Robo lights is a magical and unforgettable display of festive art. It's completely unlike anything you will see at any other Christmas light displays. It's so amazing that the artist has made everything himself too. So much time and thought goes into every aspect. There's so many cool details and so much to take in. If you're looking for a peaceful Baby Jesus and traditional Christmas stuff, this is not the display for you. If you're looking for lots of lights, aliens, robots and quirky displays full of little details, then this is for you. My friend and I hit the Robolights display a few days before Christmas 2014 after reading about it in a blog. We arrived at dusk so that we could get photos with a tiny bit of light, as well as in the dark. We didn't mind paying $5 each to get in. Not really a "donation," but not really a big deal to us because so much work has gone into this thing. Once you enter, it's a wonderland of lights and recycled stuff made into robots and other characters, with an occasional spinning skull here and there. The artist was around and said hello, so you could feasibly ask him questions. (I didn't have any questions, so I said hello and that was it.) There's one section with a tunnel of lights that goes over a bridge sort of thing and then enters an area where it looks sort of like It's a Small World meets Tim Burton's Nightmare Before Christmas. Santa's in a sleigh being pulled by aliens. Reindeer are made of toilets. Bollywood-style holiday music blares from a type of castle setup. You get the idea. Nutty and fun and full of lights. But again, if you are expecting traditional Christmas, you're probably better looking someplace else. If you want quirky and interesting, go for it! There's lots to look at and the lights are pretty. One note: There are parking restrictions in the neighborhood so that the neighborhood isn't overwhelmed. We parked on the corner and walked in. We were there early, so we had no problem finding parking. read more

I visited twice last year. Once during the day and at night on New Years Eve. Half of the setting seemed new or different, so you will always find something new or upgraded. If you have someone who doesn't get impressed very easily. Take them to this place and you'll blow their mind. To me personally, this is the highlight of Palm Springs when it comes to art. Maybe the best art display of California. You don't support the arts? Don't complaint about movie remakes, music plagiarism, recycled fashion styles, etc... There's very little creative people left in the world. Creativity is becoming a thing of the past. read more

There's so much to see! This display shows off the artist's eccentric and sometimes dark side but somehow it draws you in without being scary and exposes you to the most fascinating exhibits. There are plenty of happy and brightly lit items as well. There is a $5 entry fee (which they call a "donation"), but you get way more than $5 worth of entertainment. He's a great artists and really takes his time to make the experience fun and family friendly the staff all know about all his projects and can answer any questions. What an incredible display of art, creativity, and lights. We have gone twice this year, and each time we discover new intricacies in various pieces, from the items used to create them, to little touches of whimsy along the way. Not your "traditional" holiday home decorations in many ways, but plenty of "traditional" fare mixed in with the artist's daring flare to make this a must stop for holiday visitors to Palm Springs. read more

Think of a parade of lights meets Nightmare before Christmas. It's not scary whatsoever. You'll be amazed by the artist's work and what he created with the materials used. Strange but creative. Plus this is in a residential area, crazy. There are even pieces that are interactive. Plus it's on 4 acres so there's a lot to see. Not that great for adults, perfect for children, overall took around 20 minutes to walk at a normal pace through he whole thing. Gotta give it to the owner for the thought and creativity. Also I firmly don't believe there are 10 million lights that's a bold claim. Maybe in the 100 thousands by by no means 10 million. read more

It's safe to say you will never experience anything like Robolights. Kenny has created an awe-inspiring, sometimes terrifying display of giant robots made from found objects. It has been here for over 25 years and only because two queens that bought a house nearby bitched so much that the city (possible friends with city councilmember(s)) cut a deal to pay the owner to leave in 2019. These two "snowflakes" are old and miserable and when they make a reservation at a restaurant, the maitre de says "Bitter, party of two, Bitter, party of two your stools are ready." A Realtor and/or the seller of their home should have disclosed this known "alleged nuisance or activity once a year." If they don't like it, move to where you came from beitches! read more

Robolights is such a cool and different experience. I took my family there this past year and I loved it! The whole place is like a big work of art. I love the fact that they donate the proceeds to charities in the valley. I think this is going to be a new tradition for us. read more

