Tina is the worst bartender I have ever encountered. She cares about her regulars but likes to SCAM those who are not. Make sure you watch her pour your drinks. Our first time here. We got tickets to their Summer BBQ dinner and Show. It's a great space and the entertainers were fabulous. We tried a few drinks and they were made well and service was friendly at the bar, Plenty of off street parking around back. They have two gender neutral bathrooms with stalls in them. Not an issue except the stalls are the American kind that barely close. If you're going to do this, give me a full door with no cracks. And honestly that should be the way every bathroom is. read more

Happy Pride, ROC! I've been to Roar on a couple of occasions for drag shows, birthday celebrations, and more, and it is truly one of the best places to gather with friends and know you'll have an amazing time. Bartenders here are speedy and know how to work the crowds super effectively. I have yet to enjoy any of their food items but I've heard really good things. If you take a look at their website or social the team here does a great job of keeping event listings up to date, and there truly is something for everyone. They do a huge lift for the community during Pride month (June nationally, July locally) and beyond. SO glad Roar exists and excited for the next time I'll get to drop by! read more

Finally got to visit ROAR- as they were under the limitations of Orange status because of Covid. But the food to go was fantastic! We had the grilled chicken sandwich and a Cowboy burger. Will definitely stop again to get food, and look forward to the day when they can again be welcoming crowds for shows, dances and fun. read more

I absolutely love Roar and DeeDee's comeback is inspiring. I love frequenting this venue and I really feel at home when at Roar. I personally thank DeeDee for bringing back a space for the LGBTQAI+ community. I just wanted to mention a few things that might save you some headache down the line. Two weeks ago, I sprained my ankle badly (grade 3 sprain) at Roar which resulted in the tearing of all the major tendons in my ankle. I will need physical therapy to work away the scar tissue. The goal is to regain functionality of my ankle again but my PCP is not entirely hopeful. This is, of course, my own fault for drinking and dancing--but I feel it's important to note the wet dance floor from spilled drinks. The orthopedic surgeon seems to think such a severe sprain wouldn't have happened with some "perfect storm" features in place. Today (11/27/19) I went to Roar again (ankle taped up and in a cast lol) with some friends. The bartender near the corner by the stairs looked us over twice in a row. I'm not one to cry misogyny but it seemed like he was more concerned serving the men first. I can also admit that it's possible he wasn't sure where the areas of responsibility were drawn (since the bar is divided into sections by the bartenders). Either way, it totally sucked and made us feel rejected. When I finally ordered, I asked for two double vodka sodas. I could be wrong here, but I felt the drinks weren't doubles. Granted, I'm willing to give the benefit of the doubt here. When I asked if he heard me correctly (asking for doubles), he said, "honey, I could just not serve you." At 2:11AM EST, my group and I were waiting for an Uber. As you can imagine, Uber was backed up from demand. A woman in long straight black hair with bangs wearing a security shirt came over and asked how long our Uber would be. We said 12 minutes. She said, "well, that's too long, you're going to have to wait outside." Honestly, this doesn't make any of us feel like the LGBTQAI+ community matters to this establishment. Two of my friends didn't have coats. I argued back and asked to wait inside. Eventually she agreed to let us stay until our ride came. Either way, the whole entirety of the bar was pushed outside and I felt it was pretty insensitive to push individuals outside. To add insult to injury, the same security guard kept saying, "go home to your families! It's Thanksgiving!" And it's like...many of us in the community don't have families. That's why we're here. PS I feel it is important to say Jimmy (bartender) came over and stuck up for us/helped make things right. I also want to note another security guard with short hair showed incredible compassion and was asking everyone if they wanted to wait between the double doors to stay warm. I don't think she was on the clock, but carried herself as if she was familiar with the business. I truly appreciated her kindness, as did many others. You do an immense amount for the LGBTQAI+ community and I truly appreciate it. I hope this feedback will help you foster a more trusting relationship with the community going forward. This space arguably isn't trying to cater to me, but I truly enjoyed it. We went in support of a friend's first gig, and it was a lot of fun. The acoustics were great for the small space, the bartenders were very friendly even though they were swamped prettY quickly. They could have used a 3rd person on a Friday night, but they got to everyone eventually and were nice to each. The main floor feels spacious with a wrap around bar, and the upstairs offers more private space with booths and tables if you're watching a show but want a more intimate setting. I bet it's wild when it's more full and the shows are louder. Not sure I'll be back soon, but I looking forward to when I am. read more

They have the kindest security here. I had to pee while I was in the middle of a really long line that wasn't moving and a security guard named Mama let me leave the line to use the restroom. My group and I had also lost our IDs and debit cards and Mama was kind enough to take our information and text us when she found our cards. One star honestly feels like too much for my experience at Roar. The club was fun for the 15 minutes I was there before a female security guard dragged me down the stairs by the wrist and pulled me by the waist and hips while accusing me of drinking my friend's drink (I did crunch one of his ice cubes which she claimed was me sucking it down) and screamed at me in the lobby before kicking me out without listening to anything I tried to say. I showed up, looked around, waited 10 minutes in the bathroom, and then got kicked out and yelled at by the door woman who said "I told you I TOLD YOU" and ignored me saying I swear I didn't drink anything because as I said, I didn't.
