I was genuinely shocked, because I expected the issue to be resolved, not made more painful. At this point, I'm unsure about returning and would have appreciated more care, attention, and follow‑up regarding the discomfort I experienced. Then to make matters worst the practice double bill my insurance for the service this caused my benefits to go to zero dollars and I still had to pay out of pocket roughly 800.00 dollars. We went to see Dr. Mariam upon recommendation from a friend. She is immediately personable, but professional, and knows her stuff. Her setup is state of the art, and she showed me exactly what was going on with my teeth, using a camera. Although I had been at other state of the art dental facilities before, no one had ever bothered to show me what was going on in my mouth with a camera, and explain exactly what was happening in there. I LOVE that she takes the conservative approach. When I told her the work that the other dentist wanted to do, she was surprised. Her feedback confirmed exactly what I had suspected. My boyfriend was told by our previous provider that he needed thousands of dollars worth of dental work. It turns out that is not the case. We both get to keep our dental health stellar AND save money! I like that she listens to you and hears you. She has a way of empowering her patients, which I appreciate. She has a gentle touch, which is BIG plus in our book. I have always hated cleanings, but her technique and style is smooth, thorough, gentle, and quick. My boyfriend (who does not generally enjoy dental visits) needed additional work, and he said he almost fell asleep during one of the procedures, he was so relaxed! He actually said she's the best dentist he's ever had, which says a lot.

I told her that…read moreI wanted bonding to fix a gap in my teeth, and she told me I could do bonding or veneers, and I told her that I wanted to do bonding. She told me to make an appointment with Dr. Butensky who does cosmetic procedures. The office manager booked me for an appointment for bonding with Dr. Butensky. The day before that appointment, I got an odd call from the office stating that Dr. Butensky wanted to "discuss my options" and that "there may not be time" to do the bonding. I told the receptionist I had already discussed veneers with Dr. K, and I didn't want to do it. On the morning of my appointment, I waited for over 40 minutes to see Dr. Butensky. He said I could do bonding or veneers. I reiterated that I wanted the bonding. He left the room and sent in an assistant who told me that because I chose bonding, Dr. Butensky could not do it and the dentist who would do it was out on maternity leave. I said that I had specifically made the appointment for bonding, and Dr. K and the office manager advised that Dr. Butensky was the one to do it. She sent in the office manager. The office manager said that Dr. Butensky decides the treatment plan, and he doesn't agree with doing bonding. This is something he did not express to me. She went back and forth and talked to Dr. Butensky presumably (he never reappeared), and eventually stated for the first time that Dr. Butensky did not think bonding would look good and that it would chip. I pointed out that if it is the dentist's discretion to do bonding or not, how does she know the dentist on maternity leave would do it? She told me she could have Dr. K do the bonding and that Dr. Butensky would never agree to bonding front teeth. So I received the following conflicting messages: Dr. Butensky will do the bonding, Dr. Butensky would never agree to do bonding on front teeth, it's my choice of whether to do bonding, there might not be time to do the bonding, the doctor on maternity leave could do the bonding, Dr. K doesn't do the bonding, Dr. K could do the bonding. What no one is talking about is the fact that bonding costs a few hundred dollars and veneers a few thousand dollars. Obviously this practice was just pushing the most expensive option, and when I didn't agree to the more expensive procedure I got a total run around. I've never experienced such a lack of professionalism. Avoid this place at all costs!!

Today, I went to a different, well established dentist, and received the same teeth cleaning, x-ray and check-up, and was told I needed ZERO fillings and there was no mention of the need for a crown. Interesting, right? SDP presents as skilled and caring, however, perhaps due to their overhead (massaging dental chairs and all), their diagnoses seem to edge towards self-serving. Buyer beware. Additionally, after a FULL YEAR, I have zero pain or sensitivity in any of the "problem areas" they had discovered. **The hygienist at SDP was excellent, as was the front desk staff, and, I do not doubt the skill of the dentists. Unfortunately, my perception of them is that they are more business oriented than "compassionate healer" oriented.
