I guess I am cruisin for a bruisin/but NOT realizing that I had dealt with these people before and having been recently referred by my current dr for a recent injury: I showed up at the office. Everyone was rude (again?!). Just a rude culture here (can't believe this is my 2nd time reviewing them/didn't know was same co). Noone says "you're welcome, thank you, goodbye" if you initiate a hello, thank you or goodbye, don't expect to be responded to. Just a snotty/snobby bunch of people who found each other and work together. Even Dr. Dusch saunters out of your appt room without a goodbye, she just exits. Rude, rude and rude. read more

Incompetence and Snowflakes What happened to this place??? I saw a doctor here a few years ago and had a completely pleasant and professional experience. I fractured my scapula a couple of weeks ago, x-rays in the ER and a referral to CCO. I called CCO the next day to schedule an appointment, got voicemail, so I left the details and asked for a call back. Called again each of the next two days, left messages, and waited for a callback. Nothing. By Thursday, I called my primary, asked for a PT referral (which they sent the same day) and went to PT the next day to deal with all the pain and muscle stiffness. PT noticed that the ER referred me to the spine guy at CCO, not the shoulder guy. So on the way home, I stopped by CCO with my ER referral paperwork from Monday , and asked to set an appointment with their shoulder specialist. The nice lady behind the desk, said she understood why I'd want to see the shoulder guy but had to get the spine guy to agree that the shoulder guy was the right specialist to see me, and assured me they'd be back in touch shortly. For a minute, I thought she was saying I could wait there in the lobby while she got that approval. It wasn't until Thursday the next week that I got the call to set an appointment... with the Physician's Assistant... in a week. I told the lady on the phone that I didn't see the point in seeing a PA after 3 weeks with the injury, and that I wanted to see the shoulder physician. Confused, she asked whether I wanted the appointment or not. I clarified that I didn't see the point in seeing a PA 3 weeks after my injury, and that while they'd been "dickin' around with their internal process trying to get me in", I'd already seen my primary, had 2 PT sessions, and one with my Rolfer / Massage therapist. As I was finishing that sentence, she said my language was unacceptable and hung up. To CCO, I'm sorry for saying "dickin' around". For the snowflake on the phone and for the management over there, please expect that injured patients trying to get acute care might be frustrated when it takes you two weeks to do something that should take 10 minutes. This review is specifically for Dr. Dusch who specializes in hands, wrists and elbows. This is not an endorsement for the entire practice. I had been to one doctor and one PA at Central Coast Orthopedics, had an x-ray, an MRI, been to 2 PT sessions and my tennis elbow wasn't any better. I was told that I needed to see a specialist that treated elbows and the closest was in Santa Barbara. I googled and found that Dr. Dusch specializes in hands, wrists and elbows right here in SLO. I was able to get in right away, she took care of the immediate pain that was waking me up at night and sent me to a PT specializing in hands and elbows. The PT treatment was very different from the first place I was referred to. I am confident that I am on the track to healing and can't thank Dr. Dusch enough. read more

I was given several referral options for different doctors for my knee injury and was recommended to CCO as one of the best. On the first visit I was seen by the PA and after 15 minutes of looking over my MRI, she said I had a completely torn Meniscus that was unrepairable. I was given only one option. full knee replacement but I should wait for now. In the meantime, continue with Motrin and the opioid. I asked if there was something for the pain that would last longer than Motrin and be safer than taking an opioid for the pain. She recommended I make another appointment for a shot to help with pain. I left and went back home to do my research and in my mind, a knee replacement should be a last resort. I called my primary doctor and explained the visit and we both agreed I needed a second opinion. I was seen by two other specialists, both recommending surgery to clean up the joint and Meniscus, and neither felt I was anywhere close to needing a knee replacement. Looking at their reviews I must have missed something as the reviews have fallen since I last looked. CCO asked me for an online review and I responded on the poor service and it prompted me if I would like a call back. I said yes and left my number. No call back after 5 weeks, so to me, they don't care if they have good reviews or not. I would seek elsewhere for any Ortho work other than Central Coast Orthopedics. read more

