bar. I highly recommend!

The loaded nacho's are good. They have some spice with the cheese and jalapeños. But you get a decent portion for $5.75. Tacos were good. They are a flour tortilla that's is fried for hard taco. They also have $1 dogs during Gaurdians games. The basic beers on tap like bud light. Basic bar with basic liqueurs. I'd try something else next time. The guy who was serving us was nice. He had all the tables so he was running around. When the Gaurds game started the place filled up. It was also trivia night. We played 1 round and won. It was fun. Bottom line is a typical bar menu. Burgers, wraps, wings and every day is a special. They have basic bar drinks nothing fancy. Bunch of TV to watch the games. Seems like an OK Dads bar. Seems like a normal regular crowd that always goes.

As a sour dill pickle lover, I really loved the cucumber-flavor pickles. They are great for the burger -- adds even more flavor without overwhelming like some pickles can. The pickles taste how I imagine they would when only half through pickling process -- a combo of discernible cucumber with a mild dill flavor. Very nice. I was disappointed with the octopus. It was delicious and uber tender, but only one small tentacle -- not enough to share with anyone. My husband and I can share a meatball at most places but this tentacle was too small. The gnocchi that accompanied it could be a dish all its own. The gnocchi with the potato alone would make a great app. or entree. Example: Ketchup Martini had anchovy and herb oil. Confusing on the palate...and nothing stood out. Octopus dish was smothered a spicy chorizo. Had to scrap the chorizo off just to find the octopus...which had no chance of standing out after the other oils and spices. Shared fried chicken. A bit undercooked. What we could eat was ok...not extraordinary. Wine selection was abysmal. One red wine....in a can. Ceviche was excellent. Service was good.