This place is NOT your typical Christmas light decorations. It's kinda of like Nightmare Before Christmas but more colorful and with robots. I wasn't expecting it to be so big but we easily spent about an hour and a half because we kept finding new spots and more to look at everywhere we turned. There is so much detail in the art pieces and every nook and cranny is decorated. There were some really friendly greeters that gave us some tips on what to do first so that was nice! It's free of charge but donations are welcomed and we did donate because I'm sure that electric bill is so high! Also, NO STREET PARKING as not to disturb the neighbors or neighborhood. We parked at a nearby park like the Facebook page advised, it's only like one block away. It's an awesome place highly recommend if you are in the Palm Springs area. read more

Amazing stuff!!! Never been in the day time buts it's crazy good at night when it's all lit up. HUGE TIP FOR THOSE EXPECTING TRADITIONAL XMAS DISPLAYS... this is not that nor is it a celebration of the dark and death. lol don't be so darn extra! Although it is xmas themed it isn't your typical stuff. I especially loved it because it reminded me of the nativity scene my aunt used to set up near her chimney each year. She used to add anything from McDonald's toys to a hot dog stand just to create an entire city leading to the farm house where baby Jesus was it. I spent so much Time as a kid admiring all the creativity and time she put into it each year without limiting herself by boundaries. This is like a bigger brighter version of it. Also a tip for people taking little ones if they scare easily it might be best not to take them. Not that it's scary but my little nephew of 3 years was scared... then again he was scared of the little janitor transport car at the zoo. Lol read more

Kenny Irwin Jr has done an AMAZING job on this display. I have brought my family to see it and have heard it talked about again and again in the years after, can't wait to finally go see it again! One of the most gifted and inspiring artists in the palm springs area and something not to be missed if you are down around the holidays. Any other artists who stop by will be sure to feel inspired after, and others will be struck with awe. A huge fan, and the display is a hit with both kids and adults. All through these reviews there is talk of the artists arrogance. THERE IS A $5.00 CHARGE TO GET IN, IT IS NOT A DONATION UNLESS ENRICHING MR IRWINS WALLET IS A DONATION. He has repeatedly responded to me that this is not true but if you read the reviews, he is lying Took me 20 minutes to get in my wheelchair and another 10 to get to the entrance where money is DEMANDED. what I saw was pretty but due to the ugliness of the lies and the artists manner, I am turing this matter over to a TV station who is dying to do an expose. He has had many troubles which he whines about, apparently it is his attitude which is hurting him. He is making alot of money and even charges for babies. read more

We went with our preteen after Thanksgiving dinner on the strip. What.a.treat. Don't have to go to Burning Man now.

First of all, the so called "suggested donation" is actually mandatory. We would have been willing to pay to go inside and be inspired. However, the preview we were able to see outside revealed that the display does not celebrate light, but darkness (how ironic!) and death. Unfortunately, at least 1.5 hours of vacation time has already been wasted. I wish I had read all the Yelp reviews before taking my family! read more

One of the funnest places to see in the Coachella Valley. Highly recommend it.

We didn't say a word to our friends visiting from out of town and just took them there and said it was a fun surprise. It was a BIG HIT and it is all they talked about the rest of the time. If you are visiting Palm Springs and want to see something that you will won't see anywhere else in the world then this is it. Wear a jacket as it gets a little chilly at night and we spent about 45 minutes walking around. HAVE FUN ! read more

This place is amazing. I loved this place. Really creative and you would see some great talent form the owner to turn recycle materials to miracle. I have been in this place twice by no and every time, I saw new things to makes to say WOW!.I wish to see more people to support this place by sharing their Yelp and Facebook because I heard city of Palm Springs is not fan of this place and they do their best to minimize the traffic, put the pressure on them, or etc to have turn shut down this place. Literally the coolest thing I've ever seen in my life. I stumbled upon Robolights in May while visiting Palm Springs from Chicago. I was looking for Frank Sinatra's house and drove past a giant pink robot. I tried to enter the property but was told it was closed for the season and to return around Christmas... So I did. I visited in December and was absolutely blown away. Kenny's art is so incredibly unique and twisted, and his disturbing take on Christmas works so well. If you're anywhere near Palm Springs, this is an absolutely must during the holiday season. read more

A friend suggested we drive by and look at the robot sculptures from the street. We did not realize we could actually go in and take a short tour. If you were in the area, please go.
