Anthony M, Keith and Ire (spelling?) all did excellent work in resolving the issues with our water heater. They all stayed right on top of our situation while the search was on for the replacement part and kept in close touch with us the whole time. They all called between 5 PM and 6 PM yesterday, very impressive. Anthony gave us a thorough explanation of the problem and even gave us his phone number. Ire called every half hour with an update. Keith listened to me and involved Anthony, and came back at 7 PM to make the fix after the part was sourced. All showed great concern about our situation, worked hard to resolve it, and were candid about the difficulties in sourcing the part and the potential delays in fixing. New review July 11. In February Robison did a complex job at my house. They removed an old central air conditioning system and all of the ductwork. And they replaced it with a Bosch pump system and two splits. As well as brand new ductwork. They returned just recently to fix a couple small problems that popped up. These problems are not unexpected given the complexity of the job. The crew arrived on time for the repair. Both of the gentleman knew the system because they were part of the install team. They were very courteous and proficient in completing the job as always. They diagnose the problems quickly and had solutions in place quickly. A few years ago Robison installed the system 2000 heating system run by oil. Another complex system and it was installed quickly and efficiently. They found that the system did not produce enough heat for my house. So within a couple months they returned with additional equipment that got attached to the system that somehow or another increase the efficiency of the new system 2000 and that helped a lot. Just another example of the fine work and craftsmanship of the Robison team. It's always a pleasure to deal with the crew of the Robison company. I've been a customer for many years and have never been disappointed. They certainly train and select their people well and their people are a wonderful representation of the brand. It's great to work with a family owned company. Nothing like it. Tim Fernandez in sales put the proposal together and was able to get me a substantial rebate I believe due to the two ductless units - which I appreciate. as expected, the Robison team has been extremely professional, efficient, courteous and neat. these folks know what they are doing and it a pleasure, as usual, working w them and having them in my house. they work well as a team and show a lot of respect for each other. they are excellent representatives of the Robison brand. earlier post: i have been a robison customer for about 18 years and they continue to provide outstanding service and high quality products. you get what you pay for - as they say. all of the service people i deal with - phone, on-line or in my home - are professional, knowledgeable, courteous, efficient, and when on a service callin my home very respectful of keeping things clean like floors. they explain everything in plain english so somewhat complex issues are easy to understand. initially they installed the "system 2000" oil burner. the service team was experienced (average 25 years w robison) and incredibly knowledgeable. they did a great job and, i believe as part of their QC, sent someone back to my house to make sure i was satisfied and that the install was proper. as usual, superb service and knowledgeable staff. could not be more satisfied with everything they have done for me. all of my interactions w phone staff and field staff have been excellent. they stand by their products and i very much appreciate that. on the coldest day of this past winter - 4 degrees - the thermostat shorted out at about 9:00 on a saturday night and by 11:00 it was about 50 degrees in the house. i called for service and the service rep showed up at 3:00am (i was given this time frame re his arrival) on sunday and swapped thermostats to solve the problem. a real lifesaver as the temp was dropping by the minute. thank you, robison. read more

You can spend up to two hours on hold to speak with a customer representative--if you're lucky. As of December 2025, residents in Westchester County are paying typical spot prices of approximately $2.75-$3.35 per gallon for delivered home heating oil. However, on my most recent delivery on December 3, 2025, I was charged $4.839 per gallon (see receipt). To any current or future customers: expect to wait an eternity on hold listening to bad music, receive no meaningful customer service, and be price-gouged. If that's what you're looking for in an oil supplier, then have at it--but don't say you weren't warned. I have been a customer for over 25 years, and since the company was sold, customers are now expected to absorb the cost. This is SHAMEFUL. read more

When I first started using this company in Westchester, they were great -- professional, reliable, and respectful. But over the past few years, that level of service has completely disappeared. The drivers have become increasingly disrespectful toward customers, and the maintenance person continues to make careless, repeated mistakes -- leaking lines, loose valves, and constant call-backs for issues that should've been fixed right the first time. Today was the last straw. The delivery driver (Driver No. 2809, Truck No. 4622) didn't even bother to close my backyard gate and had the nerve to wedge the oil delivery slip between my car door. Billy, the technician who helped me today, was amazing. We just bought our first house, and it is heated by oil - a whole new world for us. Unfortunately our oil ran out (new home owner mistake!), and our house was freezing cold. I called around 11 am, and Billy came the same day. He helped me understand how the oil heating system works, explained what various knobs and levers do, and stuck around to make sure the heat was coming back on. Outrageous prices. I asked for a better deal and they gave a little. Very little. They charged ~$1.00 per gallon higher than regular oil but only for the first 50 gallons. The devil is in the fine print. The charges show ~$1.89 higher than regular oil per gallon for the remaining 142 gallons on that delivery. Also their service contract is double market rate! The service is okay but since biofuel runs cleaner there is not as much work for them. I regret my time at Robison. The tax right off doesn't compensate well. read more

