Since then he has moved at least 3 different times that I can count. In the beginning, I felt he was really, really great. He listened and always took his time (to a fault) talking to you about things. Since then, I have watched a steady decline. After his divorce, he sort of went into left field (one appointment on a Saturday morning he was in his office sleeping off a hangover which I had to wake him up from as we were the only ones in the office) and he started getting very "new-age" in his views on food and medicine. I appreciate his stand-point, but I don't need a 2 hour conversation about it and a laundry list of vitiamins I should be taking (including a push of his nutritional consultant) when all I want is a sore throat checked out. I do believe his is a very passioniate doctor and is very good at what he does. However, I have made the decision after many, many years that I need to find a new one. One who is easier to see and whom I can have that established trust and connection with, not one who makes my head hurt and I have to ask myself, "What the HECK did he just say?"

The first experience was bad but it's the second experience that prompted me to write this review. I would give him zero stars if it were an option. Dr. Close gave me a medication I need and have been taking for a few years. I went to refill it through my mail-order company and they said they could not refill it - I called and found out they need his "DEA number." I called the receptionist today and apparently he can no longer prescribe that medication - he no works with another doctor to prescribe it. I was not informed when this happened, and calls from my mail-order pharmacy to his office were not returned (the receptionist said going through everyone's file would take forever and that they did not receive a call, for what it's worth.) So today I'm scrambling to find a doctor to fulfill this prescription. That is on top of other bad experiences. I made the appointment for 7:30 so I could get to work by 9. He didn't even get there until about 8 a.m. The nurse drew blood and then Dr. Close came in and just talked to me about medicine and diet and other random stuff. I didn't stop him because I thought he was building to a point but he wasn't. He was called out of his office finally at about 9:15 and came back asking if I was in a hurry and I said well I wasn't but I was hoping to get to work by 9 and I'm already behind so I need to go. So he wrote me prescriptions and then said I need to come back in because we never did the actual appointment - checking my heart rate, breathing, etc. Finally, a few days after that the nurse called on a Friday afternoon and said my blood revealed a few things that we need to talk about. I missed the call but left two messages. I never received a return phone call. Who calls a patient and tells them there are a few things from their blood test to discuss and then doesn't follow up or return their calls? Avoid this doctor. I don't think there is any malicious intent but this is really basic stuff a doctor and his staff need to be able to do, and pretty serious. If you're wavering after reading the reviews, trust your gut and go somewhere else.

She also doesn't judge or belittle you about your current lifestyle choices. Instead, she'll give you options to try and let you know what the benefits could be. It's dirty and crowded. I was so creeped out sitting there. However, the doctor charged me a lot. So... not free. The doctor was training a student or something. Before the doctor came in, I had to explain all my symptoms to the student. Then when the doctor finally came in, the student explained all of my symptoms to her, which I could have just done myself. It was embarrassing to say the least, hearing everything I had just said repeated back. The receptionists are not at all friendly and don't seem to understand questions. I even tried calling there after to find out if I was ever going to get a bill. They had no idea. It was like pulling teeth getting an answer. When I finally got a hold of the doctor, (who apparently works in several different offices, and therefore has several different phone numbers, all of which she doesn't answer) she told me to wait for the bill. A formal complaint has been filed with the state regulatory board. I was a patient of Dr. Mills for over 6 years. During my last appointment, he felt it was appropriate to share his personal feelings on DEI and expressed that he is pleased with the way that things are shifting away from DEI to being "merit-based" because DEI was discriminatory to white men and people who are not LGBT+. As a woman who identifies as part of the LGBT+ community, I became very uncomfortable, told him that this was an inappropriate subject, and stated that I would be seeking a new provider to continue my treatment. He reacted appalled, and couldn't understand why I would be offended. I moved on and tried to go back to the purpose of the call: to assess my treatment and medication (am I eating, am I sleeping, etc). At the end of the appointment, I declined to schedule a follow up and immediately found a new provider. Three weeks later, I received an email from Dr. Mills with the subject line "termination". He attempted to terminate a relationship that was already terminated, acting as if I owed him an apology for standing my ground and expressing my discomfort while calling me "reactive and illogical". This rhetoric from a certified psychiatrist is not only inappropriate, it is abusive and damaging to patients who are seeking help. He is unable to manage his own emotions when a patient expresses discomfort on a subject and should not be trusted with providing support to anyone who needs mental health support/treatment. Avoid at all costs. Email text is as follows: Good morning Amy After thinking about our last conversation on 9/24, I have decided it is in my best interest to terminate our working relationship. I did absolutely NOTHING wrong by explaining that some folks are pleased with the shift away from DEI to a merit-based system. That is not even an opinion...it is REALITY. Your stated intention to fire me for saying something that is entirely FACTUAL was out of line and disrespectful to me and our working relationship over the past 6 years and I am not able to work with someone who would be this reactive and illogical in their behavior towards me.
