I was told by one of my friends that attend that I should sign my children up. They gave us a two-week pass and I took the kids and they loved it we have been going for maybe about a month now and the kids enjoy it very much the atmosphere is amazing especially since three of my kids have autism. I wasn't sure what to expect since I've never been exposed to martial arts. I purchased a Groupon from this business to give it a shot and see if it was something my son would be into. My first impression with this place wasn't the greatest. The first time I took my 4 year old son the instructor was late and didn't check us in or explain much or how their program worked. However, the instructor was great with the class. He was fun as engaging and really got the kids going. At the end of the class one of the younger instructors was there and I mentioned it was my first sons first time. He helped get us registered and went over the check in process. At the end a lady finished getting us setup and gave us the T-shirt that came with the Groupon. This put some ease into my first impression. Throughout the next few weeks my son went 2x a week and a few of those times the instructor was late and one time there was no class because the instructor was sick but we weren't even informed. No email or anything. With that said I will say my son enjoyed it and it appeared all of the kids enjoyed it as well. I will say that I am disappointed that I wasn't able to use the last few classes that came with the Groupon. I was told it expired and that I would need to register for their regular fees. No where on the Groupon website or fine print does it say there is a time frame in which the classes had to be done it just said 16 and that you couldn't have us a Groupon in the last 12 months. There was a push even at the beginning to go with their promo as opposed to the Groupon but I wasn't in a rush since I wanted to check it out first. This experience had some bumps. If you buy a Groupon get clarification because there is no indication of a timeframe. Although we've had some up and down experiences I can see where this would be great for kids. Also looks like they'll be moving to a bigger location which should be good since they have quite a bit of students. read more

My 7 year old daughter and 5 year old son just started a few weeks ago. They fell in love from the get go. Mister Danny (the main instructor) is incredibly patient and consistent. He manages classes of varying skill effortlessly. His calm yet firm approach was exactly what we were looking for. The benchmark times for stripes and belts are perfect for kids to achieve while still learning the skill of patience. It's only been a short while and I'm already seeing certain improvements from my kids. Miss Jamie (Office coordinator) is more than willing to answer any questions you may have. I bought a groupon for this place for what should have been three months UNLIMITED CLASSES for $65, a $443 value and a free t-shirt. Well about after two weeks the instructor starts trying to manipulate us into signing a six month contract for $795 but he was going to give me the $65 credit for what I bought the groupon for... Well I'm not falling for paying $730 for an additional 3 months! He said in order for my granddaughter to be able to participate in the parties (which student pay additional charges) she would have to be in the club... And said the groupon she could only go to class once a week??? It was supposed to be Unlimited!! And after asking several times for her free shirt we never received one. I didn't even want to go back lost out on the money I paid and complained to groupon that they were not honoring what was stated on the groupon... I found a much better school for my granddaughter. read more

Absolutely do not send your children here if you are looking for a quality school that teaches respect, defensive skills or moral integrity. We mistakenly signed our son up for six months worth of classes here before checking out any other schools in town thinking they would all teach the basic skills and behavior we were looking for and this was a big mistake. I guess seeing 7 year olds with brown belts who couldn't do the basic kicks or stances should have told us that the school places no importance on actually making sure the child learns all the skills that is required for each belt level and just pushed them through as quickly as possible to charge the $40 belt testing fee that they explained that no matter the mistakes or lack of knowledge needed for the promotion the children would pass. I was sending my son to this school to have him learn how to defend himself and to learn the importance of commitment but instead he was given a false sense of accomplishment that would do him no good if he ever got in a situation where he needed to use any of the "skills" that were taught to him. We figured it was our mistake for not looking more into the quality of the school but decided to ride out our six month contract and just find another school afterwards but our troubles didn't end there. We were accidently charged for a seventh month and after repeated unanswered emails I called the school to explain the mistake and to ask for a refund. The owner, Mr. Rosebrough once again never returned my many voice-mails. After a month of trying to contact him weekly my husband stepped in to see if he could get this resolved. After a week of calling daily he finally got a hold of Mr Rosebrough only to have him state his was busy and would call back in 5 minutes. After waiting an hour we called back to be told he was unavailable. This has gone on for FIVE months now and we are no closer to getting our refund. The only time we ever happen to reach Mr. Rosebrough on the phone is when we block our number and are always given the same response that the check will be there the following day but this promise has been given four times and we still never receive a check. We still call daily and are repeatedly told that they are looking into the matter or were under the impression we were dealing with it ourselves (???) and never seems to know of any corporate number or email to the company that they work for. If you are wanting your child to learn the skills to defend themselves and the moral compass of being a good human being it would be in your best interest to look elsewhere because you won't find it at Robinson's Taekwondo in Lodi, CA. read more

We've been with Robinson's Taekwondo for about 3 months and our whole family has loved it. The classes are designed with students' ages in mind, and address the whole student, not just physical skills. We've attended many different classes within our level and each class has been very welcoming. Students genuinely enjoy what they're doing and enjoy helping new students start their journey. I love that there are mentoring and leadership components as students progress - students aren't just learning Taekwondo, they are learning personal and character development, as well. Teacher Jamie is a thorough instructor - teaching the requirements for each level, specific form, additional knowledge and (equally important to our family) WHY we're doing what we're doing and how to use it. As a parent, I enjoy watching my kids grow with this program. They have developed confidence, goal setting and team work - just to name a few. In addition, I'm a student (age 39) and I love the workout, learning alongside my kids and the natural family atmosphere that this specific school embodies. We have many parents in our classes and they are genuinely fun. I came to Robinson's Taekwondo with almost a decade of martial arts experience and I LOVE what my kids and I are doing at this school. I recommend any family/ student to come in and try it if they're remotely curious. read more
