The estate planning process went well. Be prepared for your final meeting that pitch to sell you annuity is part of that meeting. They get commission for being servicing agent. Told we would meet avg twice a year regarding annuity. I called after year of hearing nothing left VM for serving agent. My mom made an appt for her trust and she went and said she felt very rushed and felt they were trying to make her do things with her retirement that she didn't want to. As soon as she left she got an email for her to sign an agreement with them for $4000 , I asked her if she wanted to try and go back but she said no not after they treated her and pushed her off on to someone e else. read more

We went in to RJP to update our trust and met with Chris Cohan. He was simply amazing, and such a difference from when we first created the trust with another company. Wow, was I impressed. He was very knowledgeable, professional, friendly and made us feel so very welcome. He sat with us and went over everything that was different from our first trust, and advised us what we needed to change. There was so many things the first firm miss, but he did not!! After our first of three meetings with him, we knew we had found the perfect partner for our family's security. The cost of the service, including a meeting with an attorney to go into the legal depths was very well priced. Everyone from the receptionist, his legal assistants, and the warm cookies made us feel at home. I attended an outside seminar this company hosted at a retirement community. I believe the original advertisement listed Trusts as their only product. That was the only product I was interested in so maybe that's the only thing I saw. The seminar was good, the only things discussed were Trust products, no investment products. At the end they said "if you buy today with a $300 deposit, you get the Trust for roughly half price". I don't like this kind of salesmanship to put pressure on you to make a quick decision, especially with seniors. But other than this "tactic" I thought everything looked professional and legitimate. I signed up. Yesterday I had my final meeting at their office to pay the balance and pick up my trust. The representative went over the contents of the trust very thoroughly. They did have a minor error that I caught listing 3 unknown people as my Successor Trustees but this was on a form to be made into a wallet card with their phone #'s to contact them if I was in an accident and incapacitated. This was an honest mistake. My main issue with this company regards pressure tactics as a captive in their office after going through a long presentation of the trust without announcing we were finished with the trust and we were now moving into a sales presentation on annuities that they offered. I would have been ok if they said, we are now done with your trust, would you be interested in hearing about annuities for your portfolio?...but that's not what happened. The Sales person pulled out another sheet of paper and started asking me about my assets in 10 different categories. I thought this info was needed and relevant to the trust and I had this info with me along with account numbers etc... I gave him information for each category with account names and dollars invested or values if I had something in that category. One category was annuities. He also asked my Social Security monthly check and my Pension monthly check. My antenna started to go up since these questions seemed related to my trust but not necessary for setting up my trust. He then asked if I thought my S.S. and pension were enough to live on and I said yes. He then suggested having a fixed income stream from a safe product that would always be there as something to consider. He then asked if I knew anything about annuities. I said I knew a little about them...(I did not tell him but I knew they were an insurance product with traditionally high commissions and/or hidden fees and that this product was not right for my situation). He then told me the history of traditional Annuities and market situations in the past where they were not great but that current market conditions were favorable for annuities and especially a newer product on the market. I stopped him here and said, "it sounds like you are trying to sell me a product". He then said I was about to learn a lot more about annuities. I interpreted his tone to mean I was about to learn about them whether I wanted to or not and had no choice. I then responded with "I'm not comfortable with this conversation". He seemed shocked or surprised, took a breath and immediately went back to the trust to finish that up. I lost respect for this individual and the company regarding this tactic. I was ok to consider talking about annuities had it been presented as an optional topic, separate from the Trust Product I was there for but it was not done that way. It was instead woven into the Trust Product conversation which I resented and I was now losing trust in him and the company if they train all their people to use this tactic which blurs the line between fiduciary and sales person for personal benefit. I'm a senior that is still of relatively sound mind. But a lot of my contemporaries are not so lucky and could easily be pressured into buying something that was not right for them. As a captive in a private office, after a long meeting having just shared all sorts of personal information and building trust with the representative, the client or maybe now the prospect is vulnerable to being persuaded or pushed into a decision they should not be making at that time. A discussion about financial products is a separate meeting on a separate day knowing the topic to be discussed and agreeing to participate in that meeting/sales presentation. I believe the Trust product I purchased from RJP is an excellent product at a reasonable price. I also believe, based on my experience that you will be upsold financial products during your Trust final meeting and not given a choice about that presentation. I was not impressed when it was obvious what he was doing and I cut him off quickly. I was curious to see how far this guy would go if I acted passive and let him continue his pitch. How insistent would he have gotten with me? How insistent will he get with you? Be ready to tell him to zip it if you are not interested in hearing a pitch on annuities. read more

