On a whim, I went in here to check it out. As I was walking around the downtown square area of Marietta. This shop seemed to be busy and interesting. I've never seriously collected coins but, since I was a kid have put together an informal collection. However, over the last few years, I've sold some and bought no new ones. As I entered the small store I was immediately hit with a buzz of goings-on. There were three older men behind the counters talking with customers as well as a lady and two other gentlemen. The place felt alive. I've been in a few coin shops in my life but, they are never busy like this, so I found it stimulating. I briefly browsed around the perimeter before turning my attention to the main display cases holding the coin inventory. I walked up to a display case and looked down at the coins there. To my amazement, the first coin that caught my gaze was dated 1838! OMG! This Is where I digress to fill in the blanks. The reason I had come to Marietta Georgia was in search of a wiff of ancestral essence from the early 1800s when my family came here. I had found out that my great grandfather Xs 3 had been elected the 4th Sheriff in 1838. Hence my astonishment when the first coin I glanced at was 1838! Of course, I bought it. I can take a hint from the universe and this was just over the top synchronistic... The shop owner was very friendly and professional and even helped me out by directing me to some other resources regarding my family. I simply cannot say enough good things about Robinson's Coins and Chip Cutcliff specifically! We had 8 fireboxes full of coins from my mother's estate. Great experience at this store today. Robinson's buys and sells a variety of American and foreign coins and paper currency. A man who worked in the store acknowledged us as soon as we walked in. The woman who ended up purchasing the coins we wanted to sell was very patient with all the questions we asked her. There is a lot of free parking on the streets surrounding the store. Love this hole in the wall coin shop. The staff is extremely knowledgeable, friendly and patient. I bring my 9 year old daughter with me and the answer every single one of her questions with a smile and never ending patience. For a small square footage space they have a ton of inventory. Always come away buying more coins than I thought I would and have a daughter hooked on coin collecting now. Great small business try at I can't recommend enough! read more

Simply said, this shop is a numismatist's heaven. Contrary to what others have said, the prices are not bad. They are roughly 80-90% of retail price, which is not bad for a coin store of this size. Sure, there are other coin stores where you can get for much cheaper prices (sometimes 40-50% retail price), but this store has EVERYTHING, and those smaller stores do not always have everything need or are looking for. The owners are super friendly, and are extremely informative. We went last time to fill in a couple of gaps, buy some commemoratives, and some stamps they had lying around. We ended up leaving with a 400 dollar purchase for 2 silver certificates, 2 silver proof Ike's, a couple of commemoratives, 20 Indian heads, about 10 medals, 15 stamps, a wide variety of nickels, dimes, pennies, and Eisenhower's that we were missing, a FULL collection of franklin silver half dollars, and more. The full collection of Franklin silver half dollars came at a stunning price of 295, which if the math is done that equates to roughly $8.40 per coin, which is amazing, considering that it's melt value and it's numismatic value is much higher. All of the coins were F-VF-XF grade. A great steal if you ask me. They also have a box for Indian heads, a dollar each, and some of the Indian heads were VG-F grade which is also another great deal for a dollar each. We even stumbled upon a beautiful 1864 (first year of mintage) in that bin which I would rate very good. They have the same dollar deal for liberty nickels and buffalo nickels as well. Overall, Robinson's coins is located in a nice place, their prices are great, their owners are great, and it's definitely worth a visit wether you are just starting your coin collection or have been collecting for many years as they have something for everyone. read more

This appears to be a small family owned business. There prices may not be the lowest but I have found their customer service to be very high. Overall the staff is very friendly. Always patient with me and my son. My son likes to search their bargain bins and pick out a couple things. They almost always give him a discount off of the asking price too. When I did the Coin Collecting merit badge with our scout troop they ordered in some of the special coin books for the merit badge. The one thing I'll say though is it may be good to call first and make sure they are there. Twice I have gone down there on a Saturday when there were things happening at the square and they were closed. I would think hundreds of people on the square would be good for business but they just taped a sign to the door saying they were closed. Strange, but we'll be back, after we call to make sure they are open first. read more

Wide variety of coins owned by a sweet family. They are helpful to find what you are looking for and are very patient if you bring your kids in. :-) I just got my kids started on coin collecting and we got all the unusual stuff like 2 dollar bills, silver certificates, buffalo nickels, 50 cent pieces, and Sacajawea dollars.
