Basic. Average - C. Run here if you desire an unexpired experience. We arrived, we sat and we waited and waited. We started off with the escargot. Ugh! It was divine! Literally, perfect. It was juicy, garlicky, buttery and perfectly chewy. The pièce de résistance was dipping the bread in the buttery, garlicky sauce! We ended up ordering an additional escargot after tasting the first one. My mom and my brother's girlfriend also got french soup as an appetizer as well. It was just okay. For our entrees we got spaghetti with bolognese (my brother), roasted chicken and french fries (me), steak and french fries (the hubby and my brother's girlfriend). Out of all of the aforementioned, the roasted chicken was the best. It was good - juicy, cooked well and tasted like chicken, lol, nothing special. The spaghetti wasn't very good and my typically STARVING (yet forever skinny) brother barely touched it. Also, the steaks were okay, a bit over cooked and with some odd tasting side sauces. We were starving after a full day of wandering around museums and beautiful gardens, and Rivoli Park Tavern seemed inviting enough. If I had to do it again, I'd choose a different dinner destination. It wasn't terrible but there was nothing remarkable about it at all. When we walked in, the staff kind of didn't care and eventually ushered us to a table in the corner. I agree with the reviews here about them not liking Americans. We definitely got the vibe that we were not particularly exciting patrons. We were given menus, which were actually pretty large with lots of options. My husband got the french onion soup, which was honestly not a very good representation of the dish. It was like a cup of warm onion slices (not much caramelization and not cooked down enough) and covered in a layer of really greasy cheese. Not good. Then he ordered the sausages and frites. We honestly thought it was a joke when the plate hit the table. It was basically two hot dogs on either side of a pile of frites. The frites were good. Crispy and short like most European frites. The "hot dogs" actually tasted a lot better than American hot dogs. But really? And then I ordered the smoked salmon plate, which was literally a couple of slices of smoked salmon in the center of a plate and some toast points. After half a day of sightseeing and shopping, we found ourselves starving in the middle of Rue de Rivoli -- one of the most touristy areas in the World. Initially, I was quite skeptical about eating at a place right on Rue de Rivoli, as it usually means mediocre and overpriced food. But my trusted Yelp friend Alice G came to the rescue. Her positive 4-star review gave me the confidence to try this place. It was great! Prices were actually very reasonable, taking the location of the place into consideration. The escargots were good, flavorful and meaty. They were fresh snails cooked in their original shells just like most other places in France. The veal Normande was delicious. The thinly sliced veal cutlets were very tender and cooked to perfection. The marsala wine sauce was rich and creamy, and it brought a sweet and appetizing aroma to the table. Having been away from the US for a few days already, the burger lover in me was craving a cheeseburger. Yes, a cheeseburger in Paris! But Paris burgers could be really good too, just like this one. First off, the burger was not from a pre-made patty with fillers, but was made with fresh ground beef. One bite and you could taste the quality of the meat. It was a juicy burger, which means it's also slightly greasy - but hey, that's the good stuff! To make things even better, the fries were perfectly French! Arrived hungry. Left happy. It's very inviting from the outside but beware of the staff. They do not welcome nor want patrons who are not French. Our interaction started with me trying to speak in French and the lady at the bar giving me the most dirty look I have seen in years. Then the waiter took our order with such disdain and grabbed the menus from the table with such impatience and force. The drinks we got were mediocre, the WiFi was useful though. read more

Cafe Rivoli is great. As a tourist, my day was filled with unknowns and exploring. Located right outside Tuileries Garden and just a few blocks from the Westin, Cafe Rivoli was my home base for coffee and a quick breakfast. The staff is very friendly and the menu is easy to navigate. Great food and great people watching from the patio. Definitely recommend! read more

The staff were all extremely welcoming and friendly. We were offered a table to sit and the table next to us to set down our purses and shopping bags. The food came out pretty quick. I had a smoked salmon salad that was pretty good. First time we saw french onion soup on the menu in Paris! My friend ended up getting that and it looked just like it's counter part in the U.S. They serve pretty standard cafe foods that seems to be kind of standard for most cafes in Paris. It almost seems like you can switch out one cafe for another and you wouldn't really realize except for different restaurant decors. Overall they had decent food, not great but solid. read more

Solid four stars!! We came in, out of a torrential downpour soaked and hungry and tired- low expectations due to the location on tourist's row...Pleasantly surprised!!!! Excellent casual dining at its best! The waiter was charming, spoke English, French -was very accommodating! We had drinks, steak & frites, a cheeseburger, salad, and hot chocolate cake. My friends and I were walking around the tulleries and we wanted a cheaper restaurant. Luckily, we found café Rivoli. At first we though it was a very nice restaurant, however when we sat down, the staff was very uninviting and it took forever for us to get their attention for drinks. After 20 minutes, a lady walked over to take our order. She was beyond difficult and was giving us attitude just because we are Americans. We waited 20 minutes for our drinks and another 30 minutes for our food. The waiter finally brought out my friends food but then took it away after 5 minutes. 10 minutes later, they brought all of our food. I ordered a Cheeseburger and was very disappointed. I couldn't eat it all because the meat was absolutely revolting. Even the fries seemed like they were frozen. It ended up being 25€ for me, with a cheeseburger and an orange juice. Honestly, do not recommend. Don't go here their food is shit and same with their service. read more

This is a very reasonably priced restaurant in this area. The area is touristy and very chic. The escargot was very good. The owner when he found out we were Americans told us to come to his place for lunch, but pointed out a few nice restaurants in the area. Dessert was fantastic. I got chocolate mousse, rich and decadent, my wife got the apple tart, and she won that choice. A different crust in layered pastry but absolutely spectacular. read more

If I could give a 0.. I would give it 5 zeros in a row. Horrendous food, almost borderline rude service.. Tells us no plain croissant, then serves couple next to us who turn up 5min later with 2 plain croissants.. Food was microwaved. They treat foreigners like dirt in this place. AVOID IT!! read more

The owner came out and greeted us for lunch and was really accommodating. FINALLY was able to get myself French onion soup with the thickest topper of cheese. And my croque Monsieur was perfect. Wow! Just had the most amazing steak with pepper sauce, green beans (instead of fries) and wine here! Peppy waiter who livens up the place! Such a charming place! Looks like a coffee place from outside but step in and they even have a full bar and wine list! read more
