I was recomended by my hygienist to have it removed before cavities begin to form due to the difficulty of brushing the area so I did some research and looked for referrals from friends. I previously removed a wisdom tooth a few years ago but put off removing the other three as I didn't want to be stuck eating soft foods for another three weeks again. I scheduled a consultation with Dr. Dolman and that was when I knew Dr. Dolman was extremely knowledgeable and I could trust him with this procedure. Dr. Dolman is not pushy like a number of doctors are. Rather, he explains what would happen if you don't remove certain teeth and what would happen if you do. His explanations were clear and helped me prepare mentally for what I was about to go through. Doing any sort of dental work is usually pretty scary and pulling wisdom teeth is one of the scariest procedures for me due to the fears of dry sockets and things going wrong. However, Dr. Dolman is very experienced and goes above and beyond to make sure that his patients are safe, comfortable, and at ease before, during and after the procedure. Did I mention that during the procedure, I didn't feel a thing and was very relaxed? I didn't think that could be possible in a situation where someone would be yanking your teeth. What makes Dr. Dolman stand out is the experience post operation. I was provided a printout of what to expect for the next few weeks during recovery, what to eat and how often to change gauzes. In addition, Dr. Dolman gave me his number so I could text and call him if I had issues. He followed up periodically to check in and see how I was doing and answered questions I had very patiently. Two of my wisdom teeth came in right after I had my first child and were impacted. One was close to the nerve, so regular dentists did not want to touch it. Exactly one week ago, Dr. Calat numbed the area completely, and it took him about 5 min to pull out both teeth. He was quick, precise, and thorough. Before I knew it, he was cleaning the area and suturing the extraction sites. He did say that it didn't always happen so easily, and it could take up to 2 hours in some cases. I had some pain that went away with Motrin and Tylenol the first day. The second day, there was no pain, only low-grade fever 99.8F. I didn't need any painkillers. I ate soft and mashed food and followed the instruction from the after-care list. I took Motrin before sleep just in case but didn't need it. It's less expensive for me to go out of network and to have one doctor do everything instead of handing off to my dentist. Implants aren't really covered. After three calls they reluctantly prescribed antibiotics (which I insisted upon after ChatGPT diagnosed it as a likely deep tissue infection), which ultimately solved the problem. But when they agreed to send the rx in they literally told me that I should go see a doctor instead of calling back. QUESTIONABLE PROCEDURE I ended up having to go to an emergency dentist. When they looked at the cut made in my mouth they remarked that it seemed unnecessarily deep, basically to the bone. 5 weeks later and it's still not fully healed. So yeah.
