He treated me like a criminal already before even hearing the case, there was no witness list, no confiscated items list, nothing provided to me for review. No face to face meetings, not even once. I got pulled over for doing 24 MPH over the speed limit on I-95 and was charged with reckless driving. I was worried that I might have my license revoked given how strict the laws are in Virginia, but Mr. Griffitts assured me that it would most likely get reduced and I wouldn't have to worry about that. Buyer beware. I had called to speak with Michael Robinson because I had read his profile and I thought he was a potentially good fit for us. A family member was facing multiple felonies so we wanted someone reputable and good at these cases. Unfortunately, Michael was out of the country, so they assigned Bret Lee to us and assured me that he was one of their best. The final disposition of the case was a disaster, and that is putting it mildly. While I very much understand and acknowledge that an attorney cannot guarantee a satisfactory outcome in any case, it was also written in our contract that "Counsel shall use the best efforts to obtain a satisfactory result for Client and keep Client reasonably informed from time to time as to the status and progress of the matters entrusted to Counsel hereby." This did not happen for us. We did not get phone calls. We were not always informed, or we had to ask for information before we would get it (usually at the 11th hour). There were times when we would go for 4 weeks, once more than 6 weeks without hearing from Bret. Then we'd be forced to show up for a critical hearing - anxious and stressed out - not knowing what was about to transpire and not knowing anything about the plea agreement forms. This just doesn't sit well. It just basic civility, obligation to your client, etc. That was $7,000 wasted. Seemed like the case shut down after they got their final payment. If you are facing some serious charges, as my family member was, I strongly suggest that you consider the amount of involvement you want your attorney to have. This is important! I can't stress that enough. The most upsetting things for me with this case was not knowing and wasting time. Mr. Lee would usually not answer calls or emails. I sent information for him to look at, questions I had, things like that. Out of all the things that we were promised in the beginning, nothing panned out in the end. There was no strategy. It was our family member up there alone, trying to figure out what to say without having the benefit of rehearsals and preparation. It was heartbreaking. I just can't abide by a company who does not respond to phone calls, emails, and requests for key pieces of information or provide the basic preparation for your client so he/she is ready and confident to stands and speak before that judge on what can be the biggest game changer in their life. Don't take that lightly. There were several good opportunities that we could have pursued that I felt confident would boost our case. In the end, nothing got used. I guess it was too much work or too much money to spend and I guess we as clients didn't seem worth it, is all I can think. For Robinson Law, if you want to improve, have the attorneys start calling people back. Buy a printer so you can provide people with copies of court documents. Give email addresses and telephone #s to the staff who work there so they can be reached. Just a few basics would go a long way. read more

My experience with Mr. Robinson was top notch from the initial consultation all the way until the final disposition was rendered. Mr. Robinson handled my case with extreme professionalism, human courtesy and compassion and with great fervor and drive. He never fed me false hopes of green grass and daisy's, he always gave it to me straight. This was my 3rd time getting arrested for DUI in Virginia, however I was charged with a 2nd offense. Nevertheless all the court knew and cared about was 3rd arrest for the same offense. Reading the website blogs and the DUI laws in Virginia (especially Fairfax) immediately would put someone in a state of panic, fear, anxiety and deep worry. Mr. Robinson did his best to console those negative emotions. I was arrested in June 2016, hired Robinson Law in June 2016, paid Robinson Law in August 2016 and did not receive my final disposition until January 2017. We went through 2 continuations, both of which Mr. Robinson assessed the situation at the courthouse and vehemently suggested that we move to the next date, still holding on to the glimmer of hope that a deal could be struck. I am a good guy, active in the church, coaches youth sports, leader in the community....but I have been battling an internal disease that caused me to make the same mistake 3 times. None of that mattered as the District Attorney did not want to hear any part of "Deal." With that said, we roll into the new year and the 1st item on the agenda is COURT DATE. Mr. Robinson prepared me as best as possible for every scenario, he even met with the DA and officer 3 times trying to find the best possible outcome for his client but to no avail. Whether or not Mr. Robinson was nervous about the trial, he never showed it which put me at ease. Minutes before the trial begins, Mr. Robinson tells me exactly which approach he is going to take to defend me. There was something about the case before mine that gave him an idea and he ran with it. He attacked the evidence brought before the court like a lion and showed great legal posture as he argued my case with the arresting officer. He was able to get the breathylizer thrown out as evidence and challenged the dashcam video with great ferocity. Final Verdict: NOT GUILTY I walked in with no chance or glimmer of hope in the eyes of the court...but this man of great faith took on the giants and defeated them. I would highly recommend Mr. Robinson. He had every opportunity to let me accept what was being offered to me, but he DIDN'T. We went to war with the court 3X. My ultimate goal was to reduce my reckless driving to speeding ticket to avoid the misdemeanor charge. Mr.Robinson also mentioned about seriousness of misdemeanor. With no previous record, I still did 8 hours of DIC, 4 hours of aggressive driving class, and 15 hours of community beside other things such as calibration test, to make sure I am on the safe side. With an extremely busy life, I pushed my schedule a lot to do all these because of the court date obviously. I called his office THREE days before my court date to give his secretary my last document, which was community service. She told me he submitted a motion to continue (postpone) my court date because he will be out of town, and no rush for me to stop by. I was totally shocked, what?? First of all , nobody communicated this with me, and second of all, why did he accept my case if he knew he will be out of town? I called him, and he said he needs to spend time with his family, and will take of my case another date after continuing it. With my emphasis of importance of this case for me to be done on the court date, he explicitly said that it is not a big deal and it is just a glory speeding ticket, and the bottom line is that he would not be able to attend on the court day so he will continue it if I still want him to take care of my case. He even refused to meet in person. I told him I really squeezed my schedule for the whole month to prepare everything because of the court date, and at least he should have communicated with me about his unavailability and also decision so I would plan accordingly. Based on the contract I paid him in advance to book him for my court date and time, and he should asked me if he wanted to postpone it. I can tell he did not care at all about anything.I took back all my documents from his office to get another lawyer . At this point since he realized I am serious he called me at night to ask if I could see him at his office tomorrow ( first time he called me actually)! Wow, I don't not what happened to his busy schedule suddenly. Next day, as I just had TWO days left to my court date, while I was under stress looking for another lawyer, he called and said he can send his friend to represent my case on the court date as he still can not attend my court date. My new lawyer searched in the system and found he cancelled the motion to postpone the case and my court date is still on as scheduled. It implies that not only what he did was not ethical , but it seems without the client permission and willingness, he could not postpone the court and to avoid being in trouble he cancelled it. My new lawyer which charged me less , took care of my case for the result I wanted. It sounds some attorneys after getting enough reputation and good number of clients, would really show their true face and level of ethical and professionalism. Hiring this attorney just caused me more stress and pressure rather than any help. read more
