This theater is kept really clean and the seats are so nice! They have heaters in them, though even on the lowest are too hot for me. There was a ton of staff working, I would honestly say too much. There were so many staff that they were constantly in the way when trying to get to the bathroom, drinks, or butter. The pop stations are easy to get to if you need a quick refill. I do like that the theater isn't overwhelmingly large so if you need a quick bathroom break, you don't have too far to go. I did dock a star because I feel the screens are pretty small. Very cool movie theater with a self-playing piano, very nice seats and housed in a large fancy building. Wish their concession stands had a bit more food options however - they only appear to have popcorn, nachos and candy. The Dolby ATMOS sound experience plus the vibrations in the seats also makes for an awesome viewing experience. Highly recommended! read more

The seats here are the best, hands down. They recline, are heated, roomy, and there's still plenty of room for people to walk through. I rarely go to movies, but went here twice in a week. Both times, but in different theaters, there were flies. They looked like fruit flies on steroids. It was pretty gross when they came right in front of your face. They reopen 10/12/23 after redoing the sound system and seats to be ready for the Taylor Swift concert movie. The seats recline, heat up and vibrate with the movie even the previews. I'm usually an AMC girl, because I am enrolled in their A-List program (3 movies per week, any format, $20 per month) but someone wanted to go here today with me and it was right near where we had lunch, so I decided to try it out. Pro's: -Decent matinee price, $7 per ticket. (Emagine Novi is $6 though, down the street) -It's part of the mall (Laurel Park Place) but way off on the west side of the mall; I was thinking it would be crazy busy today because of Black Friday shopping but it was not. -They have heated recliners ... I almost fell asleep but the heat was really nice. -I think all if not most of the theaters have Dolby sound, which was nice. -Go on their website and they have a coupon for a free small popcorn with concessions purchase; I printed it but didn't use it this time, though. Con's: -The recliners don't go back *all* the way, at least not compared to what I'm used to at Emagine Novi and AMC John R. It's more like the Dolby theater at AMC Forum. -The seating charts are a little misleading; in our theater, the aisle was to the right, so I thought I was booking an aisle seat and it was actually against the wall. Didn't matter because no one sat next to us, though. Overall this was a pretty nice theater so I would go back again, especially for the heated seats in the winter. read more

We have been going here for years and it used to be the only place with reclining chairs but now it's not. The last few times we have gone the popcorn was terrible. It tastes day old. Popcorn is cheap and doesn't take long to pop so there's no excuse to not have somewhat fresh popcorn. Also we went to a 3D movie and were not given the glasses. I had to go back and ask. It always looks like the staff are not there at times. 3 stars because the seats are nice, the actual movie quality it good and the smaller theatres are nice. But we probably won't be returning. read more

You are safe going to see a movie here. Reason I say that. 1) very limited seating and you choose your seat when you get your ticket. 2) online ticket order so you don't have to touch anything or anyone. 3) front door open and hand sanitizer on both sides of the door to the theater. 4) added ventilation and cleaning of seats between shows with paper tape on the clean ones. I wanted to see Wonder Woman 1984 in a theater since EBS and I saw the original in a theater. Our only movie together. I choose here to support a local small change. I knew the seats are comfortable even with someone with a problem back. The seats also have heat. I think there was only 8 or 9 of us enjoying the show. Since they make their money from concessions, I brought a blanket for $5.99 and a small Popcorn. They have Pepsi products so I skipped the pop. Service was great. They were happy that I came to support them. I will be back. Prices are reasonable. I hope more of us come back sooner than later. read more

Always a quiet little movie theater to see the shows that are sold out elsewhere. It reminds me of one of the old school privately owned theaters. It's always a treat to get away from the crowd and come here. The concessions are good and definitely not as high as some of the big name theaters in the area. This is one of the best theaters around. They have nice soft recliners and good projection and sound systems. My only criticism is that they don't pop their popcorn fresh; they lug it out of the back room in large bags. It wouldn't be that difficult to set up a popper like they used to do. Especially since they don't get big audiences like in the old days and should be able to keep up with demand. They also show older movies on some of their screens which appears to be the current trend. read more

