Let me start off by saying that when you have cancer it is never easy, but everyone here really tried to do their best to treat us with respect, care and professionalism. There is not much these people can do to change your circumstances but they do try to make their part as painless as possible. Dr. Mekhail's administrative assistant, Teri, is incredible. She keeps a thousand balls up in the air at once and never drops one of them. She comes to the phone when you call, she sets up all of your appointments for their office as well as for scans and blood work or any other testing done outside of their office. She has incredible follow through and she knows who you are when you call or come in. Thank You Teri. Dr. Mekhail's nurse and now part of the protocol research team is Tammy. During the first few appointments Tammy showed such kindness, patience, grace and offered us so much comfort that we will be eternally grateful. She was also full of information and little tips of how to deal with what was going to be happening. Thank You Tammy. In the chemo room a special thank you to Robert and Mel and there was one other woman, a black woman who I apologize - I don't know her name, who treated my friend with such tenderness and warmth AND expertise. You all made the rigors of chemo palatable. Thank you. There are times you will wait. They are incredibly busy. My friend grew impatient at the wait at times, understandably so, she was usually in pain, exhausted, nauseous and anxious. For me, sitting in the chair next to her, I understood the waits. So, There but for the grace of God go I, if I were diagnosed with cancer tomorrow would I go to the Cancer Institute of Florida? Yes, I would. Thank you all for your care during a difficult time.

A tribute to my husband's medical team. To the leadership and staff of Ocala Cancer Affiliates, I…read moream writing to express my deepest gratitude and appreciation for the outstanding care that my husband has received over the past three years. Our family has been blessed with an extraordinary medical team, whose compassion, dedication, and professionalism have meant so much to us. Every day, your physicians, nurses, pharmacists, schedulers, and support staff work tirelessly to care for patients and save lives. They deserve to be treated with the same kindness and respect that they show others. There is never a reason to yell at the staff, slam doors, or use foul language. The first people we see are Susie and Cassandra at the front desk. They are warm, kind, and always make us feel welcome. I'd also like to recognize Ms. Mary, Dr. Vasudevan's nurse. She is compassionate, dependable, and always returns my calls as soon as she can. She's always willing to take the time to make sure our questions are answered. A very special thank you goes to Dr. Vasudevan. She is, without question, one of the finest physicians I have ever known. She is knowledgeable, caring, and completely devoted. She never makes us feel rushed, and if she doesn't have an answer right away, she finds it. Her dedication gives our family confidence and hope. On treatment days, we visit the infusion center. Every nurse and staff member there, both women and men, is exceptional. They care for every patient with professionalism, kindness, and genuine compassion, and they consistently go above and beyond. The pharmacy staff also deserves recognition. Danielle and Arnos have been wonderful to us. Whenever I need help or have questions about medications, they are always patient and ready to help. Finally, I'd like to recognize Tiffany, our scheduler. She goes above and beyond to coordinate appointments and make sure everything runs smoothly. Her dedication and willingness to help never go unnoticed. In my opinion, Ocala Cancer Affiliates is the premier cancer treatment center in Marion County. Every member of this team deserves to be recognized for the outstanding work they do each day. From the front office to the nurses, physicians, infusion staff, pharmacy, scheduling, and everyone working behind the scenes, each of you plays an important role in caring for patients and their families. After three years of witnessing your dedication, compassion, and professionalism, I can honestly say you have earned my deepest respect and heartfelt gratitude. Thank you to each and every one of you for the compassion, dedication, hope, and exceptional care you provide every single day. You truly make a difference in the lives of your patients and their families, and your kindness will never be forgotten.

The care here is unfortunately not that good - if you go to Cleveland clinic or MD Anderson you see…read morethe same Dr every time not a NP. NP's and nurses just do follow up or assist the MD's. Most people don't know you can become a NP with very little patient care than just clinicals- no active nursing skills required other than basics and a RN license to get a masters degree in healthcare and then take a course in cancer care for a certification. On my last visit, there was a NP named Kim, she was so unprofessional, she came in my room very cocky and bold- and asked how she could be of help to me today, I almost walked out then- I was there for MRI results- - when I told her that - she said- oh you had a mastectomy- she clearly didn't read my chart and had ridiculous solutions to the burning pain in my breasts- I had stage 3B breast cancer at 40 and I'm BRCA+ and HER2 positive - she cannot be taken seriously. I really liked Dr Aceveto on my 1st visit- he told me he would see me on my MRI results visit and go over genetics for further genetic testing. This did not happen. Also regular labs were ordered unnecessarily as they had been done already less than 2 months prior to my follow up. That means they just want to bill my insurance for more money. I have been very blessed to know what a great comprehensive cancer center is and this is not it. The majority of my treatment was done at the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio. The care there is top notch- no waiting over 15 mins for appts , same continuity of care, and ALL the staff is amazing! They even call you by your first name to say hello just walking thru the front door. They have valet parking which is a big plus. Health care has really changed after Covid - it was tough then but now it's even harder to get someone to listen to you spend time and explain things- you have to advocate really hard, It's all a numbers game- the more pts seen the more money made as insurance dictates care now. I however would like to thank Nicole the scheduling or referral coordinator (I don't know her title) as she was the nicest and most caring person I felt works there. She did everything she could to get me an appt knowing I was having problems - I was also starting as a new pt as we had move to Florida from another state. When I was diagnosed with cancer thank god I got a second opinion and believed I was worth driving 3 hrs every week back and forth from Buffalo to Cleveland for over 2 years to get the best care. Don't you believe you're worth it!
