Even though I've no complaints against Dr. PJ, I am writing this unsatisfactory review for the practice due to office managers and staff. After being with the practice for almost 12 years and referring so many new patients to this practice the office staff and management has always treated with lots of racial discrimination, unfairly, and with un-acceptable disrespect. They have always been putting their undocumented rules and policies before a patients health. Today I went in for my daughter's annual checkup in my unstable health conditions. Instead of expressing sympathy and consideration they backlashed me with their policy. They talked to me so rudely in front of my 9 year old. Office manager took employee's side and didn't believe a single word I said. I even told her to talk to my daughter who was my only eyewitness of the incident. This situation could have been avoided if they would have just shown some sympathy towards my health and circumstances. But instead they decided to show misuse and misconduct of their authority and power. I don't recommend this practice now or in future. read more

I have been going here for years and love everything about Robert J Kelly DDS. I look forward to my regular visits with Donna who always does an amazing job. I recently had a long over due gym grafting procedure performed by Dr. Sfondouris and could not be happier with the outcome. He did a great job at explaining the surgery to me ahead of time so I knew what to expect and was very attentive throughout the process. Today I had a small imperfection in one of my front teeth fixed by Dr. Polina and it looks perfect for wedding next month! And I can't end my review without also mentioning Gabrielle who manages the front desk, appointments, and billing questions - she is so friendly and helpful! read more

I have been coming here over 7 years now and I can't say enough good about the office. My daughter had her wisdom teeth out, I broke a tooth and had an abscess and needed it extracted. This is in addition to the cleanings/fillings, etc. and each time Dr. "Lev" explains things very clearly, offers options and never feels like he's rushing. From my first appointment I felt like I was in good hands, trusted him and could see he wasn't trying to do the most expensive option. Instead he explains carefully my options and when i took a less expensive route, he didn't make me feel I was sacrificing my dental health/teeth like others have. The office staff is incredibly nice, warm and welcoming. Everyone that walks by offers such a warm smile, even those that aren't working with me. The office hours and days open really allow for flexibility in scheduling. Like most people, visiting the Dentist is not on the list of things we want to do but for the first time in my life, I don't mind going. After 7 years, it isn't a lucky visit, it's a consistently well run office that offers a high level of care and knowledge. read more

So, I was really excited to find this practice in walking distance from my house, and I liked it at first. But the anesthetic from a small filling Dr. Lev did caused a muscle spasm that lasted more than a week; I couldn't open my jaw enough to put food in or talk well for 24 hours. Maybe that was a fluke. But then he shaved too much molar down (only checked once with the paper to see how my bite was) and now I can't chew things on that side of my mouth because my teeth don't touch anymore. So together these problems feel like a pattern of carelessness. And on top of that, he's a climate change denier. While everyone's entitled to their opinions, his conviction that the planet's climate is actually more stable than usual is so off from what scientists are saying that I feel I can't trust him to trust what the data says about dentistry either. That and the two problems I mentioned mean I don't feel comfortable using this practice. read more

I must have gotten lucky - or perhaps people only post negative reviews? I avoided the dentist for about 12 years. Had had really negative experiences growing up with dentists: generally the stereotypically mean, no chair-side manner, way more pain than necessary. And 4 years ago I went in for a root canal and was way overcharged and poorly treated (emotionally and medically) so I continued to avoid... My husband really pushed me to go, and I was recommended here by a trusted friend. I was up front about my fears and was treated so great by the hygienist (Kelly? Colleen?) and Dr. Lefkowitz (sp?). I had a thorough painless cleaning, an honest talk about next steps and how much it would cost and what we would do based on my insurance. I did not feel upsold by any means. Ive been seeing Dr. Lev for at least 7 years. Dr Patel did two extractions for me when my prior dentist caused significant infections in my teeth. Both these dentist did an amazing job correcting the issue and restoring my teeth. Ive also seen the periodontist and 3 hygienist. Ive visiting all three locations as well. I have always had a pleasant experience. Front desk staff is always helpful and friendly, and I always get the attention and care expected. Im baffled by some of the prior poor experiences and reviews. I moved to VA three years ago and refuse to find another dental office; I make the drive to see them. I had veneers put on my teeth 6 years ago because they led me to believe it was necessary after chipping my tooth when I was younger. it seemed to me like they just wanted to make the money off me. They did a horrible job. From day 1 of having them on I told them that I wasn't happy with the color of the veneers. Their response, "It's the whitest shade we have." If that's the case they wouldn't have been yellow. Secondly, after they were put on 2 months later one broke off while I was eating pizza. It shouldn't have come off so easily. Thirdly, they began staining early on...veneers aren't really supposed to stain. Esp not on someone that is very good about taking care of their teeth. If you value your teeth, or even your sanity STAY AWAY. My friend went here (7/2016) for wisdom teeth extractions and it went horribly to say the least. First off, they didn't administer the anesthesia correctly. He could hear the staff asking each other what time they got off as well as where they wanted to order from for lunch. Then, the dental assistant told him the wrong number of extractions that were made vs what actually happened and was confirmed by the dentist. And finally, not once during the whole ordeal did anyone tell him what he would be going through or expecting. I would think if anyone was having MULTIPLE teeth taken out they would atleast want some sort of explanation as of what to expect. There was none. The dentist, Dr. Patel, seemed genuinely disinterested, horrible patient care. It's also worth nothing that when the front desk was called about this whole ordeal the receptionist tried to downplay it, and say the conversations he heard probably didn't happen but let's face it, after poking him FOUR TIMES it seems like what I can only describe as a piss poor anesthesia attempt wasn't really all that successful. There's more but it's not even worth writing. Stay away far far away, unless you need something basic like a cleaning. But who knows they might screw that up too. read more

