Pros: easy access from highway, very close to 50. Not a lot of people, easy to park. Great pricing, 3 times cheaper than some other cut-your-tree places and even cheaper than grocery market lots. Cons: seems just wild forest and not maintained area with clear view for each tree. Other trees have blocked even growth of the tree. Many tree as just new branches of previously cut trees and are very high, like 7ft high to even cut. Hard to tell what the tree will look like. Many trees have fewer or every uneven length branches. Hot cider provided, packing just a dollar. Very nice staff, pleasant and welcoming. So, it's forest from where you can pick a wild tree. Some picks here even show quite well how the trees look like. Very friendly greeting from the family upon entering. We walked around for a bit. The first tree u saw was a good one but by the time I went back to it a bit later someone lede had chosen it so the search went on. We found a nice one at the top of a tall tree. My husband walked back up and the owner brought his truck and chain saw and cut it down for us He said that he grew up here and he is 3rd generation owner. The trees are a great price, $48 and we tipped them for helping us cut the tree down. His wife said it was not necessary but we really appreciated the service. I definitely recommend this tree farm. Enjoyed cutting down our own tree! You do have to scout out your own tree, which can be tideous but it makes finding the right one that much better in my opinion. Dog friendly area as well, our pup loved it. Get ready to do some walking, the land is 30 acres full of beautiful trees! We personally stayed close to the entrance to avoid having to go downhill so much & getting lost lol. People who run the farm were great and welcoming. Our tree came out to $31 flat, great price. We started coming here in 2019, great place!!! You really have to hunt and look for a tree. It's exactly one hour from our house, really easy to get to. We go to this location in Pollock Pines, there are two. The family is really nice, really reasonable prices. They have tons of mini trees they put on stands for around $20. Dog friendly! Make sure you bring your own poop bags.....great place to walk around and kill time. We usually spend 1-3 hours here. Last year there was snow on the ground, so bundle up! :) read more

We first discovered this place years ago and it's been our go to ever since! It doesn't have the vibe like other Christmas tree farms, like nicely planted trees in rows it's more so a forest and you really have to hunt some, which I think makes it all that more fun! Super friendly family owned business. Found the perfect tree after scouring through their acres for about an hour with my 4 year old. We had a blast. Everyone's requirements for their "perfect" tree differ but I think they have a perfect tree for everyone. I went all the way to the bottom of their property and found the perfect tree my mom would love, probably 14 feet tall. I sawed it down and drug it back up where they wrapped it for me and helped me get it to my car. All for 49 bucks! Jeez. Highly recommend and will be returning next year! read more

For the last five years, we've been coming to Apple Hill to cut down our christmas tree. For the last few years, we've always made a point to stop by Roberts Christmas Tree Farm to pick up some small trees. They take branches from trees and place them into a stand made out of a cut tree stump. They are so cute, and are between $4-$12 depending on size. This year, we grabbed a decent size one for the front yard, and then a smaller one to place on our mantel. Unfortunately, we've always taken a look around the farm, but have never found a tree that we like. The farm is a little more "woodsy" than others, which makes it hard to see and find a tree. We'll continue to keep coming here for the small trees. :) read more

This was not for us. We went here because it was open on a Tuesday and many other places are closed. The gentleman we spoke to there said they had 40 acres of trees and it's cut your own. We walked and walked and walked (with a 2 & 4 year old) and didn't find a nice tree. They were wild and not tended at all so very irregular. We finally gave up and returned the saw. The woman at the front said they had another tree farm two miles away where the trees were more manicured so we tried going there. But again, nothing we would want to take home. What they meant by manicured was that the top 3-4 feet of the trees was trimmed into funny tiny tree shapes. I will say the prices were cheaper than other fake a but you get what you pay for. read more

