It was changed in honor of Dwight Otis Hawkins, a war veteran and the person who was primarily responsible for the development of this almost ten acre park. The park is well used and looks a bit worn but still is a nice place for numerous activities. Large fields that can be used for baseball, soccer or whatever take up most of the space but other equipment is available. The typical Floridian playground is of course present but a cool little rock climbing wall and rope thing to climb on adds a bit of variation. The park also has a pavilion, benches, picnic area and clean bathrooms. A pleasant park to run, climb, play ball or just relax and have a picnic.

I visited on Sunday because the park was used as the staging area for the Manatee Festival. For a $8 cash only entrance fee the festival had bounce houses, small rides, vendors, exhibitors, food booths, and a dog show. Valentine Park provided parking so you could board the bus that took you to nearby Blue Springs to see the manatees. From what I saw this was a nice park that locals would enjoy.

No one was there so she was able to run both. I then took her over to the playground area because she likes to slide down the slide. So she ran around there and then two kids showed up and we played for about 30 minutes. Nice Park It has the dog park, basketball and a kids playground. Today I went it was very clean and well kept. Plenty of parking. Bathrooms were clean.

They have a kids playground and even a small lake on the property, though swimming is prohibited. There is adequate parking and they have rest rooms on the property. They also have a couple of pavilions to hang out either after you play a sports or if you just want to chill for a bit. This park offers a lot of tranquillity and I enjoyed my time here. The park is decently maintains and while I was here on a Monday afternoon, there were quite a few people here with me. The park is a bit off of the beaten path, so you will have to go down a few back roads to get here. Perhaps that is part of its charm up here. It is definitely a place for the neighborhood. It would be worth your time to come check here out, enjoy a minute or two. Be advised that I did not see any walking path, but there were people with dogs walking across the sport fields. While it is a lively park and can get busy from time to time, especially on the days the run/walk clubs are there, it is usually a nice park to visit solo and enjoy the peace of the surroundings offered. There is more than enough open green space and a good amount of seating throughout the park. The park also maintains various courts/area for various sporting events like baseball, volleyball, soccer, and various other outdoor activities. As far as proximity to other areas, this park is also located a short distance from the shopping and food eateries in Baldwin Park. So, after enjoying a great workout or just strolling through the park, you can pop over to Baldwin Park for some food and beverages. The only challenge, at times, is parking. Parking in this area (in general) is just tricky; however, there is street parking throughout the neighborhood near the park as well as a designated parking lot for the park itself. However, you can also park throughout the Baldwin Park area and just walk to the park from there. Before I close this out, I've gone to numerous events in this park as well, so it is great for hosting various community events (of course, with the proper permits, etc.). All in all, Blue Jacket Park is really just a great park.

It's nestled in a little historic neighborhood just south of downtown, and we really enjoyed it. I appreciate that they have a dedicated smaller playground for younger kids ages 2-5 as well as one for older kids ages 5-12. The gated playground area was very toddler friendly and not too crowded on a Sunday afternoon. My son loves the swings and the slides. The park was clean and well-kept with plenty of shade from the oak trees. Parking was easy and free along the street. This park also has restrooms, picnic tables, tennis courts, and a baseball field. Adding this one into our regular park rotation!

We visited Delaney Park recently with our grandchildren. They had a great time. The playground is enormous and kept the children busy and active for a long time. The baseball fields, tennis courts, playground, fountain, and rest rooms all appeared to be well maintained. Lots of trees for shade as well as some picnic tables are scattered around the park.

So cheesy that it was a melt but all good fun with the giving out of prizes every half inning and some fun nonsense with Shelldon. No seat is a bad seat, well maybe with the exception of baking out in the sun on the 3B side bleachers or if you're lucky enough to get stuck behind one of the posts that supports the roof, and since attendance is always seemingly miserable you can score great seats at the last minute. The food selections are basic (some minor league parks really have expanded and bougified their offerings) but here it's still your basic dogs, burgers, pretzels, chicken fingers, funnel cake fries that make up the back bone of the menu. The good thing is that prices across the board are very reasonable and the surroundings are small/informal enough that the friendliness of the staff really shines through. The Tortugas won and we saw some good pitching from Daytona along with two home runs. Sure there were also a few mental lapses from St. Lucie that equaled two errors but it was still a solid game. Good pricing, super easy to do everything from park, get tickets, find your seat, etc. All in all a great time. Definitely a must do!

Well, at least it's by the water and I guess where they had land! Because it's Sphon Ranch-designed, we're talking about a generous, $800,000 outdoor skateboarding facility here and what's more, unlike the Sphon Ranch park in Gainesville, this one has night lighting and thus is open to around ten at night. The variety and quality of skate terrain is impressive, there's a decent-sized bowl, handrails, stairs--good stuff all around. The local kids are pretty impressive too, really--you'll meet some skaters here who really rip.
