Again Robert's Plumbing to our rescue. Found out we had NO WATER on a Sunday morning with a household in need of water. So I called and left voice mail for Robert's since they weren't in on Sunday. Early the next morning, they called and two guys worked us in since we had no water at all. These guys are the best. We were remodeling a 1960s home and needed to add a new washer and dryer on the main floor. They spent most of the day installing the water lines, drain and dryer vent, as well as relocating the refrigerator ice maker water line. All of their work functions properly, and they tested everything before they left. Everything in the house was left exactly as they found it, and they cleaned up where work was done. Fantastic customer service. Called with a non-emergency plumbing problem and expected to have to wait a couple of weeks, but Roberts was on the job within 2 days. I also expected the job would require some trenching and a new line, but instead of taking advantage of the opportunity for a bigger project and more money, Roberts advised it was not necessary and took care of the problem in a way that was much more economical for me. I used Mike Roberts for a major basement renovation that included installing a kitchenette and full bathroom. He did the job, more or less without incident - although he occasionally grumbled about what was needed. Three years later, when the sump pump failed and I called, his crew came out, shook the PVC evacuating pipe until the pump came on, said it was fine, and left (they also grumbled about their employer, but that's another story) - which cost me $160 for nothing but a guy shaking a pipe. Well, the pump failed again within 3 months, this time really flooding the floor. I had someone else take the cover off the pump and assess the issue. The pump is insufficient for the job. It's a basic sump pump - not something that will deal with bathroom effluent. When I called Mike Roberts about it, he 1.) couldn't remember what unit he put in cause it was already 3 years old; 2) told me 'yeah, my guy should have opened the top', but "hey, I was stupid for putting a wood floor down cause eventually, all pumps fail". (!!) So apparently it's my fault. That's pretty much the Mike Roberts way. He's nice until he isn't and then he's surly. His 'making his customer happy' was to offer to come out 'the next time it fails' and waive the charge. Actually, I'd prefer a plumber who got it right the first time, and then did something about the failure when it happened. We can all make mistakes, but plumbing mistakes are nasty and should be fixed by the person who makes them. read more

VERY disappointing experience with this business. I was charged 12 total labor hours at $40/hr and was left still waterless. The workers came on a Friday and promised to be back Monday. When I followed up, Mr. Roberts told me they were taking a vacation day. THEY LIED TO MY FACE about returning on Monday leaving me waterless another 24+ hours. After returning on Tues and another 7 man hours of labor, I still had no water. They told me I had a leak in my water line. I called for a second opinion. The plumber arrived the same evening, worked less than 45 minutes, resolved the issue and only charged $20. Mr. Roberts promised a $200 refund but after weeks and 5 attempts to make contact, Mr. Roberts said he changed his mind and I would have to take him to court. He is an unscrupulous liar as well.
