Sofia's used to be in our regular list of go-to spots for take out, but unfortunately it's suffered in the past year or so from a rise in prices and decline in consistency. Tonight our basket of fries, $6, was woefully under cooked and under seasoned. The two rice bowls, lamb ($23.99) and gyro ($16 or $17.99), were just bad. The rice was at least two days old and pasty, and had no lemon flavor. It shrunk away from the walls of the container as though it were dessicated. The gyro meat was in small shreds, as though the cook were trying to make the meat go further and the amount of gyro and lamb meat was at least 1/3 of what it used to be. Tomatoes used to be cut in wedges were now inconsistent, thin slices. And the onions weren't sliced anymore but diced small and dropped in a small patch of the tray. The BFG had a "weird flavor" as though something was old, but the pita was very good--and for the increased price, should have been better. As one who has been to Greece twice, I did used to enjoy a "taste of Athens" regularly, but the consistency issues are too much for a to-go order topping $77 with tip. read more

Our family went here and I got the gyro bowl with zucchini and mushrooms. I put some feta cheese on top and though I usually use tzatziki sauce, I almost felt it would ruin the meal because it was so good as is! The portion was so large I had half for lunch and am saving the rest for dinner. The rice with the grilled onions was so flavorful. This is definitely going to be one of my favorite spots for a healthy, delicious meal! My 1 1/2 year old who's been getting picky also loved it! I would give more than five stars if I could. read more

We love Sofia's Greek Bistro! Their rice bowls are amazing, so flavorful and filling. I got the gyro meat and my husband had the lamb, and both were absolutely delicious. The portions are generous, the prices are very reasonable, and the service is always friendly and fast. It's the perfect spot for a quick meal that doesn't sacrifice quality. Inside out: it's not a long distance (width of the road or farther if no near spots), but there is no upfront parking. There is plenty of seating inside and it looks like in the summer they would have plenty outside too! Service: fast and friendly Food: My husband and grandma split the lamb wrap and it was packed! They both commented on the quality and tenderness of the meat. I got the falafel and it was so fresh, the veggies, the bread, all of it! They come with fries, which were also excellent with fantastic fry sauce. A table near us got some rice bowls that looked excellent. It's a cute relaxed and colorful little place! My husband and I absolutely love this place. We both like Greek food a lot. The food has been exceptional every single time we have come over the last two years since we discovered it. Their hippie dippie sauce is bomb. Lice the chicken pita and the Zeus burger! Love this little hole in the wall. The colors are soothing and I really enjoyed the art on the walls - maybe could use a deep clean. The food was as expected. Large portion for combo plate - definitely enough to share - I have a food allergy and they were able to accommodate it, but it does mean my plate was not standard flavors. I like to go to Sofia's from time to time for some Greek style cuisine on my lunch break. I LOVE the low carb bowl option !! The lamb is usually pretty tasty especially with the veggies, feta and the yummy cucumber yogurt sauce ... mmm! There's a few reasons they don't earn the full 5 stars from me though... one is that they're crazy expensive. I get it that fresh, quality food costs more to make but lunch for just me here is usually in the $30 range which isn't bad every now and then but definitely can't afford to do that as much as I'd like, Secondly they often forget extras you add on- I really love feta and that yogurt sauce and have added an extra side of both multiple times but they end up giving me the regular little amount of sauce and cheese when I've paid $4 extra ($2 per each side) on top of the cost of the meal and lastly, they can be hit or miss... don't get me wrong, the food is generally very good but if it's a busier day for them, I typically get overcooked meat and/ or rice on days when I decide to get a meal with the lemon rice but when it's not as busy there, the food is excellent and cooked just right. It's still a place i'd recommend giving a try especially if you have a sudden craving for Greek food and you're in the area, I'd just keep in mind that their quality isn't always consistent, prices can be steep and if you add on sides.. make sure you get them before leaving the restaurant with your takeout order! read more