Robison, has failed to deliver oil to my house 3 times in the last 3 months. My house is currently 50 degrees and dropping, and the customer service representative says that the emergency oil delivery will take 5 hours. Absolutely and utterly horrific! One of the single most expensive mistakes we have ever made to our home. The HVAC system that Robison installed was sloppy and has resulted in water and structural damage. Unapologetic, defensive and unprofessional. I would not use Robison for anything whatsoever. You have been warned. They drilled out greater than 75% of a beam as they thoughtlessly made room for the line sets through an inside wall (the rep claimed they could not possibly have known which is demonstrably false). The beam now looks like an apple core! The line sets were placed in an attic stairwell without proper drainage or insulation resulting in massive condensation that damaged the home. I had to put in aluminum drip pans to keep it from spreading. I would not have even found this mess unless I had to remove the line sets for a renovation. Thank God I did. A head unit installed was faulty and leaking water. It took 2 separate visits from technicians, a call to Bosch and a thread of emails and phone calls to get them to replace it under warranty. They opened the permit, told me they would get the inspections and close it, yet 2 years later I find out from the buildings department that the permit is open. This makes sense because noone ever came to inspect. The technicians who installed the system spend the last 2 days on the job sleeping in the car because the "finished early and didn't want to be assigned to another job" - their words. At the time I was like "I get it, folks need a break". Now clearly I am the fool. read more

Do not even consider using Robison for heating oil. Robison was formerly owned and operated by the Singer family and was a quality company but since being acquired in 2024 by Star Group, it has fallen on dark times. Heating oil is charged at a huge premium to market price and we have run out of oil twice this winter despite being on automatic refill. The deliveryman today told me he couldn't give me oil because the snow made it difficult to access my tank despite the fact that my tank was almost empty. He was going to leave and I had to literally shovel a path in the snow across my yard to accommodate the delivery. read more

I was extremely disappointed with Robison's service. On April 10, 2025, I discovered my oil tank was nearly empty and called to ask why no delivery had been made. I was told that automatic delivery had been paused due to a $360 balance from a February 25, 2025, delivery, which I had inadvertently overlooked. Instead of contacting me by phone or email to alert me of the credit hold, Robison allowed the tank to run dry. As a result, my household was without heat for two days in 30-degree weather before they finally refilled the tank. To make matters worse, they also wanted to charge me hundreds of dollars for priming and restarting the boiler after the oil had run dry--something that could have been entirely avoided with a simple courtesy notice. It's unacceptable that no warning was provided--especially during the heating season. This kind of oversight is not just poor customer service; it also violates New York State regulations, which require written notice before suspending heating oil deliveries during the heating season (Nov. 1 to April 15). On the other hand, Robison seemed oddly lenient with themselves: during the 2024 holidays, they failed to deliver oil on time, causing a large number of houses in the area--including mine--to run out of oil and go without heat for several days in the middle of winter. This lapse illustrates that they are not competent to run a utility company. Would you trust Robison to keep your home safe and warm? Think twice. read more

