I have recently been looking around for any neurologists who may have come into town recently. In doing so I re-read the reviews on Dr. Robert Price. After my excelIent neuro left town, I saw him once a few years ago and since then, that visit has really bothered me. Sorry to say the negative comments about him are exactly correct. I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 1996. Since then I have seen 8 neurologists over the years including Dr. Louis Rosner, the head of the MS program at UCLA and, at that time, a world-renown expert in MS. I also later saw his successor in the UCLA MS program. I had gone to UCLA for a second opinion to be sure of the diagnosis. I have had many MRI's over the years. Those 8 doctors, upon examination and review of the MRI's, all concluded that I have MS. One can overlook Dr. Price's repugnant demeanor, head in the computer and uncommunicative bordering on being obnoxious. But he had the gall to suggest that I might not have MS. I asked him "You are concluding that with no review of medical records?" He answered affirmatively. This individual is a disgrace to the medical profession. If you want a neurologist with the following qualities, here you go: Spends 90% of his appointment time telling his voice dictated software to "wake up" and "go to sleep" as he reviews previous history and current labs standing on his treadmill and not looking at you. If it were me I would do my homework prior to appt. and spend 90% of my time engaging my patient. Declines to address his specialty of possible MS markers. Panics when presented with other medical issues like RLS and adamantly defers to primary care. Runs batteries of blood labs with some indicating neuropathy markers and totally misses the significance which were later identified by my rheumatologist. With last visit, came to absolutely no conclusions ot suggestions at end of appointment leaving me totally up in the air. When confronted with this lack of finalized care I was told "I guess we can try something else" Was then told "I am running 30 minutes late so we are done". There you go, he is all yours. read more

I found Dr. Price to be unsympathetic and unrelating at our consultation. After introducing himself, he walked over to a walking machine set up with a recording device, put on his headphones, and proceeded to talk into it using the form I filled out. I could not tell if he was talking to me or not. He made snap judgments without even discussing it, such as an anti-anxiety drug I have been on for over 25 years for another condition. He insisted I have insomnia and that I was pre-diabetic (counter to what my internist had told me). He had my labs results in front of him. His physical checking of my feet (neuropathy) was perfunctory. He then said to made an appt, for testing, which was two months away, and then a 3rd appt. for the results, which was another two months! Not very helpful or reassuring for a patient in pain. He did explain what the tests would entail. He said good-bye and left the room. Needless to say, I did not return, and have found a more compassionate neurologist. read more

My husband was a patient of his. He couldn't figure out what was wrong with him and made me cry by telling me that he didn't want my husband as a patient and no one else would either. We went to another neurologist who quickly solved the problem that he said was common. Dr. Price is cruel and shouldn't be practicing. read more

Husband had an appt booked for three months. Two days before appt Dr. Price office calls and told husband, sorry we no longer accept your insurance. You will have to pay cash for the consultation. They knew for three months that they dropped our insurance and kept the appt. After reading reviews I am glad that this happened. read more

Wow I love this Doctor. He gave it very clear description of what was going on. His diagnosis was spot on, and his recommendations did the trick. He was friendly and accessible and respectful. We couldn't be happier. read more

Let me just start by saying that before I met Dr. Price I knew it would be a difficult appointment. I have had a pain condition called CRPS since 2012. CRPS is pretty multi faceted. Symptoms are very different from patient to patient, and these symptoms change over the years. Over the last two years or so, I have experienced troubling new symptoms that I had not experienced before, so I was referred to Dr. Price to see if anything new might be going on. Now the fun starts. The very first thing Dr. Price did was say "so you were diagnosed with CRPS, then why are you here?" I told him about my new symptoms and wanted to know if anything else was going on. His response was "so is this a trying to get disability issue? I was baffled by his responses. I told him this wasn't the reason for my visit, as I already have been on disability. He proceeded to perform some sort of examination begrudgingly, and spent most of the time dictating to his computer and reading older diagnoses I have gotten and basically discounted all of them. He looked up the criteria for a CRPS diagnosis. What came up was an antiquated diagnosis guideline called the Budapest method. It gives generic symptoms for doctors to look for, which most people experience when first diagnosed. What Dr. Price fails to realize is that CRPS is different for everyone, and that the syndrome changes over time and as you age. Unfortunately my symptoms come and go. When I am experiencing symptoms it is called a flare. These can last anywhere from a day to weeks. Then the symptoms go away as fast as they came, and I can feel well for weeks or months. Unfortunately Dr. Price is not much of a think outside the box kind of guy. He suffers from severe tunnel vision and has zero compassion or any ounce of bedside manner. His style is to intimidate and belittle. He ended the appointment by saying I did not have CRPS and that there was nothing wrong with me neurologically. All this being dictated into his computer, not talking directly to me. He then recommended some cognitive test for me to take. Saying not that I have dementia, but just so he could get a baseline. Not sure why I am supposed to take this. I never complained of cognitive issues at all. I see many other reviews complaining about similar experiences. Those that find his behavior expectable must be used to being treated awfully. Obviously I do not recommend anyone go to Dr. Price. read more