First off, I love their food and everything we've tried has been delicious. I'm writing a mixed review because I've had issues with mistakes for my orders. I order my pitas with no onion, and they've still put onions on it at least 4 times. When you pay 20 dollars for a pita you expect it to come out correct. The food here is okay. You may go home broke and hungry but it tastes good. The service is about what you would expect at a small cafe or bistro. The prices are what you would expect downtown. I and my roommate have been visiting this awesome place for the last four years. If it's a call in order or dinning in it's been amazing, hot and flavorful. they are still somewhat cost efficient compared to a lot of the competition and always friendly. Plus. The burger is awesome. The Hercules burger is awesome. The Zeus would be perfect if they did a little less feta cheese. Amazing taste but the cheese ---It does not need to be as thick as a burger patty. ---understand that is a personal opinion. Yum! We tried a few dishes, and they all hit the spot. The Gyro Bowl was a great blend of their lemon rice, grilled veggies, and shaved gyro meat. Absolutely stellar and great portion size. The Combo Plate had a delicious chicken and gyro combination and tasted amazing. The Falafel appetizer was perfection. Service was a bit slower, but it is a Greek restaurant so this encouraged us to converse a bit until the food arrived. We love this place so much we'Ve decided to go "Greek Fridays" and are repeat offenders of this place. We've narrowed down our favorite things and my boyfriend and I split it every time we go in. The portions are huge and between the two of us we still have leftovers. We get the fried halloumi, the Greek salad, and the rice bowl with gyro meat and it's always so so so so good. To start off I went to this restaurant back in October I believe for the first time and it was really good. Now the second time I just came in as of today (4/13/24) and we'll my girlfriend and I both got sandwiches. She got the lemon chicken sandwich and I got the falafel sandwich with fries. The lady who helped us was nice and friendly no doubt about that. We finally got our food and off the bat the pitas were both burnt, my girlfriends had lots of sauce and mine had barely any sauce in it, the pita was under cooked and then not to mention there was a hair in my food as well. If I could give negative stars I would. We had a craving for felafels so decided to try this place out. We did an online order of two of the falafel entrees and got them on time which was great for pick up but the amount of sauce included was so small it was a bit ridiculous and all of the falafels were way over cooked and so dry it was gross. I get getting orders in and ready in a timely manner but to get 12 falafels super fried and crumbling apart Inside was just terrible. $34 later I would never go there again to get more very disappointed. read more

I'm pleasantly surprised by this place! I've always avoided Greek restaurants because they rarely have vegan/vegetarian options but sofias accommodated me as best they could. I got their rice bowl but didn't really like any of the vegetables offered so only got grilled onions and kale. I also got a side of pita. I was prepared to be disappointed, but I was so happy to see that they gave a very generous portion and the onions and kale were sautéed and seasoned beautifully. The pita blew my socks off, warm and tasty with a slight crunch on the outside and pillow soft on the inside. The waitstaff was so friendly and im really happy I tried this place. read more

I have been privileged to enjoy a catered meal by them to celebrate a 90th birthday for Gentleman of Greek heritage. The food was amazing! I've also enjoyed many meals from their establishment in Boise. My favorite is the Big Fat Greek Gyro, but make no mistake, their other offerings are authentic family recipes. When Covid hit, these women offered meals to kids for free who would go without due to school closures. Tonight I ordered from door dash. I ordered a lamb rice bowl and a side of lemon patatas. When I got the food one box had a note that said "We only have potatoes on Saturday night. Sorry" I completely understand that some places offer a smaller menu on certain days, however, I opened the box to find a cup of rice in lieu of the side I had ordered. The cup of rice was 4.00. With this information I would rather have recanted my side order instead of paying 4.00 for a cup of rice. My opinion is for this business to please call and let your customer know about the circumstances; and to give them an option to either opt in or opt out of a substitute product you are willing to give to them. I wish there was an option for TEN STARS for businesses because this place absolutely deserves it! This place is like a 2 minute drive from my house. I've lived in my house now for 2 years, this May.
