Unnecessary treatments, no numbing application was applied for my veneer when getting it put on, really high-end prices I decided to go here because I saw good reviews on here. I will say I have had no issues with the staff and they've all been very kind even doctor Denny as well no issues as far as hospitality. In fact, I loved everyone there. As far as the appointments, though, something was off and a little fishy. He had said one tooth had too many fillings and it needed a veneer so I did that and it was a huge amount of money. I think it was around $800. After that I had problems with the tooth and he said it could've been a hairline fracture or it could need a cap and he was ready to schedule an appointment for that. Not only that is he pointed out that I had about three teeth with cavities in it. I also asked him to shave down my teeth and some areas from some bad fillings. I had gotten previously from a different dentist and he never did that for me. I decided to go to Kendall Rhodes associates. They didn't find any of the cavities. There was nothing wrong with the tooth that he wanted to fix a hairline fracture for. Not only that is on a very first appointment the dentist smooth out my fillings without me having to ask, she knows it and said how terrible and just went into it. I'm blown away. I want to believe that this is a good dentist and that money isn't a contributing factor to the decisions he made on my teeth. But I'm having a really hard time justifying all the money that I've spent. I'm very thankful I went to another dentist where I feel like they aren't just trying to milk my money. read more

Dr. Denny and his staff are amazing. We always have a great experience with them, and that includes all areas: surgery/serious stuff, cleaning, and billing. We're so lucky to have a dentist we like and actually trust, so close to where we live. If your insurance won't cover this office in full do not go. Though they did warn me it may not be covered in full at my appointment, they told me they would work with my insurance company (I have a PPO through UCSB). Never got a call from them, but eventually got a bill in the mail with the total cost plus a financial charge for delayed payment (it was only $4, but a nickel and dime is a nickel and dime). It's too expensive for the uninsured or those whose insurance won't work with them, at almost $300 for a routine cleaning (no cavities or other concerns) plus photos of my mouth that they required me to get. The rest of the experience was fine, although there were some odd choices. For example, they brought me in from the waiting room to do the photos, then sent me back out to the waiting room before the cleaning. I won't be going back and, given the financial charge without having called me, it's not only because they didn't take my insurance. read more

I have to replace my 5 star review with this one because: 1. They do unnecessary treatments without letting you know that you have to pay for that and your insurance is not going to cover that. 2. They trying to charge for cancelling appointments you have never made. You just lost three patient at the same time: myself, my wife and my son whom I was going to start having him visit this place. read more

I moved to the West Coast in 2010 From Los Angeles. Ever since, my experiences with dentistry has been repugnant. Leaving me only to return back to Dr. Mulas on Sunset Blvd in Beverly Hills. Unfortunately, Dr. Mulas retired in 2016, reducing me to hunt yet again for an upper echelon dentist. My husband was frequenting a dentist in SB so I gave that a go. I had a root canal and needed a crown replacement which originally appeared like a chiclet. I asked the Doctor to replace the crown and to please make sure that the replacement doesn't appear like a huge chicklet. Well, he replaced that tooth with the same look! I went back 3 more times for a replacement where the dentist then asked me which tooth color I thought matched. This was abhorrent. 2019, Dec was the last visit to that Doctor, oh and btw, I'm leaving out the catastrophic hygienist. On June 7th I met with Doctor Denny's group. The office was oh so Covid aware, which brought my own anxiety about being out down tremendously. The hygienist was the most thorough, sparkly and conscientious experience I've ever had and Dr Denny himself was knowledgeable warm, friendly and honest. I'm very happy that their office is within walking distance of my home and that these folks are experts in their field. I've spent a lot of money on my pearls and I plan on keeping them for a long time. The Denny group is a great choice for preservation. read more

I called ahead and told them I needed to have a small chip on my front tooth filled. They quoted me between $200-500. I had the same cosmetic procedure performed by a different dentist for $150 a year prior. I had a wedding to attend in a few days so I needed to have it done regardless. I paid $480 dollars to have a small chip filled in. This is NOT ethical. My chip was very small and it took the dds about 20 min to complete the procedure read more

