Riviera Smiles gets a solid five star rating, my dental experience here has honestly changed the way I feel about going to the dentist. The brand new and beautiful ambience, sparkly clean atmosphere with a modern feel. It really took me back the moment I walked in, it felt like an art gallery not a cold dental office. Greeted warmly, it was very welcoming. If thats not enough the dental chairs are so modern, soft and have built in massage! Dr. Martinez is such a caring person, she is very personable and professional. She is calm and has warm, motherly energy. She takes the time to get to know each patient, and educates each person on the problems and how to take care of their teeth. She is very soft and makes sure every step of the way is handled with love and care. I went in for a cleaning and was taken back with the new technology and the way she cleaned my teeth it was exponential. My second experience was a cavity, I used to dread getting shots and fillings, however, I could have fallen asleep during the procedure. I was truly in shock that going to the dentist could be so enjoyable. This is my first ever review, an experience this good was not going to go without saying. I went to Dr Martinez because a crown came out and my own dentist couldn't see me for 2 1/2 weeks, she welcomed me into her office and treated me with the urgency that I expected from my own dentist and didn't get. I went here recently for a cleaning and this was the best dental experience I have ever had hands down. They even have massage chairs that are great while getting any work done. For x-rays, all you have to do is stand up and bite down onto a piece of plastic and the machine rotates around your entire head. No more individual pieces crammed down your throat! This review may be a bit late, however,,given my 2017 resolutions i felt compelled to get this off my chest as it has bothered me for some time. I have seen Dr. M twice . The first time was pleasant. I have many dental problems, an autoimmune disease and no dental insurance. I have been to many dentists and always they have given me dental plans that i Cannot afford nor can my mouth tolerate as i cannot open my mouth wide enough to comfortably fit partials or dentures. I have explained this many times and so thinking that Dr. M would see a different approach to my needs I came to her in 2014 I believe. I was given the usual dental plan which included partials and or dentures and or implants. Price tag of over $10,000. Well i went to see another dentist and had an implant put in . I would of had Dr. M do the procedure but she would have to send me elsewhere for that, I chose , because of my very very limited budget to have it done at another office. Yes I received another dental plan but I did have the implant put in with a payment plan that fit my budget at that time. I figured other simple dental needs I would go back to see Dr.M. Last year 2016 mid June , I may be wrong. I came to see her to have her look at a tooth with sensitivity problems and another tooth that was wearing down. I wanted a filling put in that one. Well I was hoping not to get a lecture from her but I did. I felt talked down too as she would not fill the tooth I wanted her to. She felt it would not do any good unless I took care of my other dental needs first. meaning $10,000. I am not your typical wealthy person . I have had many medical problems and I had expected Dr. M not to be so critical because My teeth are not like her typical patients. I tried to get this message across to her. I felt very little as she continued to lecture me. She referred me to a specialist that most likely would give me another dental plan I am unable to afford. I just took his name I did not seek his $200 consultation fee. Anyways, I felt I had to say something because it is for these reasons that people neglect seeing a dentist by being judged on how you maintain your teeth. Well that's my late review . I hope Dr. M was not offended that I had seen another dentist for the implant. Maybe that is why she would not fill a simple filling even if it was only going to be temporary. That' what I wanted and she refused to do it. I was just dissapointed with her reaction. Therefore tje 2 stars. First visit was 4 stars. I'm Fair. read more

Absolute NIGHTMARE! I have an extensive dental history including 3 TMJ and a Le Forte surgery, Dr. Martinez claimed to understand this, but had absolutely no business caring for me. I prepaid for my dental plan, which was primarily cosmetic, almost $12K. She did the most expensive treatment first (crowns) and then tells me that I have cavities, wouldn't it make sense to fill cavities before doing elective procedures? She put all of the temporary crowns in like a denture because "it would save time", I immediately and repeatedly told her about the unbearable pain I was having and that it felt like I had someone else's denture in my mouth and she made no attempt to resolve this for FIVE WEEKS!!! Despite my repeated pleas to rush the permanent crowns and my willingness to pay the extra fee to expedite, she never requested this of the lab. The lab stated to me that they "had issues with Dr. Martinez" but would not elaborate. I had tremendous swelling and pain, she referred me to another Dr. who stated that she should have NEVER kept my mouth open for FOUR HOURS and especially without a bite block. Come to find out, she does not "believe" in pain medicine because it "just numbs your brain", there are times when pain medicine is appropriate and this was one of them. I have always been self-conscious of my teeth and at 55 finally had the $ to do something about it. Now, I am even more conscious of my teeth because they are crooked, the midline of the upper and lower is not even aligned and it is obvious that these were paid for. She did not consult me regarding the color, but rather her secretary. The worst part of my treatment with Dr. Martinez is that she altered my bite which had been surgically perfected after years of TMJ problems, I had been pain free for 20 years until she attempted to create my "ideal bite". I have horrible crunching in my TMJs, and am unable to eat, bite, chew without considerable pain, 6 months later I still can only eat soft foods. It will be years before I can afford to repair the damage done, hopefully it is not irreparable. Her response to all of this was "I'm sorry you're disappointed". Disappointed would be welcomed, I have a loss of function as a result of this expensive and elective treatment, I never dreamed this would be my outcome. I question her ability and integrity and could not in good conscience recommend this dental practice to anyone. read more