Went there some time ago because my now 92 yo mother wanted to update her Trust. neither one of us were impressed, and apparently there's not enough in the 'family coffers' for them to go beyond the initial 'cursory' review. Frankly, I don't believe the young man who was assigned to speak with us knew too much about what he was doing. Mom wasn't a candidate for purchasing any 'instruments' due to her age, so NO real opportunity for additional sales there. My parents had a Trust made with RJP Estate Planning in 2016. They were happy with the RJP process. My father passed in 2022. RJP asked my mom and me to come to their office at no charge to be sure all accounts were titled correctly and the Trust read the way my Mom wanted it to read. With AZ being a Community Property state, it's easy when the first spouse passes because everything becomes the property of the surviving spouse. But when that surviving spouse passes, if the Trust is not specific and items are left undone, the trustees can have a difficult time and probate could become real. The Trust needs to protect all property from the expensive probate court. We had a meeting with Susan from RJP to go over the Trust. She was patient, kind and explained in simple terms, all we needed to know. My Mom wanted a few changes and we are in the middle of getting them done. I'd highly recommend Susan and RJP for a family trust to protect your family's assets. read more

This company managed my mother's estate and did a poor job. They did such a poor job that now I have to go to probate court because of all the details they missed. Do NOT expect customer service or assistance. The so-called complimentary trustee consultation consisted of a man telling me about his love for civil war memorabilia and dismissing my requests for specific information relating to the trust documents and when I tried to refocus the discussion gently he suggested that I asked people for "help" rather than demand. Firstly, I did no such thing. Secondly, my mom taught me well, and I learned how to be respectful and polite at an early age - What I actually needed from this clearly condescending older man was for us to discuss matters as equal adult. I even asked for his "expertise" which in hindsight was flattery because he treated me like a kindergartner who knew nothing and he was so "wise". The consult consisted of him rattling off boilerplate information and condolences and the rest was hearing about how much he knew about civil war memorabilia. Not my thing anyway but what the hell? The so-called guidance was a VERY general checklist he emailed me that was missing multiple universally required tasks and that was it. He ignored my requests for specific information relating to the trust just as he had my mom along with the rest of the team there. I still have mom's call notes documenting how many times she called RPJ for assistance and to update her trust. How can they sleep at night? She spent even her last weeks without a response after recovering from a triple bypass. The scripted condolences were just that - scripted. They don't care at all. Sign here, give us your money. DO NOT HIRE THEM. Do it yourself with an online legal service or go somewhere else. Sorry to be harsh but the idea that you would treat me this way is one thing, but to treat my mom that way in her last days on this earth is despicable to me. read more

They treated us awful, were so disrespectful and made errors which they acknowledged but refused to correct. When we complained, we were told to never return. We set up our Living Family Trust with National Future Benefits. They were somehow taken over by RJP. We've twice had to deal with JP; once before they had offices in Tucson, and once since. The first time, a man came from the Scottsdale office and met with us. He asked for all kinds of account information that he shouldn't have any interest in, took a credit card to charge for updating some of our forms and then was never heard from again. We contacted them multiple times and when we gained no response had to filed a complaint with the Attorney General. We were very worried. Then, a kind and professional attorney quickly did the work free of charge on their behalf. We have no idea what that man did with all of our account or credit card info. Then, we recently received a letter telling us that we needed to make an appointment due to changes in the law. We made the appointment, drove across town to their office (where no one was wearing a mask during the pandemic), and we met with the rudest young woman who kept rifling through our legal documents, started re-arranging our documents, started looking at our account info, etc. and when we asked her to stop her nosey and invasive behavior, she was somehow offended. We asked what we were there for and she said they needed to tell us that unless we create another document (at a fee) our trustee would not have access to all of our accounts. When we questioned that, we learned that we could just supply our trustee with the account numbers, pins, etc. and there would be no problem. We also brought a Codicil to be notarized (they agreed to that when we called) and she balked saying that Notaries have the right to choose which documents they Notarize, but then notarized it after being a #$& and rudely asking, "are you a legal document preparer?" No, but we can read, and we are tired of paying others to type up a new version of a page that we can retype. They try to get your money and account information every way they can, are horribly unreliable and rude to deal with, and are pretty invasive and inappropriate. I would not recommend them at all. read more
