Pretty good bar food here. It was music trivia night (Thursday) cool concept. People seemed nice and it was clean for a bar I suppose. We had perch BLT, chicken fingers and perch tacos. Came here with some friends and I'm truly disappointed in the service here. When we first came in we were excited because they were playing great music that we could dance to. We never got approached to get our drink orders nor did we get great service. We waited a good 20 minutes before we even got noticed. When we got here we went to the bar and we saw that there was a bar back guy not really doing anything but looking at his phone. I asked him a question about their food and he totally ignored me. The guy that was sitting next to me even did a nervous laugh because he even noticed how rude this employee was. In addition, my husband just told me his experience and how the dark hair'd bartender looked at him directly in the eye and he tried to order from her but ignored him and went to someone else to take their order. He was waiting for 40 minutes to order some drinks and was being patient like he usually is, which is truly upsetting. A blonde bartender than noticed the situation and took my husband's drink order. So if you want to get crappy service and disappointing food, feel free to come here and waste your money. My group and I are truly disappointed with this first time experience here. Service service service It was a slow weekend but they definitely took great care of me. It was during NBA All-Star weekend I hit up this place with my plus one. It was my 1st time there so I basically tried a lil of everything on the menu. We ordered the spinach dip, veggie burger, wings "which were 50%", and Rueben with turkey. Everything was amazing and fresh and hot. The cook even came out and check on us to see if we were enjoying our meals. I'll definitely be coming back again for that Rueben and those wings. This is right in my neighborhood. It's a place that always feels comfortable when you get there. They have fantastic bar fare for food and a great beer selection including many craft beers. It's always crowded in the evenings, especially on weekends which shows they are doing something right. They also have a music trivia night on Thursday nights, I believe. Only reason this place doesn't get 5 stars is the parking can be a little difficult on a busy night, but just park in the next plaza and walk your ass over! Came here for the burger. I heard it was awesome. Since I wasn't a local, I got some really crappy ass drinks and attitude. I watched the lady next to me getting full glasses of kettle one, while I got a shot of bottom shelf vodka in a tall glass of water. The burger was sub par. I have been going to the Islander now and then for 20 years. Be advised the wings are NOT what they used to be. Waited a ridiculous long time for barmaid to acknowledge me (I am a female, maybe that's why) then waited a ridiculous long time to get 6 wings to go. The Garlic Parmesan wings were burnt, and nothing like they used to be! ( They used to be smothered in garlic, butter and parmesan) Could barely taste any of that there was so little on there. If you don't know about this place, you probably drive by it all the time! I found this place through Groupon. I have been there 3 times now in the past 6 months. I always order the burgers and an appetizer. Sometimes the bar area can get busy, I've only been there for lunch hours. I haven't had any problems with ordering food, I came to find out you do have to be a bit patient when it comes to getting your food, but its well worth it. I haven't tried anything bad on their menu from the times I have been there. If you havent tried this place look up on Groupon for their vouchers. I guarantee you'll come back to this place for more! We decided to give the Islander a go as we were in the mood for some bar food and saw a Groupon for it.The decor was inviting and fresh, if a tad dimly lit. Our waitress was kind, personable and attentive, even though she was tending bar as well. The chef/runner who delivered our food seemed genuinely interested in whether we enjoyed it/had everything we needed. However, the best thing about the Islander Bar and Grill was the food. Easily some of the best bar food I've ever had, we tried the chicken tenders (appetizer), spinach and artichoke dip (appetizer), cheeseburger with bacon and a seafood flatbread. The tenders were HUGE and perfectly breaded and fried, the spinach and artichoke dip was tasty and well-proportioned. My wife's burger was excellent even without condiments, the beef was juicy and the bun seared to perfection. The bacon was really thick and tasty, I'd definitely recommend adding bacon to your burger. The seafood flatbread was also very good, with plenty of shrimp, scallops and lobster meat topping a well-seasoned, cheesy crust. The only thing we weren't impressed by was the tortilla chips that came with the spinach dip. A minor complaint, for sure. Altogether, we both agreed we would absolutely come back to the Islander with or without a groupon in the future. 5/5 read more

Terrible bartender that was an a$$ to me and argued with me about applying cash to a bill and said it was not possible once the tab was paid however I never asked for them to run it. Long story short watch what you tip them because I chose $0 and they added themselves a $22 tip anyways. I will never be going there again and I do not recommend anyone else ever go there either. Drinks are way overpriced and customer service is terrible. His exact words when I said he will not get a tip was "I don't give a shit". It is narrow, dimly lit, there were more than a couple day drunks around the bar, and the service is not...effusive. I couldn't care less about all that- so I said lunch on. We were pleasantly surprised by the food quality. My sandwich had fresh, plentiful topics (grilled onions and peppers), was well seasoned, large and came with a side of hand cut truffle fries. My friend had a seafood quesadilla that had large pieces of fresh grilled shrimp. The $2 beer of the month was a solid Oktoberfest (win!). Fair prices and some decent happy hour specials. I'm writing this post in complete dismay as I have been to this location a few times, and though the service had been a little slow it was an acceptable time. Last night I went there for their Taco Tuesday with a couple of friends and sat at the bar. The first problem I had was having to wait to get a drink, when all three tenders looked at me but didn't come over to ask if I was in need for anything. I had to take call and stepped outside for 10 minutes, and upon my return my friend stated that they were unable to procure me a beverage as well as they were not able to order food either. After a few more minutes of waiting one of the tenders make their way over to take the drink order to which we decide to place our food order too. While placing our order the tender wanted to place it all on one ticket to which we stated that we're paying separately and to put them in that way. Then after a decent amount of time one order of ours comes out, after waiting (for what seems to be) about 5 minutes I begin to time for how long the remainder of our orders will. At the 13 minute mark of the timer, the second taco order comes out and at this moment I raise my hands to the tender in reference of "What is going on?" which she states "Listen, you wanted to place them separately and they're going to take a moment." and I decide to keep mouth shut because I have yet to receive my order. After 26 minutes on the timer my food finally arrives, I do enjoy. As our night wraps up I request to talk with the manager where the tender informs me that they do not have a manager at night but she can assist with. I recant the events and she asks "So do you want me to comp a drink for the inconvenience?" to which I was shocked by the non-concern by how everything has gone down. I state that everything's fine and that I'll just take my check, which she does take a drink off. I feel that the fact that there's no manager at night to talk with customers about their experience and address any issues is a fault in management, the fact that people are there for their specialty meal and it takes an exuberant amount of time for them to get it to the customers is outlandish, and the overall lack of concern by the employees about the satisfaction of their customers is failure by the entire organization. I will not state that I will never be back but it is going to be a long time as I feel that at this moment they are more concerned about the trivia crowd than the people that are coming in for the specials. read more

I've been here a few times with my girlfriend. It's basically one of the same copy-and-paste bar and grills you'll find in Strongsville (Panini's, Bilo's, Cleets, etc.). Not that there's anything wrong with that... it just has no personality or character. The food is normal and the service is normal... nothing impressive but nothing offensive. This neighborhood bar has the best wait staff around. One bartender can take care of the whole place and still be on top of everything. They have a very good selection of bar food and the portion sizes are large. What I like is that they with make adjustments to your order. They aim to please. Their seafood quesadilla is outstanding and stuffed full of seafood. The sauce they put on top is zesty and sooo......good. The place may not be fancy (a little old and dark) but the food is good and the staff is friendly. They have 1/2 appetizers at happy hour. read more
