This was our first time at Rizzo, and I don't believe we will be back. I will start with the things I do appreciate about this place. The hummus was good, the dipping sauces were good and the salad was also good. All were small portions, which is OK but the flavor was on point. It wasn't magnificent, but it was good. The chicken and the meat that we got were very dry like if it had been sitting out under a lamp for many hours, I was worried I was going to get food poisoning (but hey we didn't). The establishment was incredibly smoky when we walked in very hazy from the cooking (Which I could get over). But- the most upsetting part of my experience overall, was that they served you a side of Hispanic tortillas with your meal instead of pita. You can see the tortilla package out on the counter and he pulls out two flour tortillas. Pita bread is not very expensive and it's actually really cheap to make and easy. Even buying pre made pita, we wouldn't have known if it was homemade or not. But the fact that they stoop so low to give tortillas bothered me so bad I'm not going to give this place another chance. I thought maybe they had run out of pita and had given us tortillas, but another review also mentioned the tortillas. read more

Just amaaaaaaaaazing food and service. Hands down the best hummus and meat platter in Treasure Valley. The platter starts off with a salad, followed by hummus, tzatziki, and straw fries. If you take nothing else from the following review, just know this: the falafel at Rizzo was one of the best I have ever had! Light, flavorful, and not greasy at all, everyone at the table agreed it was absolute perfection! Okay, on to the review. We came in last weekend as a party of 6 for my niece's 10th birthday lunch. We came in around 2:00pm on Sunday afternoon and were seated right away. The menu was large, but not overwhelming. We ordered baba ganoush and stuffed grape leaves to start, both absolutely delicious! The baba ganoush was smoky, creamy, smooth, divine, and the puffy, perfectly chewy flatbread that came with it had us all excited! The grape leaves were a bit spicy and so good. For entrees, my niece got a burger the size of her head! My son got the lentil soup and ate it up in 30 seconds flat, he loved it! He also got a yogurt drink that he thought may be similar to a lassi, but when it arrived it was served over ice and, to his surprise it was salty instead of sweet. At first he didn't like it, so I took it and started the drink it instead, but a minute later he took it back and drank up the whole thing. I think he just had to get over the initial shock of expecting a sweet flavor and instead getting the saltiness. The rest of us got wraps: chicken shawarma, falafel, chicken burrito. All delicious, with crispy fries on the side! No one had a bad word to say about any of it, especially because our mouths were full the entire time LOL Now, I will say that the service was a bit slow. However, our server was taking orders AND cooking the food alongside the chef in the semi-open kitchen, so it's no wonder he was a bit preoccupied. I've driving by many times and this place is unassuming from the outside. I was blown away by how good the food was. The falafel, chicken burrito, and meat shawarma were all some of the best I've had. (Definitely the best I've had in Boise). We were very excited to have a restaurant on the bench that wasn't run of the mill pizza or burgers. First time we tried it the rice was very flavorful buy the chicken tikka was dry, as if it had been cooked multiple times. The really bad experience happened yesterday. We ordered off of the menu that appears when you google them. The Rizzo stew and the shawarma...or so we thought. When we got there the person taking our money said that we ordered the $70 family platter, when we insisted multiple times that we orders the Rizzo stew, we were told that there was no Rizzo stew on the menu. When we showed them the menu on line attached to their website said they had Rizzo stew, they said that wasn't their menu. As to not cause a scene (after 3 times insisting that wasn't what we ordered a scene would have been inevitable) we paid for the family platter. Then when I later left a review and called the contact us # to leave a complaint. We were then confronted via text by the owners (who took a screenshot of my review and creepily sent it to me) and told us we were wrong and our bad review doesn't matter. This place was kind of ass. I don't like leaving negative reviews so i put 5 stars but I think you should make the portions bigger. I got the chicken Tikka and every other place I go to it stretches me 2 meals and always has a nice char on it, but this was barely a meal and I paid 20+ dollars for it. Also your pita was not pita, that was a tortilla, i ordered 2 extra for like 2$ a piece, I should have just gone to the winco value section. Honestly if the pita was actually pita, jt would have made up for everything else but bro, just spend 50 cents extra to get a quality product. Quite rude people. I called to order and asked how long the food would take, a very annoyed man answered. I get it, it's a restaurant, things can be crazy. The man took my name, order, and told to me wait 15 minutes. I show up about 20 minutes later and they were busy with two other customers. Again, totally expected. When I got to the counter, an annoyed lady asked me what I ordered and told me to wait. Maybe 5 minutes later, the guy I spoke with over the phone comes in and asks what I ordered. I confirm, and that's when I realize they did not even start my order. Okay, no problem, luckily I have time tonight. I wait an additional 30 minutes before my food is ready. At this point, no other customers were in the establishment - the place was super quiet. While I am waiting, I can hear them snickering in Arabic in the back, making fun of my name. There is absolutely no reason to disrespect your customers. One of the most special things about our state is the kindness of its people. A business owner should know better than to insult those who help him succeed. Anyways, the shawarmas were bland, burned, and the fries were soggy. The lentil soup could be better. It was completely empty when I came- I ordered the Baba Ganoush and the #28 shawarma with pita and got bread instead. The wait was longer than I expected. I got really sick from the sandwich unfortunately. Respectfully I think there was a language barrier so I can't blame the change in bread style.