After a couple painful visits to a former dentistry, I took time to research a highly-valued and helpful dentist in the area. Fast forward to now and I am a happy patient of Dr. Denny's. He & his staff always greet me with a warm welcome. They are always so transparent and truly help me learn how to improve my dental hygiene and avoid worsening any preexisting conditions (special thanks to Trina for the advice/tips during my recent visit). Conveniently located on the mesa, Dr. Denny is an easygoing yet detail-oriented dentist. He does his best to help his patients understand what is going on with their teeth and oral health when I had seen him for an appointment. His staff is amazing as well. Cherie, the dental hygienist, is gentle with the gums and explains to patients the importance of preventative care. Miriam and Sabrina are wonderful dental assistants and manage the front office efficiently where patients are seen in a timely and consistent manner. I've been going to this dental office for a long time, since Mary J Wagner was the resident dentist, she was so gentle, I wasn't afraid to go to the dentist anymore. Then she went on maternity leave and her brother, Trevor Denny took over and he's been great. Not only is Trevor a good dentist and does good work, but the staff is also stellar. Cheri the hygienist is wonderful, she's gentle and does a great job. Miriam who is a dental assistant also holds down the reception and appointments is on the ball. They have great methods to remind you that your appointment is coming up via email and my insurance has been accepted here from each job that's provided dental insurance. I've had a handful of crowns, fillings and many cleanings here and it's the only place I've gone to since I found them. I used to go to a couple dentists that I loathed going to but now I'm really happy with my dentist and look forward to going even when I need major work. I've moved to Ventura, but I always return to Trevor Denny's dental office because I trust their work. I have recently relocated to the Santa Barbara area and looked at many reviews to find a dentist. Dr. Denny came highly recommended and I can say I totally agree. I have had a great deal of work done the past 6 months, over several visits, and the entire office has always been friendly, efficient, professional, and able to accommodate my needs. Mixed feelings. I went once for cleaning and exam and found dentist and back office staff great. Front desk was edgy with me for no reason, but I was pleased with chair care. Months later, I called to check next available appointment and said I would call back to schedule. Turns out front desk made me the appt anyway. I couldn't make that time, which is why I didn't schedule it. Not a big deal because I got text alerts and I phoned to cancel/rescheduled. Receptionist sounded angry and pissed off at me, although I was the one correcting her mistake. Then, I get more alerts for the same appointment, which I never made and already phoned and cancelled. Dr Denny's Email address doesn't work nor does their website contact form. So I phone AGAiN to confirm that I do not have an appointment on a day I can not make. Oops, turns out she had booked two appointments and she only cancelled one. She was not polite. As the front desk is so problematic, I decided to cancel further appointments. It's a shame Dr Denny's business is being crippled by unprofessional front desk person, most of the reviews are fake. read more

Dr. Denny and his staff are absolutely WONDERFUL. Forget about dreading going to the dentist, you are in good hands if you end up in this office. I feel like so many dentists out there are always trying to scrounge every dime they can out of you, pressuring you into extra cleanings, teeth whitening, unneeded dental work, not Dr. Denny. I have never felt pressure about anything. The office is wonderful, right up on the mesa with windows opened up to the ocean. I love that the televisions over the patient chairs play "Planet Earth"! My husband and I are currently in the process of moving out of state and when we were in for our last cleanings, we told the staff. A week later, Dr Denny had personally sent us a note after doing some research about dentists in the area to where we are moving, their background and schooling and which one he suggests would be best. I was completely shocked and so grateful for this wonderful personal note. I will miss these amazing people! read more

I found Dr. Denny because I needed a second opinion from an estimate to fill a cavity that I got from the dentist I was going to that came to $1700. It seemed so high and I couldn't really tell why I was getting a filling as he said he saw "a shadow" under an existing filling. I went to Dr. Denny and he looked at the same x-rays (and took his own to be sure), he said he didn't see any cavity and he did not recommend this treatment. It's been about 3 years and still nothing wrong with that tooth! We then switched my husband over to Dr. Denny and staff as well, and had him evaluate my husband's fillings that the other dentist thought should be replaced (for over $3000) and Dr. Denny said there wasn't any problem with them and he would monitor them, as the old fillings cracked we could replace them slowly as they were all still functioning fine. In short, Dr. Denny saved us from huge dental bills, and my husband and I have been very happy with their practice. The cleanings are always thorough, gentle, and filled with tips on how to keep my teeth healthy and what parts of my mouth look like they could use more work. The staff is always very pleasant and helpful. I would recommend Dr. Denny and his office to anyone! read more

I generally don't write reviews for personal things that have to do with my health, but I am so comfortable with and appreciative with this dentist, that it would be selfish to keep the secret of this place to myself. That is to say, if you are looking for a dentist in Santa Barbara, I'm not aware of any that are as caring and friendly as Dr. Denny's office. I moved to Santa Barbara in 2006, and now, even though I live in the Bay Area of San Francisco, I make it a point to visit Santa Barbara and visit my dentist as my appointments come up. Also, the recommendations I get from my hygienist aren't high pressure sales techniques but genuine solutions to common problems like - using a SoniCare toothbrush. When I leave, I always get a little travel pack with small travel-size tooth brush, toothpaste, floss, and gum. I'll continue making the trip down here as long as I love in California. read more

We moved to Santa Barbara two years ago. After one-offs with two other dentists (and their aggressive, gum-poking hygieneists), my wife lucked out and found Trevor Denny. Trevor's chair-side manner is down-to-earth and refreshing. He is a genuinely interesting human being, having traveled extensively in Asia and other continents volunteering his services along the way. The thing I like best about Trevor and his staff is they are prompt, efficient, and always seem to be implementing emerging best practices. They seem to have a long-term, sustainable and reputation-based strategy, which is definitely critical in a relatively small community like SB. As such, cosmetic considerations and upselling are kept to a polite minimum. I don't even think he's in our current provider network, but we're still going with him just because of the high regard he seems to hold his patients. read more

I love Dr. Denny's office! My family has been going there since it opened, and we have been very pleased. Dr. Denny is very knowledgable, and a great guy. He is always friendly and happy to answer any question you may have. The whole staff makes it a great office. We have been seeing Cherie, a hygienist, for years and she always makes it enjoyable to be at the dentist. We couldn't imagine going anywhere else! The office is also in a great location on the mesa with ocean views, has ample parking and is a very pretty office decorated with photos from many of Dr. Denny's travels.