Is this what Robison does at your house? They leave the bill in the bushes so we have to hunt for it, they knock down trees when they come up the driveway. We've asked for a smaller truck but they still show up in one that doesn't fit up the driveway. Today they backed into our gate and then parked the truck so they could use the bathroom?? What is going on? Does Robison not supply a bathroom or etiquette training? The last delivery person did the same thing and used the bathroom. Had boiler cleaned yesterday and now no heat. Need service here immediately! Called this morning but nothing. Now at 5pm, there is now no way to reach them, because you'll get Burke operators who can't/won't do anything. Finally got through but no positive response. "You're cold? Gee, that's a shame. SUBSEQUENT UPDATE: Robison customer service called me on the day the review was posted and acknowledged that they failed us terribly and apologized. They explained a bit about how the failure happened and how they're working to correct the issues that caused them. They renewed our annual heating and AC contracts with them at no cost, saving us a significant amount of money, as a good faith gesture that they would like to continue doing business with us. We accepted this and hope that we will have a seamless experience with them going forward. INITIAL REVIEW: We returned home with our small children to a cold home while temperatures outside were frigid. We immediately logged into our account with Robison and saw that there was only 62 gallons of oil in our tank. We requested a delivery online and then immediately called Robison. We first called at 5PM and were told we'd get an oil delivery/tank inspection that night. We didn't get one until 9AM the following morning. We were calling them repeatedly through the night and never went to sleep as they kept telling us they were coming. Our issues are: 1) At the suggestion of Robison, we scheduled a serviceperson to come to our home and install a monitor on our tank so that automatic deliveries would be made when the tank was 1/4 full. We have a 550 gallon tank. 137.5 gallons is 25% of the tank size. Robison did not automatically fill our oil at the level which they represented that they will. 2) We pay for the most comprehensive oil plan with Robison which includes 24/7 oil service during the heating season. We first spoke to a Robison representative and requested emergency oil at 5PM l and did not receive the emergency oil/tank inspection until after 9AM the following day, 16 hours later. 3) During our calls with Robison, they consistently communicated that someone was coming. Therefore, we stayed awake the entire night so that we could meet the serviceperson when they arrived. We also stayed awake to continue checking in with Robison as time went on and no one was coming. Staying awake all night is an incredibly large burden for anyone, but is even more burdensome when you have small children to care for. We also exhausted all of our firewood to attempt to keep ourselves warm while we stayed awake through the night waiting for Robison. If Robison was transparent about their arrival time, we could've left with the kids to a warm location for the night. 4) Various Robison representatives communicated different things to us, often contradicting things that earlier representatives had said. 5) We were told a Supervisor would call us to talk about our concerns and they never did. We formalized all of this in an email complaint to customer service and waited a week and a half for a response. It never came. We sent a follow up email. No response. As you can imagine, this experience was entirely unacceptable, dangerous, and incredibly unprofessional. The lack of response to our concerns proves what type of company they're running, which is a not a customer service oriented company. Very disappointed. read more

Buyer beware. I didn't grow up with oil, I made this clear when I was calling around trying to find a company since I didn't know how it works. Went with this company on the understanding thay it was a contract service. They came do do a tune up on my equipment. When the heat failed a while later, the emergency tech saidnit looked like it hadn't been cleaned or serviced in a few years. That did not sit well. I decided not to renew the contract (again, my understanding was this was all contract service). They did not reach out by more than email. Today I come home to a $700 bill from them and they are saying that I'm still on auto delivery. It is a week before Christmas. Why would they even wait this long to do an auto delivery? Last year the first delivery was in November, but a week before Christmas is ridiculous. I've also had issues with them in the past in which they auto renewed for ac service and took the money out of my account without ever calling me. I had been having issue with how expensive Robison was charging to locking in this seasons oil price. When I called a few times this year Robison quoted me $4.41, $4.44, and $4.37, which when I went and looked at the @HO1 (heating oil spot price) it was priced at $2.41 and the home heating dashboard for our Westchester, the quotes were $3.41 or $1.00 above the spot price and $4.41 for the Robinson heating quote or $1.00 more than the average price for the lower Hudson valley. I was done paying a premium for subpar work at times, 4 hour windows having to wait for someone to show up. After I moved to a reasonable oil company I find out a private equity, Alpine Intel, purchased Robison in 2024. The service before I left Robison, had been awful with significant increase in service fees and parts. I want nothing to do with any oil company owned by a Private Equity firm, because they only care about profits and gouge customers in everything. read more

