This is one of the highlights of this hotel. The covered parking garage is free and makes life in Gatlinburg less of a hassle as there is no free street parking. Given the hotels location smack in the middle of all the action, you can pretty much walk to all Parkway attractions. Check in. Very easy and pleasant! All front desk workers were kind and polite. The room. It could be better but it could also be a lot worse! Yeah the room was a bit dated and could use a facelift but most importantly it's clean and comfortable. All rooms do have a balcony but my supposed "Mountain View" was a sad view of the parking lot fronted by the butt end of a mountain side. Not really the breathtaking view I had envisioned. But eh! That's what going to the National park is supposed to serve. If the view is important to you, request a city view. Breakfast. Prefacing by saying that any free breakfast is definitely appreciated BUT this leaves a little to be desired. Some more options would be nice. I had expected some muffins, bagels, maybe a waffle machine as well. Continental staples if ya know what I mean. But again, it's enough to satisfy. Facilities. Nice pool deck area with a spa and gym. It was flooded with kids and partiers on the weekend but was calm and quiet for my brief visit on a Sunday afternoon at 2pm. Location. THIS is the real reason to stay at this hotel. It truly doesn't get much better. As noted, all parkway attractions are walkable from here. Even better is the five minute drive to Great Smokey Mountain National Park. Miscellaneous. Okay so pretty much everything about my stay was pleasant but one major complaint I do have here is the noise level. I know that Gatlinburg is somewhat of a party destination but omg the loud music shook my room late at night. The walls are paper thin which is frustrating enough without the added nuisance. The hotel NEEDS some type of policy like no loud music and pool closure at 10pm. Price was pretty much on point with the neighboring hotels so if given my pick of the lot I would choose this place again!

Parking garage is $16 a night, which is doable, but the spaces are so unbelievable small that the driver has to pull out in order for the passenger to be able to get in unless you wanna bump the other car door... Elevator was beyond slow, which we had heard that in reviews... when you have two elevators and 800 rooms that makes sense right. It needs some definite maintenance attention. I told my husband, I'm just going to go with well-known name hotels from now on. And the bathroom door couldn't close tight... the door was too big or lopsided or something..... all in all the carpets in this room need to be cleaned or something there's a definite pee smell! After dealing with a spider in the tub and an asian giant hornet in the living area, I was woken up at midnight by a large roach crawling across my arm. Between the peeling wallpaper and a broken bathroom heat lamp that required maintenance, it is clear the property has significantly declined since our last visit years ago. We left exhausted for a six-hour drive home with less than two hours of sleep, and despite requesting a call from management, I have been completely ignored. Unless you enjoy living with bugs and being dismissed by staff, avoid this hotel at all costs.

I took my mom here for her 75th birthday in May of 2018 and had a delightful time. The location,…read morelooking south towards the Great Smoky Mountains National Park was peaceful, and even though it was a short downhill drive to Gatlinburg, it felt like it was miles away. We were greeted by one of the managers when we arrived who made us feel welcome. While there is not daily housekeeping, we had more than enough towels (and coffee pods!) for our three night stay. There was a fire through this area back in 2016. There is no sign of the fire in the remaining lodge building. Off to the side, up a hill, are the foundations of former their lodge buildings and restaurant. The view to the south includes some burned trees in the distance, but I found that it didn't take away from the ambiance. Due to the fire, the does lodge have a more remote feeling due to the lack of telephone, cable, or internet. We didn't miss any of these, and we had reasonable cell phone reception. I look forward to seeing the lodge thrive again and wish the owners the best in their continued renewal.

It's unfortunate what happened with the fires back in 2016 but the business keeps on pushing through. They still have a decent amount of amenities even without the other spaces they had offered before the fires. The rooms are a decent size, especially for two people. They offer a full sized kitchen which was nice so we didn't have to eat out every night. The balcony is cute & have great views of mt leconte. The bed was comfy & everything was clean. They had plush robes in the closet which were super comfy & great to put on after a hot bath in the spa tub in the bathroom. They also maintain hiking trails right by the lodge & they had a nice set up by the creek, there was a bathroom down there & a fire pit and lots of chairs set up. The lodge is only a mile up the road from downtown & the national park entrance so it's in close proximity to alot of great things. The only issue we ran into was not enough parking but we made it work. Overall had a great experience here & would definitely stay here again.

Parking's an issue if you're arriving when the bistro is open. We were always able to find a space, but sometimes not near the cabin. There are a couple signs for "cabin parking" but they were frequently moved, taken down, or ignored. Something the lodge should really fix. Roomy living space, couch, several more upholstered chairs, dining table. Wood burning fireplace (in season). Smartest TV I've seen in a hotel room. Most every streaming service you could think of, and when one wasn't there, it was a breeze to download and add. Full kitchen, basic plates, glasses, silverware. Paper towels provided. Microwave, oven, toaster, dishwasher, full fridge. A few ice trays. If you plan to do your own cooking, plan to take anything more you need. Roomy bathroom, walk in shower, great water pressure. Bed was wavy when moving, so a little partner disturbance, and wife complained it was not great on her back. Ok, but could use a refresh. Daily service as you need; leave a card with what you'd like checked each morning on the door. Overall an excellent place to stay in Townsend. Enough issues that for the price, we may look around a bit before returning.

I am writing this review on day one and I am stuck here for the next three days. Being surprised by me experience so far, I started reading these reviews and finally found one with some of the same issues with noise, etc. that we are experiencing, only to find the response by the property trying to dispute that guests experiences. I can't wait to see how they respond to mine. We arrived last night to our "cabin" and I thought there must be a mistake. It looked like I was looking into a duplex storefront of some sort and specifically, I was seeing the side of the business not meant for customers. Unfortunately, this was my "cabin". The original cabins seem to still be here, but these are new additions. Imagine you wanted to slap up some shacks as cheaply and quickly as possible to just cram people in, this is what you would end up with. Here are some amenities to look forward to: You will have a seating area that is basically your kitchen, a bathroom in between and then a bedroom in back where, if you love firm beds, prepare to be amazed. And don't forget, you will get to hear every footstep, syllable and cough of your neighbors on the other side of your paper thin wall! What an opportunity to make new friends! And just for good measure, you can awake to the sounds of housekeeping next door sounding like they are working on a demolition project as well as there constant driving up and down the road in front of your "cabin" on the gravel road. We went to dinner in their award winning restaurant last night. I wonder if the judges are the staff and owners in these competitions? I only mock this because when we dined here before, the food was art. The meals were unforgettable and memories you would discuss for years. I may discuss last nights meal for years, but not for the same reasons. To be fair, my wife had the mussels which she said were amazing. I settled on two shareables, the beef tips and the pork belly with Brussels. The beef tips were edible but if felt like someone was trying to take some beef trimmings and fancy them up to look like a real chef came up with something innovative. The pork belly was ghastly. I have had and made pork belly for years and this was embarrassing. It was 1 inch of un-rendered fat with a shaving of meat attached drowned in a spicy sauce in the hopes you wouldn't notice you were chewing on the same bite ten minutes later. Further, our server was one of those than cannot stop talking. For goodness sake, you may just as well pull up a chair and order something. I was worried this one might just follow us back to our room. This used to be owned by Blackberry Farm, but apparently was sold to some family who has destroyed what was once a true gem. This used to be one of the only places in this region that wasn't a tourist trap. I read the reviews of late here, and I can only think these are from people who never got to experience what this place once was and who would be just as happy at one of the tourist dives in Gatlinburg. I was taking a few days from work but I see no reason whatsoever to not just work remotely for the next three days to try and take my mind off of this nightmare.
