This is the first time I've ever had a bad experience at a dentist office. I recently moved into…read morethe area and needed a new dentist. I thought I had booked a cleaning, but after I arrived I was told the appointment would just be an examination. The x-rays were done on film that needed to be developed. The hygienist began to explain my gums were in bad condition and I had deep pockets that would need scaling and root planning, but she wasn't sure if it was deep enough of a pocket for insurance to pay for it. I declined, saying if it didn't make it to the level where insurance thought it needed to be covered, I didn't want it. She then disappeared to get the dentist and came back to say she asked the front desk to ask my insurance about it anyway. Which I was immediately uncomfortable about. Then, the dentist came in and told me I needed to get the SRP because gum disease never goes away, basically not giving me an option, and there was no further conversation about a regular cleaning. I have never had a cavity before. Regular dentist visits every six months, and never a concern about gum disease. They told my insurance I needed scaling and cleaning on all four quadrants of teeth. It took me months to finally go to another dentist after that experience for a second opinion. My gum pockets were almost all 3 with two 4s. 3mm gum pockets are normal. The 4mm gum pockets did not need scaling and rooting. If anything, the second dentist said cleanings every 4 months instead of six. Would not recommend.

I've never had issues in the past with lab made crowns. This is the first time I've ever had a Cerec crown, and I have had pain for over two months. Also, I can FEEL this Cerec crown in my mouth constantly - it is as if there is something stuck against my cheek or on the tooth. It is causing me to bite the inside of my check. Plus, it is painful to try to chew even soft foods on it, the tooth/root hurts if I touch it with anything (tongue, finger, etc). Going through this pain, I did some online research on Cerec crowns, and there are a lot of issues with these type of crowns (most of which has to do with the skills of the dentist). The Cerec crown being too "bulky" so that feels like something stuck to your tooth or cheek is a complaint that people have had, which has to do with dentist not being skilled enough to fit it correctly. If you research Cerec crowns, you have to also be careful not to just read "advertisements" disguised as articles written by dental practices that purchased an expensive Cerec machine and want to recoup their investment! Since getting the new crown, I went back to Dr. Anolik's office three times because of the pain. The third time, Dr. Steven Anolik referred me to an endodontist, Dr. Jason Fields - who apparently is Anolik's go-to endodontist for referrals. He said the whole reason for the pain is that I am grinding my teeth. This didn't make sense to me - I might grind a little or clench a little, but I had gotten another crown on the same side years ago and never had this kind of pain. So, I switched to a different dental practice. My new dentist said that don't have a Cerec machine because of the problems with Cerec crowns. She tried doing a bite adjustment (grinding the crown down a little because it was hitting the top teeth to hard). She also referred me to an endodontist, and said to go if I am still having pain in a couple of weeks. The pain continued, so I saw the new endodontist, who recommended a root canal. He did the root canal, and when he got in there, he said the nerves were very inflammed (from all trauma of the crown) and some of the nerve was dead, and it was infected. That was the reason I was having this pain. Now the infection is getting treated, then he will finish the root canal. Then I'll go back to the new dentist and see about replacing or fixing the ill-fitting crown. I am writing this long review because I totally regret having walked into this dental practice in the first place. If Dr. Steven Anolik had told me BEFORE recommending the crown that they are using an inhouse Cerec machine to make it, instead of sending it out to a lab, I would have had a chance to research it before the appointment. But I did not know until I was in the chair for the appointment to get the crown. Would I have researched it and decided against it? I don't know for certain. But I believe patients should have the choice and have all the facts. Thus, I am writing this review for anyone who happens to see it, who happens to go to this practice and they tell you that you need a crown. At least you would have the choice to do some research on your own and decide if you want to risk having the dentist make it inhouse. Another thing I learned through this experience. The endodontist looked at all the x-rays and intraoral photos of that one tooth. It had a crack on both sides, which is why a crown was necessary. But he said that he would have done the root canal first, and then do the crown. There was a big risk of the trauma to the nerves, the inflammation, and a deeper crack that could not be detected. So doing the root canal first would have saved me all of this pain and multiple appointments and multiple painful shots in the mouth.

I called the office and was told I would have to fill out the same forms that we have filled out before they would even schedule an emergency appointment. This is a set of 4 documents that we had previously filled out with no changes. I asked the staff to have Dr Woodward call me. He did not. I sent a written complaint to Dr Woodward. He responded 2 weeks later defending his duplicate documents before appointment policy, accused me of being rude and said he refused to speak with me anymore as it was "his legal right". My mother in law speaks no English, I am the primary on the insurance and 100% support her. She is my dependant. We called another oral surgeon who was more concerned about my mother in laws health than paperwork and he got us right in called our dentist and had us fill out the paperwork at the appointment. We had used Dr Woodward exclusively for oral surgery so I guess we were used to poor treatment. It was refreshing to see a provider that cares. My family lives under constant despair due to the war and relatives fighting and dying. It was nice that the new oral surgeon showed compassion instead of insulting us and adding stress

Dr. Semaie is exceptional--he's thorough, professional, and takes the time to explain every step of the process. The hygienist, Semin, was so kind and accommodating, especially with kids. She cleaned my teeth with great care--no pain at all--and they felt incredibly smooth afterward. She was also wonderful with my daughter, making her feel comfortable and even playful so she wasn't nervous. Katy was great at scheduling our family. The receptionist did not even greet me. She told me to "hold on one second" and then told the doctor that I had my baby with me, which I understood could be an issue. I said that was okay and that I would come back when I had childcare. However, she insisted that I could still do a consultation. It felt like the only reason for this was so they could still collect a payment from me. I explained that the doctor already had my X-rays and records, and that I could simply reschedule, but the receptionist kept insisting. I spoke with the Doctor, and he barely gave me any information before telling me to wait in another room for an examination. At that point, I started to feel uncomfortable, so I walked out and told them to call me to reschedule. Then the patient coordinator told me I owed $56.78. I said that was fine, but I needed to go to the bank to get the money. Her attitude immediately became rude and nasty toward me. I went to the bank, got the money, and came back to pay without any issue. One major red flag was that no one could clearly explain the total cost of procedures. At every other dentist office I have been to, I have always been given straightforward pricing information. Here, they could never give me a clear answer about costs or fees. Overall, this place felt more focused on getting money than providing quality patient care.