Yah, that's this kind of place. This was our first visit to Roberts Tree Farm and we couldn't have been happier. It's a more authentic experience where you actually trek around and cut down your own tree (in contrast to some other farms in the area where they won't even let you cut without staff supervision or really just get to watch them). I loved the simplicity of the Farm and the super friendly employees. No, they are not going to hold your hand there, but the farm was beautiful with snow all over the ground and we found many beautiful tree options. The pricing is also the best around. My family and I went up a couple days before Thanksgiving and most of the tree farms were closed. We had never been before. We were really disappointed, but kept driving to go to Apple Hill Farms. We drove by this place and the gates were open. We decided to give it a shot. Sure enough, Paul the owner was there and said we were more than welcome to go look for a tree! It was a beautiful spot and my toddler was more than happy to be running around. It didn't take my parents long to find a tree and I found the most perfectly imperfect Charlie Brown tree. 2016 was the first time I had gone hunting for Christmas trees since I was little, and I'm quite sure the experience was more fun as a child. But! This place is still really neat to go and cut down your own Christmas tree! There's about 13 acres to walk around to find the perfect tree. I probably shouldn't have done this when I had the flu because I just couldn't handle the walking. But I did manage to find a silver tipped tree that was perfect for my small condo! Also the owners here are really nice and the prices in the photos are still pretty current. Short story: They are awesome and it was a great experience! Long story: There are two locations and I talked to the sweetest woman on the phone about both before visiting. She said if we wanted to pretend we were lost in the woods then visiting the Pollock Pines location was for us. We went there first. It was pouring rain and there were still a bunch of people there. We were already aware that the pickings there were slim so, taking in to consideration our lack of rain attire and our toddler, we headed for the Apple Hill location. SO muddy but so worth it. Our car was covered in mud and so were our shoes but we had a blast. There are well worn paths to walk through so we felt comfortable walking far into the trees and everything there was very straightforward. Grab a saw and pick a tree. I can't say enough good things about this place! We went to FIVE Christmas tree farms today around the apple hill area and for one reason or another we passed. Most places at apple hill cost $80 for a tree (doesn't matter the size) and it was basically like getting it from a Home Depot lot. You don't even actually cut your tree. But thankfully we ended up here! Everyone was incredibly nice and helpful and just plain friendly. Our kids LOVED wandering through the trees to find what we wanted. Lots to choose from with different sizes and types. You wander to your hearts content till you find what you need. And the best part? The price! They were less than half of almost every other place up there and you got a much better experience. There was a small shop with Christmas stuff there and a booth selling hot chocolate and I think some other treats. (We didn't really look so I can't comment too much more than this!) We will definitely be returning, and telling our friends and family! read more

This is the second year I have gotten my tree from Roberts. They have a great set up, especially for kids. Here, you can actually cut your own tree down unlike many of the other Apple Hill tree farms. They are also substantially cheaper than almost anywhere else. Our 6' tree this year was $25. Now, that being said, you really have to HUNT for a tree here. Their "forest" is not really manicured or maintained, and a lot of the trees are funky. If you don't need a perfectly symmetrical tree, I highly recommend this place! read more

One of the few Christmas tree farms open this late in the season. The family and I drove up to the apple hill area looking to take some family Christmas pictures. Every. Freaking. Tree. Farm. Was closed. I went to yelp and found Roberts Christmas Tree Farm and I called to make sure they're were open. We drove the 10 mins farther to Pollock Pines. Completely and totally worth it. My husband told the guy at the gate we just needed 10 minutes to take some pics and he was more than accommodating. We had free range of the farm with no expectation to purchase a tree. Not a bad drive for a choose and cut farm pretty good selection but be prepared to do everything yourself and no flocking available. Also, make sure to bring your own rope or tie downs. They have treats and warm hot chocolate available there's a pretty good amount of snow right now so bring your gloves snow shOes and anything else to help keep you warm. Have they moved or changed owners? We've been going to Roberts Tree Farm for several years, and it was different this year. Different entrance, different parking lot, and no more little buildings with displays, crafts, coffee, and such. It was in the same general area, but I don't think it was on the same property - no little bridge over the creek that we are used to walking to. When we got there, I kept thinking my GPS was confused - we used to drive up a little road into a parking "loop" with the big chimes. Remember those? This is not the same place it was last year. The people there were VERY friendly though - no issues there. I guess I just don't like change. And I did miss the little shop and the nativity display. read more

Came in the middle of a giant gnarly storm, hailing the entire time, but the man was still friendly and welcoming as he left his warm house to point us in the right direction and let us wander in search of the perfect tree.