My 1988 central air system died during the heat wave. I called Robison as they have been our Heating people for 30 years and our A/C guys for 15 years. In two hours i had a visit from Tim, who has been with the company for 18 years. He is professional and very thorough. He measured the areas, reviewed my equipment and made his recommendations. By the next morning i had four very complete proposals. They were spelled out and very precise. We made our decision and ordered one of the systems suggested. Two weeks later, as soon as the Town approved our permits the team showed up to install the new system. Two very nice experienced young men did the work. They were great. They worked diligently, neatly and professionally. After two days the system had been totally replaced and they left the place as clean as they found it. The system works flawlessly and needless to say we are very happy with the work done by Robison. This was a sudden expense, not planned for but necessary. There were no surprises and they were totally honest and open about everything. I can't say whether they are the least expensive company but their service is beyond excellent. Brian, a Robison salesperson, inspected my 25 year old furnace/air conditioner unit within a day or so of the tech's inspection. Brian patiently and carefully explained what happened and what needed to be done. Within a day, I received two options together with pricing. He was personable and professional. This company has been trying to fix the boiler they sold me and told may they were experts about. I have no heat and hot water for six days. It took two days to figure out the problem after spending hours on hold with tech support. This was after two prior attempts over a month to fix it themselves. I now am waiting for parts. I paid for expedited shipping for the parts and I now learn that nobody looks at the warehouse the parts are delivered to on the weekend. I was told the job would be done on a Saturday or Sunday if that was when the parts were delivered but now "the service department does not work on weekends" and no supervisor will call me despite the people on the phone claiming they have contacted them. I've been a customer for 19 years. throughout that time I have been a loyal customer and always pre-bought my oil at 500 gallons at a time. Paying in full with out hesitation. This past year I found my self with a medical a emergency and having to have multiple cranial surgeries which drained me financially. I had to sell my home due to the over $20k of medical debt and not being able to make ends meat. I asked if they could give me back what I did not use in the oil. their response both from an agent and a mgr was the scripted words of NO... we don't do that. So much for customers first, compassion and community! It's simply upsetting to realize you're just a number to this company that I helped make! This is coming from someone that gave to the community on a daily basis as one of the many EMT volunteers (that stood on the front lines during Covid). It's so good to know I value my community more than Robison. At least I can rest my head at night with a clear conscience knowing I'd do anything to help my neighbor out. read more

I have been a customer with Robison for about 3 years. in October 2024, I wanted to renew my service contract. They quoted me a price of over $600 which was double what any other oil company was charging. When I send to Robison that I was leaving them, they then changed the price on the contract to around $300, which according to them, was for their very best service contract, so decided to stay and I took the contract. In the last few weeks I called for my annual cleaning. The first thing the tech did was to tell me I need a couple of parts, which he said was not covered. I was charged $550. He also said that there might be leak and to keep an eye on it, but again that part was not covered, A week later, I called because the boiler would not turn on, The tech got it started and recommended adding a part to keep moisture out of the oil line. Again, not covered and they quoted me a price of $1,125, which I refused. I looked up on line the price of the part that they charged me $550 and I found it for less than $100 and it took the tech about 15 minutes to install. The second part that they recommended for $1,125 I found on line for less than $200. They kept asking me if I wanted to proceed, I told them exactly what I just stated about the price and surprisingly, they stopped asking, The bottom line is that Robison is extremely expensive and that their top of the line service contract covered nothing that i needed or that they recommended, It's time for me to find someone else when my contract runs out. I was extremely happy with Comfort Master for my air and heating needs. Then they were taken over by Robison and that's when the trouble started. I was overcharged for my contract. Then I had a service and was overcharged for the work. The tech was average and gave me a price for the service. The price was a little more than the estimate. I paid him and he was going to send me a bill. Never got it. I did get a bill with a large balance. I called and spoke to accounting and explained my issue. They said someone would call me back. I called 4 times on this issue and never got a call back. Finally someone calls asking why I haven't paid my bill. Worst service I ever had. Make sure you get a firm price upfront. read more

Robison administrative and technical staff have always provided my family with then highest level of service. we not only purchase heating oil from Robison we had them replace our 35 year old boiler 7 years ago and everything is running great. Based on this experience we decided to use Robison to replace our HVAC system. their price quote was very competitive but as important all my questions were answered until we made the decision which system to install. The installation process could not have gone smoother. The technicians were a pleasure to work with, They covered all the floors used when carrying the old air handler from the attic. RUN AS FAST AS YOU CAN AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!! I have waited over 2+ years to write this review. What does that tell you? Did a pretty simple oil to gas conversion and it was the hardest project to complete with Robison. I own multiple houses that do a lot of construction projects and this was the all time worst experience. Estimate was good, rebates were good, then it all fell apart like an avalanche. 1. Work took a very long time. Very very long. 2. Had to explain to their plumbing department on how to do modern construction work. 3.They outright lie to you on communication with ConEd (though it is in writing), don't show up for important ConEd scheduled appointments and it delays your turn on by a great deal. ConEd was mad at them. 4. The rebates took over 2 years to get back to me (crazy). They said they were sending checks and never did. It's all in documented emails. Never believe what they say.