Both me and my wife had really bad experiences at the Quince Orchard Location. Seems like they can't even do an extraction right. The owner , Dr Kelly is rude indeed and his big thing is to sell implants , even if your tooth is restore-able. I found a wonderful Dentist on Russel Ave. in Gaithersburg where all the work they have performed so far has been top quality. If you need a dentist : do your homework, there are plenty of good dentists around, just stay away from this one. read more

The team of Dr Kelly DDS & Associates are one of a kind. I found out a week before I had to relocate to another state that I needed two root canals. Although I did not think it was realistic that a week's worth of time was enough for receiving two root canals and crowns. Dr Tomashevsky and his team made it happen! They had actually rush ordered the crowns, which normally takes two weeks or sometimes longer. Robert Kelly & Associates also made payment arrangements with me. This was absolutely convenient and appreciated taken all the other expenses that one goes through with moving to another state. The staff was knowledgeable and professional and knew me by my first name not by a chart. I highly recommend Robert Kelly DDS & Associates for all of your dental needs. My interactions with Dr. Lev and the office have been absolutely positive. The team truly cares about the patient experience and want to see their patients leave satisfied. I am writing about the receptionists at 220 Main St # 100, Gaithersburg, MD 20878. My appointment was at 1:30 PM and I reached at 1:15 PM as normally recommended by doctor's office. However, the front door was closed and a note was attached that the office was on lunch break and will open at 1:30 PM. It was a particularly cooler and windy day. I noticed the receptionists through glass windows and knocked at the door so that I could wait in the reception area, but was denied access and told that it would open at 1:30 PM. Therefore, I have to outside until the office was open. I would have expected a more courteous service from a doctor's office. I do not plan on visiting that site again. read more

My wife went here since it was close to her work. She needed some extensive dental work performed and nothing went well at this dentist. She did find the staff and Dr. Weedon to be friendly, but that was about the only nice thing I can say about this place. Initally, she needed 5 teeth extracted (4 wisdom and 1 infected). Though she was supposed to be under sedation, I could hear her moaning from the waiting room so badly I got up and nearly walked in to see what was going wrong (she doesn't remember anything, however). They accidentally left a mercury filling from her extracted tooth in the bone and it grew around it. Further, they had to re-enter the same tooth 3 times in order to complete a root canal. They could never numb her teeth properly, and after poking her in 10 different places to administer the local anesthetic, they performed most fillings/root canals without her teeth being numb (whereas her new dentist is able to numb her teeth in one shot). She was constantly passed around from dentist to dentist to specialist to surgeon when nobody seemed to know why she was still experiencing pain in a tooth, without anyone giving her any real advice except: "Come back in 2 weeks and talk to this person". She even met with Robert Kelly himself, who was downright rude and disrespectful to her. Ultimately, I forced her to collect her files and move on to a dentist our friend recommended, and has been extremely happy since (though admittedly she still has a bit of a phobia with dentists). Bottom-line: I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS DENTIST!!! read more

