No one was there so she was able to run both. I then took her over to the playground area because she likes to slide down the slide. So she ran around there and then two kids showed up and we played for about 30 minutes. Nice Park It has the dog park, basketball and a kids playground. Today I went it was very clean and well kept. Plenty of parking. Bathrooms were clean.

They also have a couple of pavilions to hang out either after you play a sports or if you just want to chill for a bit. This park offers a lot of tranquillity and I enjoyed my time here. The park is decently maintains and while I was here on a Monday afternoon, there were quite a few people here with me. The park is a bit off of the beaten path, so you will have to go down a few back roads to get here. Perhaps that is part of its charm up here. It is definitely a place for the neighborhood. It would be worth your time to come check here out, enjoy a minute or two. Be advised that I did not see any walking path, but there were people with dogs walking across the sport fields. Candyland Park is located in one of Longwood's older residential areas. The land was part of John Neill Searcy's original homestead grant. He also donated the land for the nearby Longwood Memorial Gardens Cemetery which abuts the park and it is where he was laid to rest. Candyland Park was named as a companion park to Longwood's former Peppermint Park. Candyland Park came to be in the early 70's as a place for a second set of baseball fields and tennis courts for the growing suburb. The Skylark subdivision was platted in 1972 and it began construction in 1973, north of the Longdale neighborhood. The City of Longwood required that five percent of the land be set aside for recreation. Candyland was chosen as the name because it went went with the already named Peppermint Park. Peppermint Park was closed and dismantled when the city built a new police station in 1985. Today Candyland Park is a 17.5-acre community park with a variety of sports and recreational amenities. There is a softball field, two minor league Babe Ruth baseball fields, a full-size Babe Ruth Baseball field, t-ball field, two practice fields, one tennis court, six pickleball courts, two full basketball courts, a futsal court, modular skate park, a BMX/Skate Pump Track, two picnic pavilions, picnic tables, and grill, and a playground. There are also bleachers, and a restroom and concession stand building. Candyland Park is a hub to bring the community together for skating, playing sports, and outdoor recreation.

I visited on Sunday because the park was used as the staging area for the Manatee Festival. For a $8 cash only entrance fee the festival had bounce houses, small rides, vendors, exhibitors, food booths, and a dog show. Valentine Park provided parking so you could board the bus that took you to nearby Blue Springs to see the manatees. From what I saw this was a nice park that locals would enjoy.

Not sure if she's the current runner of the park or if she's just a Karen, but I did nothing wrong and I was told I needed a level 2 background check? For visiting a public park while it's empty? Mind you I work for the nearby elementary school and was still in uniform when I was told to leave. I usually come in, get my steps in while playing my game and get out when the parents start coming for softball practice. It's a nice place to take a walk after work, its quiet, clean, guess that's somehow criminal now despite being a Volusia county employee WHO DOES HAVE A LEVEL 2 BACKGROUND CHECK BECAUSE I AM A VOLUSIA COUNTY EMPLOYEE. The fields are nestled pretty closely around the restrooms and concession stand so you don't have to walk a mile if you need to grab a snack! There is one softball field on the opposite side of the baseball fields. We also noticed that right when you pull into the park, there is shuffleboard on site as well! The only downfall I'd say is the parking situation. Parking is located on the dirt right when you enter the park and all around the fields...so it really is "park at your own risk"! My son hit a couple foul balls and they went directly into the parking lot! If you get a chance to visit the little playground, or come see a ball game here, I think you will really enjoy yourself as it really gives off an authentic "hometown ballpark feel".

It was changed in honor of Dwight Otis Hawkins, a war veteran and the person who was primarily responsible for the development of this almost ten acre park. The park is well used and looks a bit worn but still is a nice place for numerous activities. Large fields that can be used for baseball, soccer or whatever take up most of the space but other equipment is available. The typical Floridian playground is of course present but a cool little rock climbing wall and rope thing to climb on adds a bit of variation. The park also has a pavilion, benches, picnic area and clean bathrooms. A pleasant park to run, climb, play ball or just relax and have a picnic.

Ages are not enforced, which I believe is part of why the park gets trashed so quickly. But the worst part is the staff that watch the children at the Rec Center. They are horrible, all sit on the their phones under the pavilion and don't even watch the children that are supposed to be under their care. Watched one child beat another with his shoe and the child went to go cry to the staff and they looked clueless of what happened. Bet they didn't even tell the parents. Not only that but the kids were just a bully to my child. He's a toddler and I had to step in multiple times for him. The staff should watch the children that are under their care!!! Don't bring your kids here when the rec center kids are out playing.. they are not supervised at all.

There is plenty of shade bad places to sit and watch the kids play. There are a few slides but only one large swing. Overall the park is very clean and well maintained. The park is very close to the airport it is also a good sight to see planes land and take off. The surrounding area is a huge complex with baseball fields and tours the front is the playground, there is no splash pad to my knowledge.

Gemini Springs Park is located in DeBary, Florida, 25 miles north of Orlando…read more Since you can no longer swim here due to high concentrations of bacteria in the waters, visitor attendance can be quite low. And since there's alternative parks situated throughout Central Florida that are swimmable, not many people will make the effort to experience Gemini Springs. In fact, I'd categorize this place as a local town park more than anything. It's free to visit and hours are sunrise to sunset. There were no names or signs for the hiking trails, so at times it felt like I was wandering aimlessly. But, the trees decorated with Spanish Moss exuded southern charm and most corners I turned felt like strolling along a nature trail. There's a dual sided passageway that acts as the centerpiece to the park and is also a dam spillway which (I believe) separates the DeBary Creek waters and the Gemini Springs area. I did spot a gator which almost caught a fish right in front of my eyes. I also noticed a soft shell turtle who appeared to be laying her eggs in the sand and some birds doing fishing of their own. Gemini Springs has picnic pavilions, a playground, a dog park, a fishing pier, plenty of grass to play around, and even camping is permitted here. Lastly, I'd like to highlight a section of the park that turns colorfully vibrant when the sun is shining... - Follow the concrete walkway (which you can't miss). - Then...you'll approach a tucked away corner of the springs. This area can be a rewarding moment for admiring the great outdoors. If you just pause and absorb the surroundings, nature's beauty shines through. It's a refreshing reminder that just because a park isn't as accessible as it once was, doesn't mean it should go unnoticed. I believe Gemini Springs Park can be a worthwhile half day visit.