I posted this originally to his other page about a year ago, which had 10 reviews, all 1-star. That page can no longer be found unless you go through the old review. I don't know how it was hidden, but no way. SO. HERE IS THE ORIGINAL REVIEW. I have been unfortunate enough to be seeing Dr. Price for a little over a year and a half now, and am finally able to drop him and go find another neurologist, a piece advice I would recommend to anyone and everyone. When I first received my referral from my primary, I called and was sent a 15+ page packet on personal and medical information that I had to fill out and mail back. Months later I heard back and finally received an appointment. This appointment was later pushed back due to insurance issues - the first of many. Once they finally got cleared with my insurance, I was able to see him. Yikes. His office staff seems like they would rather be ANYWHERE else, and apparently it shows in their work. They entered my insurance information incorrectly into the computer on my first visit, which was only finally caught three visits, two cancelled appointments and many months later. During my first visit, the only positive experience I had was finally receiving a diagnosis for my chronic migraines. Other than that, I sat there uncomfortable as Dr. Price dictated all of his notes, thoughts and ideas into his recorder/computer. I had trouble figuring out when he was talking to me and when he was talking to the computer. Dr. Price is obviously insanely intelligent, but lacks all social skills and a good bedside manner. NOW. His office staff. After fixing my insurance information on visit three (or so I thought) I went on my merry way and was given another follow-up appointment 6 months later. A day or two before my appointment, they called and left a message that my insurance wasn't valid and that they were cancelling. No offer to reschedule, no explanation of my insurance, nothing. About a week later I received a bill from my appointment that had been 6 months prior. Apparently I "changed insurance" and didn't tell them, so my insurance took back the money originally paid and now I was responsible for it. I finally called and asked for billing. I fought with Dr. Price's billing assistant that I didn't change insurances, and that I had been struggling with this office and insurance since Day 1. She pretended to understand but just kept repeating "well it's your responsibility to tell us when you change insurance." I still have the same insurance card in my wallet as I have since Day 1, but okay, sure. She told me she would work on it and figure it out and get back to me. That was 3 months ago now and I just received the bill again. I finally just sucked it up and paid it so I can get this awfully run office and terrible doctor out of my life. Note - I was going to give him an extra star for finally giving me a diagnosis, but now I'm just angry and annoyed all over again, so the one star is more than enough. Update 3/8/20: I just had to pay a bill that I JUST received, which was sent directly to a collection agency as the appointment on the bill was from over 2 years ago. So this BS is still going on even though I have switched. I'm still getting retroactive bills because they can't get their deal together. read more

I came to see Dr Price as my hands were shaking very much and not being able to write. He is very professional and gets right to the point. He identified what my problem was and with my medicine I no longer shake and I can now write. The office staff was always very polite. read more

At first I liked him as we talked a lot I about Dr. Sinclair's work. But...I mean I first made an appt in nov. couldn't get in till April. He had no idea about my case so he ran like 21 bloodwork tests on me. That's a lot of blood to take from someone just to throw darts at a board. When I arrived he hadn't looked at my chart or my messages and he said he never does. So I'm waiting while he goes through stuff. To then have him just guess and say there is nothing he can do. Doesn't matter what caused it - I have neuropathy - how can we help? He didn't even know of the new generation of Nitric Oxide and all the other supplements that can help. Maybe physical therapy or something? So 10 months from start to finish for me. I've learned so much about neuropathy on my own now - So I can try to work on myself. But what a waste if time. 10 months people! For nothing! My insurance should get their money back. I was sooo angry at the last appt when he hadn't prepared at all. read more

