I promised myself I would cry happy tears at some point during this review. It is OK to cry, and it is not at all acceptable to go to any pizza place other than Rizza Pizza. Rizza is parmesan and pepperoni the best pizza place ever. Mario is the paragon of pizza preparation; his genius manifests in an edible lunch treat known only as the Chubby Stix. Let me narrate. Beneath the lambent twinkle of a red and white sits the sacred Rizza Pizza storefront. (Google describes it this way, but Google is sorely mistaken: "Casual strip-mall pizzeria serving classic pies, subs, calzones & wings, plus beer." Note the conspicuous absence of the miracle from the sky that is the Chubby Stix.) Behind the glass window the holy counter shimmers; a space momentarily vacant because in the back of Rizza, Mario, the inspired artisan, labors in a total hush over another pair of enchanting bars laden with golden cheese and layered in the hockey puck pepperoni Rizza is known for. To confirm that all is perfect on the Stix, Mario scrutinizes each inch of the Stix while he blesses it with a heap of parmesan. If a Stick is a creation worthy of Mario's approval--damn I'm getting hungry writing this review--then he anoints it in garlic herb butter. I have had some beautiful life experiences. I even saw a rose grow out of concrete before the CalTrans workers came back the next week and poured more concrete over it. Nothing is as wonderful as watching the cheese rise and fall on a Chubby Stick that Mario, the savior of pizza himself, has just summoned from pizza oven with his supple hands. The Stix are what prop up the city of Upland. They're the jewel of that Strip Mall. They keep customers coming and going back to Rizza Pizza for generations. Mario is not about the money. That's why there is only one Rizza Pizza. A rare institution of quality that bakes food so great I knew I was going to weep just dreaming in words about it. Now I am. Thank you Mario. I've looking at this place on Yelp for a while and what to me so long to check them out. This place is everything you will read about in every review and here's mine.I got the medium Rizza Pizza and a chubby stick and this pizza was loaded with toppings and they dont fall off when hold the slice by the crust like a pizza should be .SOOOOOOO GOOOOOD !! and the chubby stick was amazing packed with cheese and pepperoni I added pine apple to mine . Tucked back in the corner of a mostly empty strip mall, you really have to know that this place is there or you would never see it. The prices are very reasonable and you tend to get a lot for the money. We have been there numerous times and have really enjoyed the pizza every single time. We really enjoy the Rizza with Pepperoni, Canadian Bacon, Sausage, Mushrooms, Onions, Green Peppers & Tomatoes and Meat Lovers Pizza with Pepperoni, Sausage, Ground Beef, Ham & Bacon. But Rizza is more than just Pizza. The Cheese Ravioli's are to die for!. Ricotta Cheese stuffed pasta topped with meat sauce and LOTS of Mozzarella Cheese! You don't get much better that this. Add this with an order of the humongous Sausage Subs, Italian Sausage in Marinara sauce with LOTS of cheese and you have one great meal here. This is one of the absolute best Sausage Subs anywhere. The prices are very reasonable and the food in terrific. What more could you ask for from a "mom and pop" type pizza place. There are tables and booths inside to eat at, but we prefer to take our meals to go and enjoy them at home. Rizza is kind of located in a bad spot (behind Jim's Burgers) so you will not see it from the street. You really have to know about this place to find it. I tried to order pizza here. Apparently they were closed when I went in. The door was unlocked, no hours posted. There was someone picking up pizza at the time. Apparently looking on here his hours are 4:30-8:30 pm. It would be nice to have hours posted at the location and lock the door so know one comes in if you are closed. read more

The marinara sauce they use is incredibly flavorful. The toppings are generous and overall it's just a great pizza place. I gave one other chance to this place. Everyone talking about chubby sticks . All I see is the man in the back smoking not leaves, yelling at people begging to smoke what he has. Vegan friendly options. The dough is vegan. The sauce is vegan. They owner know how to keep veggie pies from getting to soggy. They crack the crust to drain liquid half way through cooking. So that the dough cooks thoroughly and holds its shape. You certainly wont get that from dominos or pizza hut since their ovens are a conveyer belt and those places only care about quanity produced over quality. Rizzas veggies are super fresh and loaded up so much you cant even see the sauce underneath. Quality you can see and taste. Ive ordered vegan pies and vegan chubby sticks.
