A guy from Road One Paving stopped at my house on September 20th 2024 and said they were doing a small job in my area and he was looking for more work to keep his crew busy. He told me he would prep and pave my driveway for $5000.00. He took measurements and said he would be back to map everything out. Later that day I saw all the trucks leaving my area. I was a bit confused as it appeared they would do my driveway that day. I sent them a email to the email provided on the business card he left with me and got absolutely no response. I can not recommend using this company as they seem a bit shady and dishonest. read more

Hired them to tear out and repave about a 150 section of our driveway which had cracked in the middle. On the day they came, they discovered that the pavement was quite a bit thicker than the standard thickness of 3". We were not aware that this was an issue, but if we were asked, could easily have determined how thick it was by going back through our records. But I discovered on my own, after the fact that there is an easy method of determining the thickness, using a crowbar to make a hole down along the edge, washing that edge with a bit of water (so the tape measure will grab, instead of slipping), and measuring with a tape measure. Takes perhaps 2 or 3 minutes. He had a fit, because he had to go get the excavator, with the extra costs of not actually coming prepared to do the job, which was his fault. Then, he decided to charge us an extra $5,000 for removing about 235 cu. ft. of asphalt, lowering it to $4,700. I did my own estimate for the increased scope of the job, including the 4 hours of the excavator, at $200/hr., extra trucking costs, extra stone, extra labor, and disposal fees, and came up with an extra cost of $2,400. I showed him the breakdown, and he could not refute any of it, but just kept moaning about having to stop work, and go get the excavator, with the extra fuel used for that, which was entirely his own fault. My advice would be not to hire these people, because apparently, if they find a way to, they will overcharge you for something big time. read more

Do not do business with this company. They not only did a terrible job on our driveway, but did not live up to the warranty. They never returned our phone calls and were rude when we finally got them to come to our house. When they finally did show up to do the repairs under their warranty, they left trash in our yard, played basketball on my court without asking, and never completed the job correctly. Very unprofessional. They're the worst company I've ever dealt with hands down. Do not do business with this company!!!!! read more

Road One Paving came out in the same day to provide a quote on repaving and extending my driveway. I had four previous quotes and all were within my budget AND within a hundred dollars or so of each other. I had done some research prior to requesting quotes so I had a pretty good idea of what this particular job would cost (plus or minus a few hundred). I had not disclosed my budget prior to obtaining their quotes so I was clearly dealing with four very reputable and honest companies. This is huge. But still, who doesn't want to get "one more quote" with the hopes of them being just as honest and reputable, but maybe a little less expensive? When one of the owners (I forget his name) came out and provided me their 5 minute assessment and quote, I was absolutely FLOORED! Their quote came in over $1000.00 more than all the others. When I conveyed this tidbit of information, he dropped his quote by $1300.00 in a matter of seconds! What a great deal huh? Yes, and if all I were interested in was saving money and not the integrity and professionalism of a good company, I would have chosen them over all the others because they came in cheaper than all the rest. I did not choose Road One Paving for my driveway. I was disappointed at their very blatant attempt to take advantage of me. I will choose a more honest and professional company and I will certainly pass the word about Road One Paving. I am not sure if this gentleman thought because I was a woman, I wouldn't possess the knowledge or the intestinal fortitude to call him out on bad business practices which I think they need to revisit and adjust to reflect a more honest local business that good honest people would enjoy dealing with. Road One Paving gave us a quote for a gravel driveway but we could never get in touch with them to schedule the actual job! Their answering service says they will get back to you the same day but it took us 3 weeks to speak to an actual person. My husband called four times and I called twice. A lady called from the company this morning to set something up (my last phone call was last Friday) and all I could think was, are you kidding me?
