I've been a patient of Dr. Pick's for 10 years now, and I've had nothing but outstanding experiences with him and recommend him and his practice whole-heartedly. To give you an idea of how sold I am on his practice, I live in the city and had been seeing him at an office downtown. When he stopped practicing downtown in favor of his Naperville office, I didn't think twice about taking on the roughly one-hour drive to continue seeing him. His practice is that good! I first saw him in 2004 when my general dentist recommended I see him about my gum recession. I had known a few people who had gum grafting at that point, and none of them had good stories to tell about their experiences. There was absolutely nothing about the procedure that sounded remotely appealing, and I walked into Dr. Pick's office with enormous apprehension. But he explained the method he employs, told me the sheer number of these procedures he'd performed up to that point, and told me of the success rate he'd had through a comprehensive study he and a colleague had published, and I was comfortable that he was the right guy for the job. His work was nothing short of excellent, and has held up beautifully for 10 years since. You can't even tell I've had grafts. I had about 10 grafts done over two appointments - 6 and 4 - so it was pretty extensive oral surgery. The procedures themselves were painless, with extremely manageable discomfort after the novocaine wore off, and everything went as described and promised. Make no mistake, it's oral surgery, so it's not my first choice of leisure-time activities, but Dr. Pick and his team really made it as pleasant an experience as I could have imagined. When I had to have a single graft (outside the original graft area) in 2010, it was an absolute breeze by comparison. Easy as could be! But most importantly, Dr. Pick's bedside manner - or, in this case, chair-side manner - is incomparable. He's one of the nicest people you'll meet, very entertaining, and does a great job of distracting you from what he's doing. In fact, that night after the procedure, he actually called me at home to check in on me, which was truly above and beyond. No doctor I can remember had ever given me a follow-up call like that. I was stunned almost speechless, but that told me that this was a doctor who really cared about his work and his patients. You can't go wrong with Dr. Pick, professionally, technically, or personally! But it doesn't stop there. The team around him is absolutely top-notch! The hygenists and surgical assistants working with him have been outstanding, and everyone I've had contact with in his office starting from the moment I walk in the door is extremely professional, talented, and most of all, incredibly friendly, happy, and caring. I never thought I'd say I enjoy going for dental appointments, but I do look forward to seeing Dr. Pick and his staff - it's like going to see old friends! read more

About the best it gets for a periodontist. He is the expert on implants and laser perio work. Does excellent flap work as well. He is the ADA spokesperson for implants and laser work in dentistry. If you need implants, especially difficult cases, he is the one to see. A little on the expensive side but worth every penny. All post op care is included in the price so you aren't getting nickled and dimed on every visit. His assistants are also excellent. His office manager and payment policies however need improvement. Although I have just begun my treatments with Dr. Pick and his team, let me tell you I could NOT be MORE IMPRESSED with the way I have been treated: with the UTMOST in courtesy, professionalism, care and kindness. Dr. Pick did some oral surgery on me, and I couldn't believe how quickly he worked; it did not seem like I spent any great length of time by the time he was saying it was "85 percent done", "87 percent done", etc.! He made sure everything was done right the first time, that I experienced NO pain, and made sure I had medication for pain after I was home. What REALLY impressed me was that he, himself, called me that evening to see how I was doing. That was a FIRST in my experience! What a wonderful experience! I know it is a bit weird to say that for a dentist appt., but I must say it was such a pleasant surprise. My son (who happens to have Downs Syndrome) required a graft. I can't tell you how hard it is to find a good doctor that has a good bedside manner for people with special needs. My son was nervous, I was nervous, but that soon went away. Dr. Pick was the best choice. There were so many little things that helped me and my son to feel comfortable. From the staff who went out of their way to help us feel comfortable to the Dr. who took time to speak to and learn a little bit about my son.
