    Chicken Shwarma

This restaurant/market is filled to the brim with amazing imported items that you won't find ANYWHERE else. The fattoush is so authentic (I grew up in Dearborn, MI so I grew up with real Lebanese cuisine), and the Chicken Shwarma is amazing! Please, if you have a free morning (they do breakfast!), afternoon or evening, check them out!

The best middle eastern food in Idaho is served here. Family owned and operated with flavors that transport you into the culinary ocean that is Iraq. This time I got the falafel imshakal and my brother got the chicken shawarma sandwich. The expectations coming in where high but they somehow where surpassed if I can give more stars I would the oil was clean so the falafel and fries tasted fresh and I can go on and on but from some1 who eats falafel and Arabic food minimum 3 times a week at different establishments each meal.. this is top tier food. If ur local to Boise frequent this place and try everything, they don't miss. Thank you to the chef for an amazing meal Happy eating.

Highly recommend, the food is good , fresh & has the Middle Eastern taste

We went to the Ishtar Market and Restaurant for lunch on the spur of the moment. The first thing one notes is the aroma of spices from the kitchen. We entered the restaurant and sat ourselves at a booth. The restaurant is intimate, with a welcoming atmosphere, unobtrusive instrumental background music, and colorfully decorated. The menu includes all the Mediterranean lunchtime favorites and in many combinations, making it easy to find something customized. Between the two of us, we ordered lentil soup, hummus, falafel, kibbeh, and hot tea. Service was prompt. The staff brought out our meals within minutes, fresh from the kitchen. Portions are decently sized and priced, and comes with sammon bread (good for DYI sandwiches. My falafel was crispy on the outside, moist within, and the kibbeh also perfectly cooked.

We enjoyed this authentic restaurant The falafel and the humus as well as tabouli were all made from scratch. They use fresh lemon ..... not bottled.... The pita type bread was moist and was tasty as well as artistically presented. The staff were extremely patient with all my food allergy questions. The store was well stocked and off to the side was a nicely decorated dining area Not super fancy but authentic and quality There were subtle flavors we hadn't seen before .... A mango and spice dip that was good on bread and falafel The baklava is some of the best I have had .... Not too sweet but super flavor so you could enjoy the walnuts ..... will be back to try more PS the reason I didn't give 5stars .... They could improve the entrance. Needs to have better sine age on front doors

The food at Ishtar is outstanding and fresh. First time there and we were really pleased. The restaurant is a modest addition to the market, however the food that they are serving is the best middle eastern food that we have had in Boise this far. This will now be our go-to for middle eastern food. The bread was fresh and warm on presentation. The tabouleh was amazing and freshly prepared. The babaganoush was smoky and creamy. I had the Mushakal Iraqi and both meats (chicken and meat (kofta)) were delicious. My wife's falafel sandwich could have used some more tahini, but was delicious. Basically, we felt like we had a home cooked meal prepared by the owners (who were so kind and attentive). So bottom line... try this place. It''s all about the food here, and so far I think this is the best in Boise!

The most flavorful middle eastern food I've ever had! We got the lamb kebab and #19 (I can't remember what it was called but it was amazing marinated chicken and shawarma meat). Everything had incredible flavor. The staff were very accommodating and nice to us. We also got baklava and it was the best I've ever had. We enjoyed the soft music and the fun aquarium video playing! We will definitely be back. It's also connected to a nice market we got some goods at!

    Karak tea.

I don't think the falafel was even homemade. They looked and tasted frozen. I was very disappointed in the meal. It looks pretty, but had no flavor. Also, parking. There is absolutely no parking. The surrounding businesses wont let you park in their connected lot. You will get towed. Parking in their lot, you pull in and there isn't a back road, you have to put your vehicle in reverse to get out. Can he dangerous if you park all the way in.

A friend of mine practically lives here- every other day, like clockwork- and the last time I joined, he ordered a full mezze-style spread that felt straight out of the Mediterranean coast: impossibly creamy hummus, cool and garlicky tzatziki, perfectly seasoned kebabs, fresh veggies, warm pita... dish after dish, each one better than the last. This is a casual, no-frills kind of place- so don't come expecting anything overly polished or upscale. The missing star from others? It's purely about the ambiance. But the food? That's a full five. What really shines is the quality, the authenticity, and the consistency. Everything tastes fresh, vibrant, and nourishing- the kind of meal that feels both indulgent and genuinely good for you. Add in friendly, welcoming service, and it's easy to see why people keep coming back.