Mike P's experience from 2009 mirrors almost precisely ours from the same period: sloppy work, use of inappropriate anesthesia despite it being recorded clearly on the chart, neighboring teeth ground down to match a mis-sized crown or cracked leading to other work (by others), rotating staff so the same doctors/technicians were rarely seen in a row, and an attitude of talking down to the patient. Most significantly, several dentists have subsequently told us that my wife's implant and crown are barely standard, led to the need for other work, and will have to be redone sooner rather than later. Unfortunately, none of them will go "on the record" with our insurance and the insurance will not cover a re-do until 7 years have passed. Corry O's post from July 2011 suggests not much has changed. I was a little surprised by the reviews here. A few moths ago I had a filling break off and there was a new cavity forming. I'm extremely sensitive to pain and they were able to successfully numb me, which is very difficult, and fix my problem very quickly. My quality of life drastically improved. They are open on Saturdays which is great! Also, they figured out I had acid reflux which was why my teeth have been having some issues lately. Some special toothpaste/mouth wash later I'm a new boy. This dentist used to be good when Dr Robert Kelly and Dr Weedon were working on my teeth and the family's teeth back in the late 90s and early 2000. I usually go to the Kensington office. Donna and Faye are still there who I can vouch for doing great work and have patience when in comes to cleaning. They do the old school style in cleaning with the pick. The office manager and front desk staff were great back in those days. Since new ownership took place things started to degrade in everything with new staff. Most of the hygienist are doing fast @$$ cleaning jobs by using the drill/grinder to clean teeth. This could be one of those turn tables as fast as you can to get more customers in so can generate more $$$ so to speak like in the restaurant business lingo, in this case turn the dentist chair around faster to get more $$$ per day. Dr Kao is great with kids who takes time to explain to parents and kids the procedure. I heard from the staff that it's not good for business because she (Dr Kao) takes too long to complete the procedure per patients. None of my calls returned and been ridiculed. I asked for a small credit but was refused by Lev. I guest a $25 credit is more valuable than losing 5 members of my family and not returning back. I highly DO NOT recommend this dentist. Beware when it comes to billing. This practice over charge every time. Im glad my insurance has a contract with them and reduces their charges. If your insurance don't or you are paying out of pocket don't come back. RUN!!! read more

Absolutely the Best. I had three implants done and they were all done perfectly. I could not have asked for a better doctor to place the implants then Dr, Barry Marahaj. He did exactly what he said he would do and was very professional in answering all my questions and concerns. Dr. Lev Tomashevsky place the crowns in perfectly as is absolutely the best. I am frightened of going to the dentist. I needed two fillings and to have a tooth extracted. The entire office was warm and pleasant. Dr. Lev was wonderful doing my fillings. I didn't feel a thing and him and his assistant made me feel as if I were sitting in my living room. I went a week later to have my tooth extracted. Dr. Maharaj and Walter were AMAZING! They made me feel comfortable and at ease. I don't want to have to go back to the dentist unless I am getting my teeth cleaned. However, if I do, I will not be frightened. I cannot understand the negative reviews. I am pretty dental phobic and went to the same dentist for years, afraid to try someone new, but he didn't take our insurance. I found this practice and my husband and I have both been using them for six or more years. The staff is very friendly and courteous, appts are always on time, Dr Lev is great about explaining to me what he is doing and why, and checking in often while doing the procedure to make sure I am okay. My husband and I have both had old filings replaced, and I had a crown redone that previously had given me no end of problems, but once Dr Lev fixed it, it has been great! When I had a hygienist that I didn't care for, they put a note in my chart to make sure I don't inadvertently end up with her again. I use the Kentlands Main street office, so I can't speak for the other locations, but the billing staff is also courteous in getting the receipts I need for our FSA. I find their prices are also reasonable. read more

All our family uses services of Dr. Lev Tomashevsky for at least 10 years, and we also were lucky to be referred to Dr. Barry Maharaj, who is practicing as dental surgeon at the same office (I can only hope I have not butchered their names ;)) We have never dealt with other resident doctors, so cannot attest to their expertise, but our experience here was entirely positive so far. Even our youngest kid, who was traumatized by previous dentist (no point to discuss our bad experience with several earlier doctors), was very impressed from the very first visit - and stays happy 10 years since. I am not trying to say that nothing ever required a second trip or even second surgery (as was the case with one of my dental implants) - but in all these cases we received appropriate (and free of charge) treatment and attention. Also, we have found their approach very reasonable and conservative, e.g. always suggesting us to wait until filling, crown or implant becomes really necessary. We always recommend this place to our friends - and never found ourselves in awkward position because of that! Thank you, Dr. Lev. read more
