I had explained to this school that my wife was very nerves and what would it take to have her pass the driving test and that I was not going to be able to help her. They said 3 lessens I can get her to pass and at 5 I can make her a very good driver. at the 5th lessens I decided to go for a test drive she couldn't even stay within the lines and stop on a line. So I talked to the instructor that I was not happy and that the driving test was a week away he offered a lower rate for two more lessons. She failed her driving test I texted the instructor and I was not happy he texted that maybe I should help her wow. I next test I went with a different school for two lesson I could see that my wife's confidence went sky high I asked what was the difference she said that the instructor really explained every thing to her and she pasted the test. So I fill if you really know how to drive and just need to practice go with Apex but if you really want to learn I would not recommend them I fill we wasted a lot of time and money and I explained every thing up front to them before we started. read more

He gave an upfront explanation of what each drive would consist of and afterwards he would spend time talking to us and going over everything. I got my Driving license at Costa Mesa yesterday on my first attempt. I just had 5 sessions with APEX, I never driven car before. James trained me very well. He made me comfortable from the day 1 and keep guiding me for DMV drive test. His suggestions and best practices helped me to clear the test very easily. James is the only driving instructor I was ever able to "stick with"; I've taken many driving lessons before, but my driving anxiety was so bad, that no one else was able to put me at ease. I'm from NYC so I never learned how to drive, and the older I got, the more anxious I became about driving. I found James/Apex driving school through Yelp. I am so glad I called him. Before I found Apex, I was hesitant to think that a stranger would take my teen son alone driving, but once I met James, that was not even a concern anymore. He made us feel very comfortable and was flexible with lesson times and even pick up locations. He took time to explain things and the hows and whys of not only the vehicle functions but road rules and safety. After each lesson James took time to talk to my son about the lesson and what he could do to improve which was very helpful. He was very clear with us at the end of the third lesson that our son was ready to pass the test but that the more practice my son had, the better he will be no just when taking the test but in the long run. He encouraged us to continue practicing with our son. James did not have my son's certificate arrive on time for my sons's driving test which meant we had to reschedule the test date and for that reason, he offered to take him for a free one hour lesson in which he went above and beyond taking him not just a round my home, but actually a few cities away to where my son had scheduled his driving test and took him through the DMV route. I appreciated this because to me it meant James cares about his students and helping them succeed. James was AWESOME. My son passed his test with an excellent score and I will call him again when it is time for my daughter to drive. I am very happy with his service. read more

I took driving lessons with Apex and passed my driving test the first time! I am an international recent graduate who had to move to Irvine for work.
