From the moment we stepped inside Riviera we were transported back in time. This place has a very cool vibe. What's old is new again, or so the saying goes. Great prices for club rental, pro shop, food and course fees. The servers and staff were all courteous and accommodating. We will definitely be back.

Established in 1953 Riviera Country Club still has all the old school charm and nostalgia of that era, although I've never hit a ball here I've been here on several occasions for dinner and cocktails. It definitely has been well maintained and I doubt if there have been many renovations to the club house over the years its decor and dark wooden finishes have been preserved to reflect the history of this club. The bar and dining areas are dated and that's one of the attractive qualities that I enjoy every time I come here. The staff is just as polished and provides great service and the food although simple is presented very well and delicious. I wouldn't change a thing.

A few colleagues and I were in town and had a free morning and ended up playing 18 here. We didn't have anything with us (clubs, golf attire, etc) but this place was perfect for us. Everyone was friendly and this definitely felt like 'Old Florida'. It's really quite charming. Everything was about $70, including 18 holes, cart, balls, and club rentals. It's not the most beautiful course but was great for our intermediate group! Would definitely recommend :)

    Sunset over the fourth hole.

This is the most wonderful little golf course you will ever come across. From the moment you enter the premises, their is a feeling in the air that rings of happiness and good old fashioned charm. The greens are well kept year-round, thanks to their superintendent Fred Rich. The facility is run by the Meyers family, a humble, down-to-Earth group of some of the best people I've ever come across. The rates are unbeatable for such a high-quality experience, it is truly a treat for golfers of any skill level. The course isn't particularly long, with scoring opportunities for skilled golfers, but mid-level players must work their way around various challenges that include well placed water hazards, strategically located trees, and fast greens that can occasionally be firm. Ever since they moved to Champions Bermuda 6 or 7 years ago, no public golf course in Volusia county has been able to match the quality of the greens. However, the quality of the greens is only surpassed by the quality of the people that make Riviera the pure golfing experience that it is. If you're a local who has never played here, or a tourist just stoping by, work out time to play this gem. I promise you won't regret it.

Loved breakfast at the Riviera Country Club this morning. Server Miss Roberta was a delight.

Best kept secret in town. You don't have to be a member to go to the restuarant. The prices are good, a lot of regulars come eat everyday

The course was challenging yet offering a pleasant outing for mid or high handicappers. Plenty of elevation changes, water and wide fairways. Greens were fast but true. The only suggestion I could make is please try and cut the holes in places that are less than two degrees of slope and less than 3 degrees of overall downhill slope as per the USGA recommended guidelines. I have a slope meter and oftentimes the holes are cut in places with more than three degrees of slope at the hole and over 6 degrees of total slope at the downhill which is typically reserved for major championships on the PGA tour just to put things into perspective. A little focus/education on this topic will go a long way in overall playability and will also improve pace of play. I don't think this is intentional I just don't believe the person(s) cutting the holes knows any better so a little training may go a long way. The above is just friendly advice that can be fixed easily to improve the overall quality of experience on the course regarding the correct way to cut a golf hole as I said originally the course is really playing great and a great value overall is to be had at Plantation Bay! Here is the ruling/suggestion from the USGA (again many locations I tracked during my round yesterday where over 3 degrees (almost double the suggested slope at hole) on green speeds of about a 9.5/10 if I had to guess. The USGA Course Rating System Guide says, "When a downhill roll on the Stimpmeter is 2 times greater in length than uphill, it is considered moderately sloped. When a downhill roll on the Stimpmeter is 3 times greater in length than uphill, it is considered steeply sloped."14 Over the years, the Green Section has suggested: The slope of a major portion of a putting green should usually not be greater than 3 percent (1.7 degrees), although some areas may exceed this for special reasons, such as difficult terrain or dramatic architectural effect.1s Based on current information, any slope 3% (1.7 degrees) or greater on a 10' Stimpmeter reading is too steep for hole use.

But the course has been back open for a few years and there are fairways that are just plain dirt. The green are ok, but are very slow.... I assume to keep them so get don't burn out. In comparison to Palm Harbor that the city took over and re-opened... I had thought the city of Flagler Beach was doing the same with this course but it is in desperate need of a complete grass and irrigation renovation. It is a shame, and I always come back because it would be a really nice 9 hole course (which we do not have any other 9 hole courses around) if they just would make the fairways more playable.

Hidden off the A1A between some condo high rises and back by the Publix, Walgreens and Shores Community Center. Don't let the name fool you. While it is called a golf club, and I guess there are memberships, it is very much a public course that aside from the brief times when they have leagues, you just show up and play. A few notables: - Right now the course is "under construction" which to me looks like they are just trying to grow some fresh grass on their tee boxes. This means right now it's all temp. tees which only make short holes even shorter. - You can check the layout and distances on their site before you play but right now I don't think anything except maybe #8 is over 100 yards and the shortest are in the mid-20's. You could load the ball in your ass and fart it on the green easier then using a club for something that short. - Obviously with a course this small there are no motorized carts. Everything is walking but they do rent pull carts and clubs and they sell balls and if you're so inclined tees. Do you really need a tee to play here? No, you can get by with a wedge and a putter although if you do rent clubs, they give you a bag with a putter, a wedge or two and an 8 and 9. - Was it busy? Not at all. It was a hot as hell Sunday and aside from two older guys who stopped around five to let us play through, we had the place to ourselves. The guy in the clubhouse said in summer they are usually dead and that most of their rounds are from snowbirds who play far more in winter when it's still warm, but not right now when it feels like you're playing on Mercury. - Hours are 7:30 to 6 during DST and until 5 during standard time. Overall the course is a bit beat up with some brown fairways and greens but the pricing is decent and it's always more fun when you mostly have the course to yourself. Next time in town, next year, guaranteed we'll be back. www.oceansgolfclub.com/

The food was your run of the mill banquet 3-choice menu style and quality. The 3 course began with a salad that was less than impressive and rather bland - I didn't even get my two cherry tomatoes, the Chicken Parmesan entrée was a healthy portion but lack flavor without the additional Kraft parmesan cheese topping and the cheesecake was by far the best of the meal, even if it was just a slice out of a Costco/Sam's Club box. The staff did accommodate the seating arrangement really well in a rectangle setup, where I could actually see everyone and it wasn't too cramped. The service had a rough start as they were eager to get the salads out when the Ice Tea needed refills - she wasn't too excited when I asked for a pitcher refill. Once the "rush" was done, she did come around a few times checking on the tea levels - service redeemed. They also assisted in taking our group pictures (which isn't easy with a large group of Sorority women) and though the quality of their picture-taking skills is questionable, the thought counted. Great place to take pictures and run into Golfers, but for food I'd make the effort to go off course.

There is a lot of water, though less than many other Brevard County area courses. They've done a lot of work on the greens, which are spacious and rolling, with excellently kept grass, providing ample opportunity for fade, draw reading of longer putts. It is a public course so the y greens do not always have repaired ball impact divots, nor fairway divot sanding. All carts have plenty of sand onboard to do so on fairways. The course has a nice driving range which is currently being upgraded and remains open. There are four tees of various distances on each hole providing opportunities to increase and decrease challenge levels, with both left and right doglegs. Finally, as a City owned course, fees are reasonable. I play Harbor City usually twice a week. There is a military veterans group each Sunday morning playing card draw-team, best ball scramble.
