When we arrived at the launch site, the Camelot staff were helpful and excited. We were able to get up several thousand feet and we could see around the valley and the peaks surrounding the balloon. We went on kind of a whim, so I had no idea that we were going to pass through Glenwood Canyon, when I planned our itinerary. This was such a treat! The canyon views will take your breath away. Some of the rock formations looked like ancient cities. There was some construction happening during our drive, so it reduced the speed to 40 MPH, which we were glad happened because we were able to observe the majestic views. I did not want this ride to end. There are some rest stops along the way, so you can get out and explore a bit more outside of your car. We stopped at one and had access to the Colorado River and that was nice to see... looked like there was a trail for hiking and biking, too. Glenwood Canyon is a definitely must, when visiting Colorado. I was glad that we did this during the summer and not during our visit in the winter. I can't imagine driving through this, when it's icy, snowy and has the potential for avalanches. Colorado has some of the most amazing change in terrain and things will just pop-up and surprise you, like this place did.

Once you enter the East side of the canyon, the adorable town of Glenwood Springs and the relaxing hot springs are only a few more minutes away. His insight, illustrations and suggestions for my CFII written exam got me a 100% (!!) which later impressed the DPE (FAA examiner). Loren worked with me and took me through all the required maneuvers and approaches to near perfection (hard to do in mountain turbulence). When I went for my checkride, it almost seemed easy compared to all the focused training. I'm amazed at how well prepared I was for this rating - all due to the expert and competency of my instructor. I highly recommend this flight school.

It is so good to see that Hanging Lake recovered on its own from the mudslides a few years ago…read more Nature is a magical thing. If you are able to take your time and take this hike a slower pace you should. We rushed up the incline, which doesn't feel like one on the legs but breathing sure was tough. We were trying to beat the storm rolling in. They told us at the gate that if a the storm rolled in we would hear a lot horn and everyone is required to evacuate so, whether you make it or not you have to leave. Since this is now a timed pass to hike this trail we didn't want to have to come back because of a storm. So, we rushed up and in the last 5 min it es you climb some questionable steps with a handrail but any one could slip through that rail system not just small children. If you get anxiety at heights this may not be for you. I don't love heights but I was able to do this one by just focusing on one foot I front of the other. It was unlike any Lake I have ever seen. The water is a beautiful aqua green which is naturally occurring. You won't regret it, so book that pass now!
