I purchased new headlights and took them to Robertson Gomez to install. I dropped my car off at 8:30. It took them 61/2 hours to tell me they were the wrong headlights. I had them order the correct ones. And they installed them incorrectly and said they were faulty and would order new ones. 2 days later I call to see if they came in. I was told they would be in on Monday I make an appt for 8:30 on Wed. They tell me to leave my car and would call when they were done. 3:30 no call. I go to pick up my car and they say the part did not come in. What the ..... . I make another appt for a week later,to put my old headlights back in and return my money, because the say they are too busy to do it sooner. I drop my car off again at 8:30 they said they would get right on it. 3:30 no call. I go to pick up my car it was done but headlights still not in properly. Prior to this I had them do a used car inspection. After leaving my car 7 hours they told me nothing was wrong with my car. Did not charge me or give me a service order. I thought great. Because of the dishonesty and rudeness of the boys that work there I recently took my car to another mechanic and I have a cracked serpentine belt among other things. Either they never inspected my car, are bad mechanics or both. I got the run around so much it took a month to end this nightmare. They squeezed me in on a busy Saturday without an appointment for a smog test. They won't charge you for the test if you fail it, which I thought was pretty cool (but I did pass ha). They were friendly and the young guy working told me a little about the area when he found out I was new in town. I liked that the small waiting area had lots of pictures of local military peeps and even a few thank you notes pinned up and thought it gave the place character. read more

New to the area and smog testing....came in for a quick turnaround smog test w/no appt. They accommodated and let me know my coolant reservoir was cracked and leaking. Offered to replace the part when we got a new one. Fast forward two weeks later....we pop in to see how much he would charge and the cost....he changed it out in just a few minutes in the parking lot--free of charge! Bill is a man with integrity! I'm amazed! I took my car in here for them to take a look at my brakes as they were squealing. I've had so many dealers, chain repair shops and gas stations try to rip me off on brake repairs that I'm always suspicious. They always tell me (or especially my wife) that "the brakes are unsafe and need major work" to the tune of $1,500 or so. R.G. Gave the guy behind the counter my keys, he was processing some other customers, so he called me back up after about 10 minutes He asked for my credit card, I thought it was odd because he wouldn't know how much to charge me (smog + cert) etc... Guess what.. the vehicle was DONE. I did call for an appointment but who does a 10 minutes smog check! This guy does. I was getting my smogs done by that guy (expletive deleted) in Goleta and just tolerated the bad service. Forget that- find a reason to go to Lompoc and let this guy do his stuff. He was courteous, didn't try to rip me off, had the precision of a military operation. Oh one more thing.. that hump in Goleta charges extra because its a diesel truck. This shop didnt charge me more. Bottom line, a diesel truck is less work so why can shops charge more? Because they can. Roberston Gomez is the place to go!!! read more

As a woman, walked into shop, asking for an appointment for a check engine light being "on". Had a diagnostic from the light in my pocket from AutoZone, but didn't tell them that...wanted to see how honest they were... GRAVELY DISAPPOINTED. Got man-splained to that they charge $92 for diagnostic - just to check it (got light code checked at AutoZone for FREE - It was the mass air flow sensor) and they WOULDN'T MAKE AN APPT until I paid for a "diagnostic". Told them I got the light checked already and it was the sensor - they got snotty and said they still want to charge the $92, plus to fix it. I said never mind then as I was leaving they said they don't need any new business, anyway. WOW! As someone new to the area, I will make sure to let anyone who asks know - they are too busy for any new business and they man-splain... read more

This place is a scam. I went for a quote to get my shock replaced. They did not know I am a mechanic myself (I just do not have my tools or a place to do the job myself). The guy insisted on the necessity to change both shocks at the same time or my car would be lopsided, not true. He refused to quote me for replacement of one shock (money is money right). So I proposed that I remove the shock myself and asked for a quote to switch the spring from my old shock to my new shock. He then stated they only do the entire job or nothing. From a mechanic stand point that is a huge scam. From a business stand point that is pure stupidity. He turned down what could have been a $300 job to replace one shock. Since it was only one shock I wanted replaced and not both he refused to even quote me and lost the opportunity to make money. I would never let anyone with that mentality run a business for me. That is common sense, $300 job or $0. Even my 8 years old daughter has more business competence then that. BEWARE, THEY WILL OVERCHARGE OR JUST REFUSE IF THEY DO NOT GET THEIR WAY.