Dr Delagrammaticas replaced my hip last year and my Rt knee this year. I wouldn't go to any other surgeon for hip or knee replacement. Another local surgeon replaced my L knee 3 or 4 years ago and this was a much better outcome and experience. I'm so grateful for Dr Delagrammaticas's expertise Dr D stays up to date, is compassionate, organized and most of all, highly skilled. The phone system this medical group uses is difficult until you learn that on your first visit you need to ask for your PA's and NA's direct line phone extensions. I've also been seen by Dr Schueckler for shoulder pain. He advised a regimen of ibuprofen and physical therapy to resolve my issues, instead of surgery or shots in my case, and he was 100% correct. That worked. This group takes its own X-rays at the time of your exams, so you don't have to run around to an outside lab and there's no waiting for the X-rays results. If you were my family I'd beg you to see Dr Delagrammaticas for hip or knee pain, and I can recommend Dr Schueckler for his specialty as well. read more

Dr Caggiano diagnosed my issue quickly, presented 3 treatment options, and gave me a cortisone shot (my choice) while in the exam room. Clear indications on follow-up, but again left it to my discretion to come back if needed. All staff very professional. Would definitely recommend. read more

took forever to get an appointment then told I had an old injury..? ok getting past the front desk was exasperating and needed to get referrals and tests done before seeing the Dr who was great but I truly could have used the information snd knowledge from him albeit short visit to hasten my recover rather than hamper it. Front desk stand down and stop hanging up on patients. Three times in fact and finally a really bad grilling regarding my injury and my referral which she claimed did not exist, but it was there after all. I'm not a fan of going to the Dr. I'm really not a fan of going to an orthopedic surgeon! But, I had to and I was lucky enough to have an appointment with Dr. Spoo in his Pismo office. He took his time with assessment, laid out what the steps would be and an end goal. He talked to me in terms I understood, laid out the pro and con for each option I had. At the end of the day I felt like I understood what was going on with my knee and participated in my plan to heal it. read more

Arggggh!!! The phone answering system and ability to contact a human is frustrating. After waiting 8 minutes, the calls now go to voice mail. In the past you got to be on hold longer (whoopee). For example, I initiated a call while in SLO and drove to Arroyo Grande and was on hold the entire time!! I almost just drove to the Pismo Beach office; sure would have been quicker. Either way, whatever system has been initiated is not customer service. How about using some of the business's profit to hire some staff to take care of customer service and answer the darn phones. p.s. I was just on hold for 7 minutes and 47 seconds and the call goes to voice message. I am assuming someone had the clever idea to just let calls go to message and staff would call back at their convenience. If they answered the phone timely, they would not have to make all those call backs and probably end up in message tag with a patient. Please fix your system. Update: I ended up driving to the SLO office just to speak to a human and the front staff was terribly rude, snide, and condescending. I had left three voice messages over two days and no one ever returned the calls. Imagine having complications or questions after surgery, not being able to reach a human, and then needing to drive to the office to get help. UNBELIEVABLE! This is not a doctor review but a front desk review. I was in the office twice and both times the staff was not friendly, they are rude and unconcerned that they treat patients that way. I liked the doctor and considered him for surgery but then I thought if I needed him I doubt if they would care enough to get a message to him. Well turns out my gut feeling was correct. My friend had surgery and had a problem. She called the office twice and the doctor never contacted her. I also called for her and they didn't seem to care that she called. I don't believe the PA or Doctor even got the message. It's just an uncomfortable feeling thinking that. For me the first impression is an important one. I am now seeing another doctor. read more

I would trust all the Doctors at Central Coast Orthopedics but I can, without reservation, speak for the absolute confidence I have with Dr. Michael Laird. I have know Dr. Laird for well over 10 years and while I have not had to use his skill for my body he has treated my wife for three or four separate and serious corrections including a broken shoulder and a severe injury to her spleen. Even before my spouse used Dr. Lairds skills my brother-in-law had both a hip and a knee replacement and that is when I first personally became acquainted with Dr. Laird and from there meet and was familiar with the entire family including Dr. Laird's father who coached football for many years near Shaver Lake in Fresno County. Dr. Levine was fabulous he is only the second Orthopedic Dr we've seen that answered our questions fully before we asked them. That made you feel fully comfortable with his knowledge and abilities while not talking down to you or being so brief that you felt rushed out the door like it was revolving. He was so personable as well as professional and very obviously a good orthopedic doctor. He did not push invasive actions plus one for him. He didn't push drugs plus 2 He gave clear course of action and options. We plus 3 His office was clean and felt modern not outdated. Doctors are fantastic! However, receptionist at the front desk in San Luis Obispo office is VERY rude and unfriendly. Her attitude towards patients is very gruff and abrasive. Every time I have gone to this location I have problems with her. If you do go, try and steer clear from her. I would rather go to another location to see my doctor than to deal with her. read more