HAZARD...been a frequent visitor of this theater for years, not anymore. Almost a month ago, we were there to see a new movie and I needed to exit the row 30 minutes into the start of the movie, upon attempting to do so, my foot jammed into the metal brackets that are sitting under the seats, these brackets do stick out enough that they are a hazard. I tripped hurling into a fall from seats 7-2 and caught myself at seat 1 in the row in front of me. This is the issue, the theater was crowded, darn near every seat had a body in it, of course, seats were reclined in our row and the row in front of us, making it a very narrow pathway for me to exit. I hit my shoulder on one of the reclined seats from the row in front of my row, and my AC joint in my shoulder was sprained from this. I was rushed to the ER. The manager Mike, was very non-caring and asked me if I wanted to continue watching the movie or leave to seek medical attention (I was almost in tears and holding my arm, why would he think I'd want to continue watching the movie). We asked about the refund since the movie had only been playing for 30 minutes and was a 2-hour and 18-minute movie, and he gave us the number to their corporate office and stated that corporate would process the refund. I reached out to corporate and received a return call from their "VP of Operations," Tearis Reid. From the beginning of the call, he was non-caring, spoke to me as if I was seeking some type of financial gain, condescending, and a bully. Every time I tried to speak on the call he interrupted me and spoke over me. My only ask was about the medical bill and what their process was for injuries sustained in their theater. I got nowhere, he was so rude, I told him to have a nice day, and I ended the call. I called my husband in tears because I was 1. still in pain (pain meds ER gave to me, I could only take at night so I could continue to work from home), 2. I had NEVER talked to anyone who manages operations as a "VP" in this manner, and 3. I felt humiliated. My husband called him later that day and was met with the same attitude and demeanor, so much so, my husband had to get loud with him because he was disrespecting him as well. Tearis made remarks stating that people are always trying to get something from the theater (like money), he also said their handbook teaches them NOT to be empathetic to guests, he also threw out the fact that he is from the "East Side" of Detroit, in a way to make my husband fearful of him. This guy should not be working in any capacity of customer service AT ALL, let alone a VICE PRESIDENT. I sent an email to the CEO Cory Jacobson informing him of this experience and the injury, I received an email from Tearis days later informing me that he processed a refund for the purchase price of our tickets. Below is that I included in my email to the CEO Cory: I am writing to formally request: 1. Immediate reimbursement for the tickets and snacks purchased, as we were unable to enjoy the movie due to this incident. 2. Clarification on how to submit my medical bill for reimbursement. 3. A thorough review of the safety hazards posed by the bracket placement, inadequate lighting, and restricted space caused by reclined seats, as these factors contributed significantly to my injury. 4. An internal review of Mr. Reid's conduct and an assessment of whether his approach aligns with your company's values. Of course, the only thing that has taken place is a reimbursement of the tickets. I am now in physical therapy for this injury and still on pain meds. If you value your safety, refrain from going to this theater. They do not take accountability for anything that happens on their premises. I tried to wait long enough to allow them to respond to the remaining ask that I had from my email and that did not happen. If you are wondering, we usually do not see movies on the first week they are out due to the crowds of people. We have since visited 2 other theaters that have ample walking space when seats are reclined. This place is outdated and should be reevaluated for safety reasons. read more

This theater was okay, in comparison to Emagine I can't say I'll be in a rush to go back. The seats are very comfortable and cozy, I really liked them. Only drawback is there is no stadium seating. The biggest con to this location is concessions. They offer no trays so if you need one, you better bring one from home. Also, you get your own butter and it's against policy to let you fill the popcorn halfway so you can get butter in the middle. I know this is a first world issue, but this would make me go elsewhere. read more

Recently saw a movie at this theater, the tickets were more expensive than any theater I've been too so if you're expecting a cheap movie date this is NOT the place for you. The chairs were covered in pet hair and I'm allergic to dogs so I was VERY itchy. There was trash under the seats and behind them. When I lifted up the arm rest there was more trash. Never buy concessions, the popcorn tasted stale like it was sitting for days. Not to mention the flies surrounded throughout the theater flying around, it was very distracting. My overall experience was a 0-10. Never go to this theater, AMC is wayyy better plus their tickets are very cheap. read more

