It's very charming and adds a little edge with how barbaric some parts of the attraction are but it honestly was so fun and unique. I heard they're planning to demolish this style of playground (lots of blisters and spiders honestly, this place hasn't been well kept in a while and even has mold on a lot of the planks.) I will still be very sad to see it go. :/ I can see why this might not be such a major attraction to children for the lack of colors and honestly it looks a bit daunting and medieval but what's without a little fun with something unusual? I'm glad I got to experience it at least once before it goes and at least I made a memory with it now. Lovely view too of the lake and so pretty and quiet.

My Wife and I walked over on our way out. What a pleasant surprise. Granted, there is stiff competition with the ocean only a few yards away, literally but this small park has tons of charm. We sat on the bench next to the water and it was awesome. My Wife noticed a secret path that takes you further down the waters edge for some awesome relaxation. We startled a couple ducks chilling on the edge or rather, they startled me when I almost walked up to them before they moved and I noticed them. lol It's also a good place to let your pets roam but there are no pet waste bags available. So... BYOPPB The bathrooms were clean and the parking lot has several spots to add for beach access. There is even a place to store your surf board's while you're using the parks amenities.

There is a promenade of sorts with benches between the parking lot and the beach. There are a fair number of benches that offer a perfect opportunity for sitting and taking in the gorgeous views. We experienced one of the best sunsets ever from this convenient beach. D River has a fun history as once being listed in the Guiness Book of World Records as the shortest river. There is a little debate over that fact now, but it doesn't take away from the novelty. Visitors can explore the short river, collect rocks, fly a kite or just take in the views. Everyone is likely to enjoy this delightful park!

It is recommended not the summit the "Thumb" due to wear and tear to the trail and to preserve the beauty of the sight. You can see it very well from the grassy viewpoint. I did this as a loop which took roughly 5 miles and had 1138 ft elevation gain. Completed in under two hours. The trail is hilly and well traveled. Tree roots stick out where many people have walked. Heading up some of the steeper slopes can also be difficult due to loose dirt. Bring good hiking shoes.

There are a few picnic tables scattered around the parking lot with the best ocean view if you don't want to or can't walk down to the beach - which is usually very windy and on the chilly side. We've always brought a picnic or gotten take out at one of the eateries just up the road (something at the 60's Cafe is a good choice). We tailgate or just eat inside our truck because of the wind. It doesn't matter since coming to see the ocean is the goal. On any given day I could just roll down the window enough to hear the roaring surf and take a nap. Someone mentioned the birds. Yes, lots of them: seagulls & crows especially. Just be careful if you have food (bread & crackers draw them like a magnet), they are pretty bold and don't seem to be afraid of people. The beach is apparently very dog friendly as almost everyone there the day we were had one or two. It was nice to see a free "poop bag" station and people actually using it. Road's End is considered a State Park and is well-maintained by Park Rangers. Best of all? No use fees! Definitely my Happy Place in Lincoln City.

It doesn't get much more coastal than this region…read more We were really fortunate to visit the Oregon Coast in November on a clear Thanksgiving holiday weekend. Nothing but sunshine greeted us. No rain, fog or clouds dampened our road trip. The weather this week where we visited: Coos Bay, Florence, Newport, Yachats, Depoe Bay forecasted rain and wind with even a gale warning in some parts. The Oregon Coast is so beautiful! Thor's Well in Yachats at high tide was amazing to see. At low tide we saw some brave folks walk down towards the edge of that gaping hole. In Florence we descended down 208-ft in an elevator to the Sea Lion Caves... we didn't get a chance to see any sea lions at the time but the cave was cool to see. In Newport was where we saw sea lions bask and roll about at the docks just below Clearwater Restaurant and Port Dock One in Historic Bayfront. FREE! No matter the season, the Oregon Coast is a rejuvenating getaway. We enjoyed visiting the coastal cities, admiring lighthouses, making footprints in the sand, dining on the coast, checking out unique souvenir shops, seeing miles and miles of public coastline that continue to be free and public... captivated by the beauty of the mighty Pacific Ocean. A wooded area near Regatta Grounds Park with a hiking trail and various off-shoots. I found the…read morearea online when researching trails in nearby. We decided to continue on from Regatta and make ourselves a loop around Spring Lake and back to the park. The trail entrance nearest the park was obvious, yet clearly not very used as it was fairly overgrown. But as we proceeded towards the back side of the small lake the trail opened a bit more. There are many options of paths that take off randomly, but we kept to the outer loop which crossed a (somewhat sturdy) bridge and into the more forested side of the lake. Once we'd rounded the water and made our way to the road side we saw the open space sign, some parking, and a more substantial trail entrance. It's not the most fabulous trail around, but it's a decent leg stretcher and a way to extend the Regatta trail if you'd like a bit more.