I am not a patient but called this morning to make an appointment with Dr Caggiano on behalf of a regular patient who is out of the country, fell, had broken bones. She needs to see him asap on return next week. Initially I was put on hold, which is understandable for a short period. I wear a hearing device with bluetooth. The scratchy sounds I heard through my device while waiting were irritating and bad enough but then the high-pitched screeching of a fax machine gave me a start not once but sevetral times; then an appointment was refused without first seeing overseas medical reports. Maybe the doctor is great but this is not acceptable. I doubt anyone that can fix this will ever see this review. How a person is treated while on hold represents the practice. This was disrespectful. I complained to the receptionist she was non-committal, probably had no control but she could report it!! Oh well! read more

I had surgery with CCO in 2019. There was no health screening before the surgery and I was not given accurate follow-up information. Then the billing office continually tried to bill me for erroneous CPT codes and did not give requested information to my health insurance to address the claim. Dr. Ken Fryer treated my daughter after a horrible injury and continues to follow her progress. He is an excellent surgeon and has great rapport with my daughter and me. He is honest and straight forward and has a wonderful dry sense of humor. I get the feeling that he genuinely cares about her well being and progress. She looks forward to her office visits. His medical assistant, Sonia, is kind, caring and compassionate. They are always responsive to calls and voice mails. Dr. Fryer gets my HIGHEST recommendation! read more

Dr. Devine was wonderful both times I saw him so this star rating DOES NOT apply to him at all. However, the front office staff in San Luis Obispo left a lot to be desired. They lost my consent to retrieve my records from a previous ortho, so I had to make an additional trip back to the office to sign a new one. Then that one was not faxed and they did not follow up to make sure it was actually coming from the other office prior to my appt. The day before my appt. I called the office and they said "well, they haven't sent it." In other words, no initiative on their part to make it happen! I now was on the phone between both offices and had to become a squeaky wheel to get it there by my appt. time the following day. Mind you, this was supposed to be taken care of 6 wks prior! It finally arrived, but not until I made at least 6 phone calls. I'm in the medical field so I know who to call, what to ask, etc. What happens to the folks that don't know where the responsibility lies in the office or who to call for what? Dr Caggiano is great! Very knowledgeable, talks at my level and doesn't make you feel dumb by using dr lingo, explained options with his recommendations but let me chose what's best, best surgery experience I've ever had! His incision was barely visible and non existent now that I've recovered. Follow up visits were quick but not rushed. He answered all my questions during recovery. I have an HMO and the follow up visits did not require a copay which was a nice surprise. Just a great Dr and experience under not so good circumstances!! Highly recommended this Dr! read more

Currently in the waiting room for my diabetic grandmas broken arm. We've been waiting over an hour and a half and have had multiple people come in after us and go in. We're the only ones waiting now. We're even told before the last patient went in that we were next and that was obviously not true. Don't ever come here they don't give two shits about you. Bad enough when the accident happened the er doctor said to see a Doctor within 1-3 days but the office refused and booked us a week later. My grandma is 80 years old and before the accident was walking over a mile a day, and now can barely get up and down. If the diagnosis is worse than we were led to believe this place needs new management. And at the end of this long review still no sign, in 20 minutes we'll have been here for 2 hours. I would have given the office a better review, because the doctor seems knowledgable and friendly, but the nurse told my mother she could only talk to the doctor about one of the two problems that she was having. Considering it took two months to get the appointment I don't think that was reasonable. Also, my mother is almost 80 so going to appointments isn't always easy. read more