Very disappointing. Used to love Phoenix theater even worked there for a while. However, concessions are crazy expensive and the place is now run by minors. They all seem miserable. The bathroom was gross. Sticky floors and urine smell that crept into the hallway. The actual theater was not much better. Flies and moths going in front of the screen throughout the entire movie. There was trash in the cup holders and in between the seats. The amount of garbage underneath the chairs was absolutely repulsing. If you attend a show at this theater, take a look under your seat. This is one of my favorite low-key theaters to go and visit. It's got HUGE black leather seats that not only recline but are heated!!! Now that's what I call a Hot idea and it turns off automatically so you don't get too hot or you can turn it back on if you'd like to keep the warmth rolling. Ontop of this they are also reclining and plush. I don't think this theatre offers imax of any special upgraded features but for the price and quality it's a go to theatre for certain releases. It's also well cleaned after every viewing with sterile solutions due to covid. This is a hometown theatre at its core that plays first run movies with a great screen and sound experience. They've got all the usually pop and popcorn options with some sweet candy treats to beat. If you haven't tried this theatre out before most showings are cheaper than other comparable companies and the experience is excellent. They also offer senior discounts to the elderly which is important to me that they show respect to their elders. So if you're in the area definitely check this place out for movies ranging from independent to blockbusters and you won't be dissatisfied. read more

I go back and forth between the Emagine and the Phoenix. this theater is a gem. It isn't crowded yet does do reserved seats. Seats are more comfortable than Emagine but also more narrow (you sit closer to your neighbor). The seats do have a heat function. The screens are smaller so sit closer than you would in another theater for a similar experience. The sound and projection are similar. The staff at concessions is where you can buy tickets too, if not online. They are laid back and very helpful. read more

Hidden gem in the middle of an office tower. When every other theater was sold out or too full...this place is definitely worth trying. Every seat is a comfy recliner WITH HEAT. They have ample room between seats and between rows. The screen we had was smaller than what we see at the larger emax at Emagine or imax at amc. But the theater itself is also much smaller and cozier. This place is more reminiscent of the relaxed low key movie nights of yesterday but with the added luxury of those recliners. It's so low key that you actually buy your movie ticket at the same place that you buy the popcorn! If you're looking for the fancy lobby and glitz of Emagine- you won't find it here but they do have a grand piano in the lobby...employees were all very engaged and courteous. Don't worry about not being able to reserve seats- that was almost a deal breaker for me but we were pleasantly surprised that reservations are really not needed here. Put it this way, we saw end game on a night when every damn seat was sold out for days at Emagine. Think their location probably limits their business...I admittedly forgot that this place existed prior to this visit. Another plus is the ample close parking. Interesting difference in the crowd dynamics- granted it was only one movie but they seem to have far more mature folks and families vs the teen mania at Emagine and amc. One negative- the restrooms were in need of attention. Smelled like a gas station..inexcusably unkept. I'm still giving them 5 stars though...hoping the bathroom thing was just an off night. Will see if management reads and responds to call I made the next day and update this review when I check in again. Tucked away in an office building behind Laurel Park Mall, Phoenix Theatre Laurel Park is a hidden gem. What I really love about this theatre, and what makes it my first choice theatre is the incredibly comfy reclining seats. These are not like the reclining seats at Emagine and other theatres that only partially recline. The theatre was remodeled a few years ago, to include seats that are big comfy leather couch like chairs, which makes it feel as relaxing and cozy as watching a movie in your own living room, only with surround sound and on the big screen. The arms of the chair also pull back if you prefer to cuddle with someone. It's not stadium style seating but the seats are still placed at an incline and are far enough apart, that I never have experienced a head in front of me. I also love that the crowds here are very minimal. It's never too busy and, I have often enjoyed the entire theatre to myself. Only time it's somewhat busy is for the opening night of big box office movies, but still not overwhelmingly so. They offer a matinee price of $6.50 before 6 pm and children and senior prices of $6.00. It's around $10.00 after 6 but I do believe they accept MoviePass. They are a smaller theatre and you buy your tickets at the concession stand rather than a separate box office. If you sign up for their e-mail program, they send you a coupon for a free popcorn in your e-mail. Overall, love this theatre! Beyond comfortable reclining seats, small quiet theatre with small crowds, and decent prices. I'll be back very soon! read more

The tickets are very reasonably priced compared to other theaters in the area, especially since they are reclining too. You can not pick your seats ahead of time, so get there early if you are particular about where you sit. Phoenix Theatre is honestly a gem in the Livonia area. A half mile away away the much more expensive AMC theatre, Phoenix Theatre is a breath of fresh air. I wrote previously that I adored the piano in the lobby -- still do. Ticket prices are incredibly cheap. Food is reasonably priced, while still being delicious. The best part, however, is that this location has brand new recliners. In every theatre. At every seat and, unlike the snobby Emagine theatre, you can seat wherever you like without feeling like you're above or below others. Service is always great and the employees always greet me with a smile and kind attitude. The place itself gets pretty packed on a weekend evening so I do recommend going either for a matinee on Friday or anytime during the weeknight.
