My husband and I both highly recommend this practice. We are relatively new patients and have been so grateful to have found Dr. Dewitt. My husband is very sensitive to procedure pain. It is the first time during a 2 1/2 hour procedure that he has felt no pain for a procedure. Not only for the procedure, but the anaesthesia injection also elicited no pain. And Dr. Dewitt is also very thorough in his evaluation and recommendations. 15 year patient Dr. Dewitt and his staff are very skilled as dentists and know how to run a business. I've never waited more than 5 minutes to be sat and they get to work immediately. I get a very thorough cleaning and examination in an hour before work. Dr. Dewitt is also concerned with oral health beyond dentistry. He works closely with my son's orthodontist and keeps her apprised of any issues. I appreciate his care and diligence as a patient and a father. Dr. DeWitt is amazingly knowledgeable and patient! He has helped me through the process of getting a root canal from anther dentist. Before that, he fixed my bite on a new crown I got from a horrible dentist to see whether it was my bite causing pain or pulpitis of the nerve for which I needed the root canal. He is ever so meticulous in his work and explains everything so clearly. I would recommend him to anybody! I have been Dr. DeWitt's patient for 33 years. He and his staff are professional, knowledgeable, and friendly. But what I appreciate most about Dr. DeWitt is his demeanor. He has a peaceful way about him that puts you at ease. That is so helpful for those of us who have had bad dental experiences in the past. I had an accident one weekend morning that took out several teeth in front. Dr. DeWitt opened up the office that Saturday morning and, with one of his assistants, was able to fix my teeth. Dr. DeWitt is an incredible dentist and, more importantly, a caring and sympathetic person. Years ago my husband suffered from a botched up dental procedure, which only became evident on a Sunday. He was unable to reach the dentist, and in desperation I called Dr. DeWitt at home. He met my husband in the office and fixed the problem. As great as this was, it's even more amazing that my husband wasn't even his patient - I was! I'll continue going to Dr. DeWitt forever, at least as long as I can climb the stairs to his office. I have been going to see Dr. Dewitt since the mid 1990's, with the exception of a small break for 7 years when I lived out of the area. The minute I returned to the DC area, I went right back to Dr. Dewitt. They still had my file! He is a fantastic dentist - his staff is always efficient, polite, and great dental hygienists as well. I am "weird" about my teeth - in other words, I am one of those nerds that takes great pride in my Sonicare toothbrush, flossing regularly, etc. I feel like Dr. Dewitt is the same way - very detail oriented, concerned about both your appearance and overall tooth health, etc. He is by far the best dentist I have ever had - bar none. Other than the fact you need to file your own insurance claims to your dental insurer, and that his offices are in Tyson's Corner (I live in DC proper) everything is great about Dr. Dewitt. Dr. DeWitt is the fourth dentist I've gone to since moving to this area and definitely the absolute best. He was recommended to me by a trusted friend who's a long-time DC resident. In her words she, "followed him to the suburbs because he's so good." I don't live near Dr. DeWitt's office but am convinced he's worth the trip. After a series of mishaps at my dentist in DC regarding a crown replacement, I was in excruciating pain for weeks. She ended up referring me to an oral surgeon who didn't help me at all. Next, I went to an endodontist who gave me a root canal through my tooth with the new crown. Thankfully, this procedure alleviated the pain. Afterwards, I was advised to have that crown replaced. Despite the fact that my dental insurance was not valid at Dr. Dewitt's, this is the point when I decided to go to his practice. His motto is "Gentle And Thorough". He is that and much more! First of all, Dr. Dewitt listened to my concerns, then explained my options using x-rays and answered my questions. Dr. Dewittt does not accept insurance. The fees he charges are about the double of customary. If money is no object Dewitt maybe a good fit for you. For conservative dentistry - no cosmetic modern dentistry - it could be a good office to go to. read more

Dr Dewitt is hands down the best dentist I have ever been to. He does exemplary work, is very patient and gentle, and explains things thoroughly. He graduated first in his class and Georgetown, and also loves to scuba dive. His office is very clean and inviting. If you need a cavity filled (which is rare for me, because he takes such good care of me!) he will numb up the area and even provide nitrous oxide if you need it to relax. My daughter now goes to him, and also thinks he is great. Finally, his dental technicians, who do the cleaning, are all excellent and very nice. Just be sure to schedule your cleaning appointment in advance, as they do get booked up. However, if it is an emergency Dr DeWitt is always available. You can't go wrong with this choice. read more

If I was feeling any discomfort I would signal and they would stop and then proceed with the utmost care to my comfort. Moved to NoVA area from Chicago and have been looking for a dentist for over a year now. I have visited over 11 dentists in Metro DC and surrounding areas (Bethesda, Friendship Heights, McLean, Reston, Ashburn, UMD dental school in Baltimore)based on referral, word of mouth and reviews of various sources. My brother is a dentist (but is overseas currently), so I can tell a good one from a scam artist. I have very high standards when it comes to finding a skillful dentist. So far, doctor Dewitt's office ranks among the highest of all I have visited for consultation. 1. Dr. Dewitt is very thorough and pay attention to details. His touches are gentle. You can tell he is very skillful and experienced. Not like other who have years of experiences, but was very clumsy when they stick their tool in your mouth. He charged higher fee for consultation, and refused to use the 7 months old x-ray films I sent in. Therefore, I had to pay for the full mouth x-ray. So the consultation come to about $250. But Dr. Dewitt did gave detail written reports. 2. Both the office staff and dental assistant I encounter are not just courteous but very professional. I especially find the office manager, Arink, extremely organized, knowledgable, and efficient in her work. Before and after my two consultation appointments, I had called the office numerous time for treatment plan, additional appointment, and ask the Arink to pass on the x-ray file. I was in awe on the way she handle each task. She always provide me with the right info in a timely fashion. She is the best I have ever encounter for a long time when it comes to front office staff in any medical/dental office. Simple the BEST! 3. I give this office a 3-star because a) the fee they charge for crowns, filling, etc is the highest of all I have visited; b) the treatment plan are among the most aggressive of all I have visited. read more

This practice has worked with my orthodontist, fit me for night guards, taken me in for emergencies, and have educated me on proper oral hygiene. Both of my parents go here as well as my grandfather. I have been an extremely satisfied customer of Dr. DeWitt for 16 years. He is by far the most superior dentist I have had. He does high quality work and is very thorough. He repaired my two front teeth and added a crown to a molar 16 years ago. Both jobs are still in great condition. I am amazed at the detail both the doctor and my hygienist Melanie know my mouth. They both notice potential problems before they become serious. I was diagnosed with Bruxism and fitted with a mouth guard that has saved my teeth.