I had the unfortunate luck of ending up with doctor Price. I had heard some negative things about him but I decided to give him a chance. 5 minutes after I sat down he diagnosed me. I've heard horrible things about his habit of misdiagnosis. Unfortunately, all the reviews about him are right on. There is only one good review, that person has issues obviously. Trying to find another Neurologist in the area. I am disgusted with his attitude and his demeanor. Not taking it personally, just trying to take care of my seizure issue. His answer was over medicate me. About his office help, just as deceptive as he is. After asking about some paperwork for retired, the office lady said she is the one who does that. She told me to let the doctor know what I needed. He than proceeded to tell me he does not do that paper work and was unwilling to look at my job duties to come to a conclusion. I let him know that the lady in the office is that she did that paperwork. When we left the room and went to the front desk he asked that lady about the paperwork and she lied and said she does not do that paperwork, Dr Price was standing behind me and she was looking at him while she answered him. When I went to see Dr Price after I sat down he looked at me and said I was obese and that was my problem! Yes I know that I'm obese but that's not what someone wants to hear the second they sit down. I figured he had made his diagnosis So I left. I never returned. read more

Dr Price is an unethical practitioner. He fires patients whom he has some sort of grudge against or just doesn't like them. He cancels appointments due to his warped views without even letting the patient know about the cancellation. How can you trust a doctor like that? read more

His website has great reviews, but I think those people were semi-conscious. If I could give no stars at all, I would, but even no stars is too generous. 1st appointment he tried to refuse me. Why? I have a service dog who alerts me to seizures and he's right about 95% of the time. After he was repeatedly told he can be fined, he begrudgingly saw me. His bedside manner is just above someone who's dead, which is what I would rather be than have him as my neurologist. My primary refilled a medication for me for migraines but said the neurologist needs to fill the rest. Well, he refused and dead is a real possibility considering the medication is also a beta-blocker and I have already had a heart attack. This is something he would have known had he taken the time to either look over my chart, TALK to me, or get off of his bluetooth long enough to make me feel like he knew I was there. He likes (loves, actually) to interrupt, cut you off, walk out of the room WHILE YOU'RE TALKING TO HIM, and is very good at demeaning. I told him this medication I was on for migraines wasn't working and I joked about botox. Then repeated that it wasn't working and told him about my family history of migraines. I was in the medical profession for 17 years, not office, all hospital and ER so I've interacted with soooooo many doctors and I fully believe this joke of a neurologist should have his medical license revoked. I first met Dr Price when my daughter was in the hospital and he didn't have good bedside manner. When I was referred to him for my headaches and saw that it was the same doctor I almost cancelled the appointment. I decided to take a chance and was so glad I did. He helped me so much and was very caring. I had read reviews that he just types and doesn't listen. I disagree because he told me that he listens while he types and I appreciate that. read more

Dr. Price should retire. It's obvious that he doesn't even like people AT ALL. I genuinely don't understand why he ever got into medical care of any kind. I had an EMG performed by him and went to my follow-up appointment to get the results. I sat in the waiting room for at least 30 minutes after my appointment time. The office manager came out to the waiting room to talk with me about how Dr. Price said he didn't need to see me to go over the results and that I didn't need to see him anymore. I asked for a copy of the results which I don't know how to interpret because I'M NOT A NEUROLOGIST. The section of the report where he was supposed to enter interpretation of the results was BLANK. NOTHING. That's what I got from this so-called "specialist" - NOTHING. He was rude to me, my family, and his own staff. I ended up going to Stanford after this poor treatment. I feel awful for anyone who has ever sought care from this doctor and for his staff that has to deal with his despicable behavior on a daily basis. read more

He seems very knowledgeable about dispensing medication, and the regimen he had me on now is incredibly life changing for the better. I should have left this message years ago. But I have been stewing about his horrible service ever since. I took my mom in to have her checked over and see what could be done about her changing brain and the stroke she had had some time before. This "doctor" is NOT a doctor. He is an analyst and a statistician. He had no feeling for my mother, offered no solutions and left her feeling like crying. Needless to say, we never went back. He told her that she was OBESE and had DEMENTIA to her face. She was in her early 80's at that point, so sensitive and feeling extremely vulnerable. We also had to wait forever. The wait was the not worth it. I recommend that you seek "help" elsewhere because he offers none. NONE. He made no suggestions to improve her mind and certainly NO FEELING. I recommend that you, Dr. Price, treat yourself for Asperger's and leave the healing and doctoring to those who are qualified. read more
